Reviews
The location is excellent. It is right in the middle of Taksim with easy walking access to Istiklal Avenue, the mosque, restaurants, markets, pharmacies, ATMs, and multiple currency exchange offices. It’s a very convenient area if you want quick access to many things in the city, and restaurants nearby can also deliver food directly to the hotel if you prefer to stay in.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, from the reception team to the housekeeping staff. My only complaint was the amount of solicitation through WhatsApp after I shared my contact information. When I extended my reservation, I received repeated messages about prices and tours, which felt a bit overwhelming. It would be better if communication was limited to necessary hotel matters unless the guest specifically asks for additional services.
Overall, I had a good experience and would recommend the hotel, especially for short stays. The location alone makes it a great base for exploring Istanbul.
The room was completely filthy: the sheets were old, had stains and were pilling and covered in black hair, the whole bed! The toilet had "sanitized" ribbon on it, but it was very clear that the whole bathroom has not been cleaned for a long time: pee stains on the toilet, poop stains in the toilet, the walls were covered in hair and stains, the toothbrush glass was probably not cleaned for months, everything was just filthy. Same goes for the room: other than the bed, the curtains were stained as well, tea cups grimy, the extra blanket/throw had snot in it, the electrical outlets are plain unsafe - falling out of the wals. The view is to a dump and the whole street is a dump itself.
I complained to the reception right away, however I was told to change the sheets myself 'cause he can't leave his workplace and was given another set of stained and hairy sheets. I tried to change hotels immediately then, but it was after midnight and was unfortunately impossible. I was forced to stay the night, so I demanded to pick the sheets myself at least and I attest that every single sheet is stained and hairy as I have been through their linen closet and barely found something a little less revolting than the rest. So how this so-called 'hotel' has such high reviews is beyond me, since all the guests must have slept on stained hairy sheets.
In the morning presumably a manager (he didn't introduce himself) came to our room and both him and the night manager were completely unapologetic and said that the sheets were fine, that I am too picky, that it's not their fault, it's how they receive the sheets from the laundry that every other hotel in the area uses as well. They did not bother to apologize or comment on every other filthy part of the room. Rather, they acted as if expecting a clean room and sheets and decent service out of a 4 star hotel is somehow too much to ask.
I, of course, promptly moved out to another hotel after the night in hell that I spent there against my will. The hotel, however, happily collected the money for all 3 nights that I booked and refuses to refund even the 2 nights that I did not stay there saying that it's their policy that customers should report problems upon moving in, even though it's what I did, it's documented in trip com, trip com did contact them when I moved in about my complaints as well.
Do not be fooled, it's not a 4 stat hotel, it's a filthy scamming guesthouse, choose where you stay wisely.
Friendly English-speaking host, would recommend!
Cafe and Restaurants near hotel
I stayed at Nippon Hotel during the end of the year and New Year period. The hotel was fully booked, including many families, yet the overall experience was very good.
The service was excellent, the room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and it fully matched my expectations. Housekeeping and staff support were professional and responsive.
Breakfast offered a good variety of options, and if something was not available, the staff were willing to accommodate special requests, which was appreciated.
The location of the hotel is also very convenient, with easy access to exchange offices, supermarkets, restaurants, and shisha cafés. Overall, it was a pleasant and comfortable stay.
I wish the hotel continued success.
I have stayed at three other hotels in Turkey during this trip, and all of them were good. Only Nippon Hotel made my holiday incomplete. I really regret choosing Nippon Hotel; if I had read other guests’ reviews on Google more carefully, I would not have made this booking.
The breakfast was fair, with a reasonable selection. One of the strongest aspects of the stay was the team at the reception; they were always attentive, responding to guest requests promptly and professionally.
Overall, a comfortable stay with great service and good hospitality. I would happily consider returning.
Thanks to Nancy from the reception she is so helpful and collaborative! Without her the issue was not solved.
I just arrived today at 2 PM, and the room was extremely hot. I asked the reception to check the air conditioning, and they told me it was fixed. I trusted them and went out for the day. When I came back around 10 PM, the room was even hotter!
I called the reception again (different shift this time), and the person told me there’s no cold air, only heating, because the entire building uses central AC. Seriously? Every guest has to accept the same temperature? What if someone wants a cooler room? This makes absolutely no sense.
I told him that if they cannot provide cold air, then please refund my money so I can move to another hotel. He told me to contact Booking.com. I did, and Booking informed me that the hotel just needs to send a confirmation email to approve a refund. However, the reception refused, saying that only the reservation team can do that — and they don’t work on weekends! So now I have to wait until Monday, meaning I’m forced to spend two nights in a room at 29°C!
This is completely unacceptable. Poor management, poor communication, and zero care for guests’ comfort. I am stuck here suffering because of their unprofessional system.
Avoid this hotel unless you enjoy sleeping in a sauna!
