I just finished a stay at the Hotel Otrada in Odessa, Ukraine. I chose the hotel because it was near the beach and most reviews were 5-star. I will add mine to that category. I like boutique hotels like this one

It was s classic room with an actual key instead of a key card but that just adds to the charm. Having breakfast in the enclosed front terrace was a great way to start the day. I'll be happy to stay there again

Everything was done very cool, I can’t believe that this is Ukraine

The hotel is located in a large 1980s/1990s (opened 1987 back then being the Kyiv's first sky scraper hotel) building on the eastern shore of the Dnipro (called "left shore" as it is when looking along the river's flow direction)

The Metro station "Livyberehska" is just around the corner, about a minute walk away, and Kyiv's center is 5 stops (less than 10 minutes) away from there. The hotel room we had was clean and tidy, even slightly spacious

Decent rooms , very helpfull staff

The bathroom was not very modern but OK. There was air conditioning (should be switched off when sleeping because the air flow is directed straight to the bed), a television set and a fridge available

If you really want a western-style breakfast this one is probably not for you. While there are muffins, white bread (and a toaster), marmelade, cheese and sausage the selection is not impressive

So in order to charge a mobile phone or attach a laptop we needed to unplug the TV set or the fridge. Here the hotel's age (and lack of thorough modernisation) takes its toll

Nice cosy place in the city centre. The room is clean. New furniture and bathroom. The hot water was not as hot as I prefer. And there is no connection to reception. There is no elevator.

If there were a way to get a fan in the window it would be fine There was broken pipe in the city that shut off water to the hotel. The hotel did a great job of providing large bottled water to the rooms

Wifi coverage is terrible, and cell coverage is spotty. The hot tub temperature is inconsistent - either a luke warm 35 or scalding 50. The pool is amazing, and the sauna is great - stream room, Finnish, or infrared
