Can at the reception desk assumed that my card wasn't working. He tried to charge me six times for the minibar, even though I was able to show him with my ING app that I had already paid.

Other staff members are friendly.

Pillowcases are torn, as are the bathrobes. Curtains are dirty.

I am an ALL Accor Gold Member and had a very disappointing stay at Mövenpick Izmir.

On Sept 10, the hotel reached out to welcome me and ask questions, but never mentioned any prepayment requirement. My reservation was made directly through the ALL Accor website with my credit card on file. I even entered my expected arrival time as 10–11pm local time due to my international travel.

Yet on Sept 11 — the very day of my check-in, while I was flying from the US — I received an email saying that unless I paid in full by 6pm local time, my reservation would be cancelled. As an international traveler, I could have easily missed that email, and given that I had already provided my credit card through ALL Accor, this kind of last-minute ultimatum is unacceptable.

Beyond that, the service was inconsistent and frustrating:
• Hotel-arranged taxis often complained about the destinations. One driver even said, “I am not your hotel’s taxi driver” and became aggressive — clearly a coordination problem the hotel caused.
• Requests (like daily water) had to be repeated multiple times before being delivered.
• In my parents’ room, the TV remote malfunctioned; someone promised a replacement but it never arrived.
• Same-day dry cleaning was not returned within the promised timeframe, and the ironing was unprofessional (though at least not charged).

For a brand like Accor, this was far below expectations. The location is good, but the lack of transparency, poor follow-through, and weak service culture made this stay stressful and disappointing.

Loyal members should not have to worry about losing their reservation mid-flight, especially when booking directly through ALL Accor with a credit card already on file.
