Reviews
The view from our room was incredible, especially the sun rise 🌞 and the view in the glass elevator with the large art piece (not sure what to call it) was very cool all lit up at night!
The area in Istanbul is very cool too. The umbrella street was super cool and comfortable - refreshing and cooler than many streets in US cities.
The lobby area was also very calm and beautiful. I would definitely stay here again!
Breakfast and locations are great.
My stay at Hotel Root Karaköy was truly shocking. I travel often, and this was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.
First of all, the cleanliness is beyond unacceptable.
• The room was dirty from the moment I entered.
• The bed sheets did NOT look fresh — they looked used, stained, and definitely not changed.
• The bathroom was extremely unclean, with visible dirt and an unpleasant smell.
• Even the elevator was dirty, which already tells you everything about the hotel’s hygiene standards.
It’s honestly embarrassing that a hotel operating in such a central area maintains this level of cleanliness. I wouldn’t expect this even from a budget hostel.
To make things worse, the staff were completely unhelpful and not collaborative. When I raised my concerns, they showed zero interest in assisting or fixing anything. No apology, no solution, nothing. Just attitude and unprofessional behavior.
This hotel clearly doesn’t care about guests, cleanliness, or providing any standard of service.
I deeply regret booking here. Save your money, your time, and your health — and stay anywhere else.
Absolutely NOT recommended under any circumstance.
The room was extremely small, and the cleanliness was honestly poor. The bed had visible dust all around it, and the sheets felt like the cheapest kind you could buy — thin, rough, and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the electricity went off during our stay, and the bathroom power never came back. We literally had to keep the door open just to see anything.
Breakfast was below average, and even the airport transfer we booked through the hotel showed up late. I’m still on my way to the airport so let’s just hope I don’t miss my flight. The only bright side was a few kind and helpful staff members, especially Omer, who was genuinely great and did his best to assist us.
Unfortunately, the manager’s attitude ruined it even more. After I raised my concerns, he made a remark saying, “don’t fight with anyone when you go to the restaurant,” which I found totally unprofessional and unnecessary.
Overall, this hotel only wins points for its location. The rest — comfort, cleanliness, service, and management — was far from what you’d expect. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
The room I booked didn't match the photos: it was a maximum of 9 square meters, including the bathroom and a twin bed, instead of the advertised 17 square meters. The window faced the elevator, and there was no light from the window in the room, making it feel like a storage room.
The room was dirty, the Wi-Fi didn't work, and the phone wasn't connected to the reception, so I had to walk down each time to talk to the staff members. Btw they were kinda nice, but they didn't solve any of the above problems, they just listened to me.
The photos I posted were taken at 9 a.m., when there was a lot of sun outside. I just hated this room every time I had to come back there.
We also had breakfast that were paid for separately: very poor selection of food, but great scenery and view. So to sum it up this hotel is nice and fancy on photos but completely terrible inside. Big thank to the photographer you hired. But you guys simply the worst
Btw to my comment about the dirt they told me to send the photos that I took to their WhatsApp so they could send it to the housekeeping 😅😅 lol guys it’s your job to check the quality of your cleaning services not the guest’s
The fitness room is well equipped for upper body weight training, especially for a hotel in the city. I appreciated that. Not much in terms of cardio or legs, but since Istanbul has so many hills, I didn't mind.
Room comfortable and reasonably quiet, considering the location.
Breakfast is decent, but not really worth the price. There are several better options for breakfast barely two minutes away.
