Grand Galata Hotel & Spa in Istanbul

The stars are for the view and the mostly welcoming personnell. View is extraordinary, Istanbul at sunset and night becomes almost mystic from your room. Everything else is subpar, paperthin walls, small and smelly bathroom (not their fault, sewage is old), smelly, dirty and crowded outdoors from the fish restaurants underneath and wakeup calls around 5 a.m. from the nearby mosques, so loud that the muezzin seems to be inside the room. Enjoyed the breakfast and the coffee though. No long time parking nearby, we found a decent underground parking in nearby Beyoğlu for 5 days around 500₺/11,33 € the daily tariff.

I would come again! The gentleman managing the hotel is very friendly and always took the time to ask how my day was. The room was clean, but since it was February, it got quite cold. Thankfully, setting the AC to 30 degrees made it comfortable.

The biggest downside for me was the loud music at the reception and the restaurant outside. While the manager kindly lowered the volume at the reception upon request, the music outside remained loud, making it difficult to fall asleep before midnight.

That said, the location is superb! However, for those who dislike the smell of fish, this may not be ideal—grilled fish is prepared outside from 11 AM to midnight, and the fish market is nearby.

Despite these issues, I was overall very happy with my stay.

The rooms have awesome views of the most iconic places in Istambul, but walking in the zone can be a bit eerie, had comfortable beds, air contidioner, very good overall

Small Boutique Hotel...brilliant location with an amazing and fantastically friendly staff! Would definitely stay again
