Glk Premier Regency Suites & Spa Hotel in Istanbul

Our stay was a disgusting experience. I have no idea how this hotel maintains a 4-star rating; it was filthy and the advertising was completely misleading.
We booked a room with a 'garden view,' but when we opened the window, we were met with a view of a dirty alley/trash (see Picture 1,2). On the first day, they gave us a room without a bathtub, even though we specifically booked one. They moved us the second day, but the new bathtub was covered in mold (Picture,5,6,7). To make matters worse, there was a constant swarm of ants on the bathroom walls and in the tub during our entire three-day stay (Picture 3,4).
We were honestly scared to sleep and couldn't even bring ourselves to take a shower. We actually ended up getting sick for a week after returning home. The lighting was terrible—several bulbs were missing (Picture 8)—and the carpet was so stained and dirty it looked like it had been pulled off the street (Picture 9,10). I hope nobody else has to go through this

The hotel staff were courteous, and the room featured a sea-view balcony. Initially, everything seemed to be acceptable, but after settling in, I discovered that the carpets were extremely old and filthy, clearly harbouring countless germs. It was simply too dirty. The bathroom fixtures and shower head also appeared to be over ten years old, very dilapidated, and the hairdryer was even older and broken, making it impossible to dry hair properly. I was genuinely concerned about the safety issues related to potential electrical faults. The towel rack was broken, and when I reported this to the staff, they promised it would be repaired the next day. However, three days later, no repair had been carried out. The curtain on the balcony was only half the width of the glass door, offering no real coverage, and it was covered in dirt and dust.

A very serious problem arose afterwards: my husband and I fell ill during our stay. We experienced persistent coughing; during the day, once we left the room, we were fine, but as soon as we returned, the coughing would start again and we couldn't sleep. The blankets in the room felt like they were made from cotton that was at least ten years old—heavy, old, and uncomfortable—and the pillows were the same. Simply lying down made us feel uncomfortable all over.

The hotel relied solely on its sea view to sell the accommodation, completely neglecting the poor condition of the facilities and hygiene standards. Not only did this ruin our entire trip in Istanbul, but it also caused us to cough constantly. We couldn’t sleep peacefully even for a single night. Remarkably, after returning home, our cough disappeared. It is quite obvious that the room was harbouring countless terrifying bacteria and dust mites... the most painful lodging experience of my life!
