We stayed at the Empress Hotel in La Jolla and really enjoyed the location. It is close to restaurants, shops, and the beautiful La Jolla coastline, which made it very convenient for our visit. The hotel is comfortable and an affordable option for anyone wanting to stay in the area.
Our stay had a few bumps along the way, but the manager ultimately worked with us and helped make things right. We appreciated the final resolution and the effort to address our concerns. Overall, we were glad things ended on a positive note and appreciated the convenience of the hotel’s location for a wedding we were attending.

My one-night stay was short but very sweet! This hotel is in a great location and within walking distance of the Village of La Jolla and the Cove. The front desk staff (Joshua, Eric and Hailey) constantly and consistently went the extra mile, effortlessly, which helped me to stay on track with a very tight schedule; the room was exquisite; and the ambience of the hotel was warm and welcoming. Breakfast on the patio while watching the water fountain was enchanting. Having onsite access to "Manhattan of La Jolla", a highly decorated, classic New York-style Italian steakhouse and piano bar located inside the hotel was a treat! Overall, this 5-star experience provides excellent concierge/customer service and top notch room cleanliness.

Service and location are great! All the staff were really nice and accommodating during our stay. We had issues with laundry and they promptly helped us. Location is walkable to the beach and many restaurants. The hotel itself is a bit outdated but great value with free breakfast!

Loved being there - great location - could walk to beach and many bars and restaurants. Girls at the desk were fabulous - fun to speak with, had knowledge about the area and were very accommodating. Rooms with king beds have a nice little seating area. It was a perfect place to stay to attend a rooftop wedding. Five stars!

Beautiful and wonderful staff! I stayed here for a wedding close to the hotel. It was partially booked from a third party (blame the husband lol) but I added a night from the official site.
I was so worried about changing rooms the DAY of the wedding, but Tenasha (I hope I spelled that right, apologies of not) and Sydney were very helpful and accommodated my guest and me well.
I didn't get to chat with the night employee as much but he always greeted me (even at 1am) with a smile and nod.
Overall, I would absolutely stay here again! The staff are amazing and so welcoming. The place is secure and safe, the rooms are nice and kept well. It really was one of the BEST experiences of my life.
Thank you so much to the staff for all you did. Again, I'm sorry I can't remember the night staff's names.... I was just at an open bar reception and wedding the two days I was there. But everything is amazing!
Oh and the breakfast? DELICIOUS! These folks really do their best to make you FEEL the best.
Will 120% go again and am planning a trip this fall for the same place.
OH! Also, it's on a main street in the downtown area. I walked for hours just enjoying myself. Such a great location, hotel accommodations, and overall atmosphere was.... AMAZING.
I danced all night, two nights in a row, and this place helped me feel REFRESHED everyday I woke up!

Lovely hotel - the rooms were big and spacious , very clean and the nice. The location of this hotel is excellent - it’s walkable from great restaurants, la Jolla Beach and accessible by cabs and bus . I would stay here agian

The room was nice, but it smelled damp. I guess it's because it's been there for a long time! It's very convenient to go to the beach. The kids like the American breakfast very much. Parking is free. We just need to park the car at the door. When we check in, we can get a card by giving her the car key. When we go out, we can show her the card and get the car. This is great. The kids like it here and said they will stay here next time.
