Surin Sunset Hotel in Surin

I would highly recommend this to anyone who decides to stay in the Surin Beach area. It is a relatively old hotel compared to the newer ones in the area but it is very reasonably priced and worth staying at if you are on a tight budget. The rooms are clean and cleaned regularly, it is hard to find bugs unless you bring them yourself. Family run business with very friendly service.

The hotel staff were very attentive and friendly. I booked a package that included breakfast, and the service was outstanding. I stayed for 4 nights and had no problems at all.

I read all these reviews before I stayed here for 2 months (dec & jan).

Firstly, I had a great experience here and wouldn’t choose anywhere else to stay, I will definately be returning.

Alot of the reviews on here mention a few issues which I would like to give my take on;

1) The road outside is busy:
Yes it is very busy sometimes and the cars and bikes drive fast in thailand, but that is not the fault of the hotel it’s just hard to cross the road outside because it’s on a bend. Also if you walk 10 metres up the road you can cross much more easily so it’s a null issue.

2) The bed matresses are a little hard, but if you ask for a matress topper they are happy to oblige and will install that under your sheets - this solved the issue for me

3) The hotel is very reasonably priced for the area and the free breakfast is actually decent with good basic options and friendly staff - you won’t find better for the cost

4) People have said that the staff are rude but my experience of Suda and Lilly is that they are chatty and friendly and always willing to listen and help if you ask them. They are extremely busy and often the guests are speaking multiple languages and I think they do a great job at managing everything. I have never once seen them be unpolite to anyone, even though some guests came across a bit rude they responded calmly.

5) I stayed on the 6th floor, premium double bedroom. It was spacious, clean, maids came every day and were trustworthy and thorough. If they didnt clean you can just request it and they will do it - sheets towels and all.

6) Wifi is perfectly fine - sometimes there are outages for a short time, but that is normal for any place even your own home. I think it was down only twice, late at night for a few hours in my whole stay of two months.

7) Location is brilliant. Literally one of the best locations in a 10km radius in terms of being able to get to different beaches and activities.

8) Parking is fine for bikes, sometimes it can be busy in peak periods but there are nearby spaces to park within 10 metres so it’s really no problem. Cars are a little more tricky but there are free car parks around 200 metres away

9) People are friendly and it’s quite easy to make friends or talk to people, it’s a very relaxed environment!

Overall I highly recommend this place and if you are thinking about staying here don’t hesitate based on the other reviews - you will definately enjoy your stay!
