Cozytel Chiangmai in Chiang Mai City

We stayed at Cozytel Chiang Mai for 5 nights and paid €355 (around €70 per night). This price is absolutely not justified by what you get.

The hotel is very outdated and extremely noisy. The walls feel like cardboard: you constantly hear sounds from other rooms and the elevator, day and night. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you should look elsewhere.

For this price, we stayed in three other hotels in Chiang Mai for about half the cost, all of them offering a much higher standard. This hotel feels more like a 2-star property and should cost no more than €30 per night.

The toilet was clogged multiple times, which is unacceptable at this price level.

On the positive side, the staff is friendly (as is common throughout Thailand) and the location in the Old Town is good. This likely explains the relatively high review scores.

However, aside from the location, the price–quality ratio is very poor. There are many far better options in Chiang Mai for this amount of money.

We didn't expect a lot. However the receptionists needs a big head wash. The night guy is a nerd..playing game, even during the check in. He didn't look at us, only his phone. When I asked help with the baggage for my wife, he said ok, one hand held the backpack, the other his phone and played during. It was comic and tragedy in the same time. The other issue was, when we tried to extend our stay. An intern girl, she was very nice, she made a mistake apparently by telling us the price wrong. After half hour a guy replaced her and we wanted to reserve..he said only the bigger room is available now and cost more...and he blamed the intern. This was wrong..he should have take the responsibility instead of blaming someone who is learning. There could have been so many way to handle this, but he said it ironic manner : " only cost 400 b more for you and sorry".
We didn't take it...it felt wrong. So he managed/ handled this small mistake to have an empty room and an upset guests..this is no way to teach a student. So we left for a very nice hotel for a better value.
The cleaning staff was very nice and polite and the location is good also...but we will not return
