Emine Sultan Hotel in Istanbul

🌍
Istanbul, Ogul Sokak No14, Fatih
● Center: 1 km
🌞 Sea - 3 min

Highly praised for its location within 5-10 minutes walking distance to major tourist attractions and with lovely sea views. Staff described as friendly, honest, and supportive, with personalized service by the family owners. Breakfast on the terrace with panoramic views was enjoyed by multiple guests. Rooms have comfortable beds and traditional Ottoman-style decoration. Free parking and 24-hour hot water were appreciated amenities. Several reviews mention poor room conditions including old furniture, thin walls, noise disturbances, and cleanliness issues such as dust and mould. WiFi connection was sometimes unreliable according to guests. Room sizes are small, with limited space for luggage and missing basic amenities like refrigerator or toiletries in some rooms. Complaints about lack of daily water supply, absence of kettle, and no phone in rooms. Elevator capacity is limited to two people and hotel entrance has steps, causing accessibility challenges.

I was going to stay for 3 days but I ended up to stay for almost 3 weeks. It is a small, cozy, old style and classic hotel located right at the hot spot location in the old city of Istanbul with the beautiful view. Hotel runs by a family, two brothers Moustafa and Safy, I should apologies if I spelled their names incorrectly. They are truly nice and honest people, very supportive. Together, if you are looking for classic, cozy and friendly place in the old city of Istanbul in 5 to 10 minutes distance from the most tourist attraction and the best view of see of Marmare, then it is your place otherwise if you look for luxury hotel it is not.
I enjoyed all my long staying there, walking in the neighbours and thankful for all the support from Moustafa and Safy.
I am not saying everything is perfect, there are room for improvements and I think they should do. I did check most of the hotels there and compared their price, service and quality. In that respect, it is the best place for the price with nice trustworthy people.

It had a good location, the staff was professional and friendly, their WiFi sometimes went out, they didn't have a toothbrush kit, tissue, and the basics that are required for a four-star international hotel, both the double and twin rooms were very small and there was only space for a medium-sized suitcase in the room, two of the towels were dirty and hairy, the blanket was torn, there was no daily nor welcome water and no amenities, double room 301 didn't even have a refrigerator, the right side of the mattress was completely sunken and you would always slouch while sleeping. The room and furniture were old, the air conditioner vent could fall off at any moment, the walls were very thin and the noise from the hallway and other rooms could be clearly heard, the elevator could only fit two people, the view from the room and the breakfast restaurant was good, the breakfast was not very extensive, there was no phone to call the reception and the other rooms, the room service worked with a QR code which was expensive and they brought one of the dishes wrong and did not bring any spoons or forks and did not refund the rest of the money, the amount of food was also less than in the menu photo! The street noises also came from the window. And if you wanted a transfer from the hotel, it was very expensive. Overall, it was more like a 3-star apartment, not a 4-star hotel!
With all the respect I have for the staff of this hotel, I do not recommend staying there.

The stay was horrible, during the day 2 times when someone from the hotel opened the door with his own key and tried to get into the room without even knocking on the door. No water to drink in the room. No blanket. The king bed was made from 2 small beds. No kettle.

Absolutely Terrible – Worst Hotel Experience in Istanbul

This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It felt more like a run-down hostel than a hotel. The condition of the rooms was shockingly poor—dust everywhere, and clearly not cleaned properly. As someone with asthma and breathing issues, I had to clean the room myself just to be able to stay in it.

The noise was unbearable. You could hear toilet flushes from other rooms at all hours, which was both disgusting and disturbing. I barely slept during my stay.

Breakfast was extremely basic and poorly served, and the staff were not friendly or helpful at all. There was no sense of hospitality.

This experience was so bad that I ended up changing my flight and returning home earlier than planned. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel to anyone—it was a complete waste of money and ruined my trip to Istanbul.

Great hotel. Price was good and location was perfect. Just a 5min walk up the street is the main historical square with the main attractions and a Tram station to walk to in order to get to most attractions. The meeting place for many tours using the EPass were nearby so that was convenient.
There's also little grocery stores, souvenir shops, ice cream and restaurants on the street. The room had the basic things you need, mainly a mini fridge and a comfortable bed. The breakfast on the terrace was tasty with a lovely view, I looked forward to it daily. The staff were so friendly and helpful! Having wifi was great too.

Great little hotel with really lovely staff who look after you.

The rooms are a little on the older side, but they're nice and have some great views. The beds are extremely comfortable.

The breakfast is a basic Turkish spread with some nice variety, there's also cereal and some English choices.

The terrace is awesome with some of the best views of Ayasofya and the blue mosque which are both literally 'around the corner'. I've taken pictures and shared so take a look.

There are plenty of food places near the hotel too.

I spent wonderful week in this nice hotel. A strategic place where you walk to Haigha Sofia in 2 minutes. A breathtaking view at the rooftop showing the sea and the calming voices of the of the birds.

The service is great for the breakfast, the receptionists are friendly, and the rooms are decent, they are not fancy but good. The price for what it delivers is cool!

Highly recommended!

Great location just close to the city center and all top attractions. We enjoyed the breakfast on the top floor with the panaromic view. Prices correspond to the quality I received. I like Basilica Cistern, Topkapi palace, main square, 🌽 corn and fried chestnuts 🌰 as well fish in a bread.
Visited this atmospheric city for the 3rd time in Spring 2018.

This is a rubbish hotel. Everything is broken and dated. The rooms were dirty and minimal. The cables from TV were boobbled up in cellotape and was nit plugged in. The bathroom was mouldy and rusted. The fridge was homed in a cupboard with broken legs and there was strong mouldy smell in the fridge. The blinds once closed would not open again. There was construction noises coming from the surroundings all day and night! The breakfast consisted of one variety of cheap cereal, plate of salami and half cooked eggs where the whites were soaled in the yellow cold runny yolks! The breakfast lady was non existent or on her mobile. Horrific experience overall! I paid £850 for 8 nights but checked out in 1 night! There are decent hotels in this area. This was by far the worst experience in life! The homeless hostels are probably better than this hotel. The reception staff are the only asset to this business.

Emine sultan is a family run business, nestled in a heritage building that is at least a hundred years old. Being this old, the building has first class amenities such as an elevator, hot water 24/7 and central air conditioning. The roof gives an excellent view of the Bosphorus and the blue mosque if you turn around. Room decoration is aligned with ottoman tradition, and the hospitality is great. I’m not very sure if it’s wheelchair accessible because the main entrance has 3 steps to the lobby.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. The service was impeccable, the rooms were spotless and beautifully decorated, and every detail was thoughtfully taken care of.

The location was perfect, the amenities were top-notch, and the overall atmosphere was both relaxing and luxurious. I can confidently say this was one of the best hotel stays I’ve ever had. Highly recommended – I will definitely be coming back!

I stayed at this hotel with my father for 7 days. The location is impeccable. We stayed in one of the rooms facing the hippodrome and it was really worth it. The breakfast was also very good and varied and the view was just wonderful. But the best part of this hotel was its kind, professional and friendly staff. Everyone, from the ladies who prepared breakfast, to the house keepers, to the receptionists, were all extremely warm and friendly. Mr. Mesut, the manager was incredibly helpful and gave us a lot of good guidance on what to do and see. He was really polite, kind nad professional. I can't say enough about how welcome him and his team made us feel. Next time we are in Istanbul, we will do our best to book a room with them again. 5 stars.

Very safe hotel , with a great location, i was very comfortable living in it because its beside a police station.

- breakfast is not varied, repeated , everyday the same food, with a very very small changes
- food is too expensive, i bought a Sandwich for 600TL

Positives :
- Ali is a great guy , helped me a lot , i hope for him a good day
- staff is very cooperative and friendly thanks to them
- the hotel takes the customer reviews seriously

COME DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY! Super fun place if you're looking for a sparklers-DJ-dancing-on-a-rooftop vibe. We went late night for some drinks and caught a PARTY instead. If nightclubs are your scene, there's no better way to do it than here because you also have the best view of the blue mosque.

It was a fantastic experience with wonderful hospitality! We ordered drinks and food, and afterward, they generously brought us tea and some sweets on the house. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. The food was delicious. if I visit Istanbul again, I’d definitely come back here. Also, such an amazing view.

I can only give all the praise for the Hotel and the employees. The hotel is in a great location where everything is available to you. From the moment we arrived, the employees welcomed us very warmly and helped us with our luggage. They were happy to help us with any information we needed. The rooms are tidy and are cleaned every morning. I even received a gift for my birthday that was waiting for me in the room to my wonderful surprise. My rating is 10. All recommendations from the bottom of my heart. I can very happily recommend this hotel. Thank you and see you next time. Greetings from Bosnia and Herzegovina
