My daughter, 20 years old and I (name changed), 50 years old, made a round trip across the U.S.A in August / September of 2017. Besides New York, Las Vegas, Orlando, Los Angeles and San Francisco, we also visit Miami Beach. We were picked up at the Miami airport with a black bus labeled Lorraine Hotel. The bus stopped at a rather run-down building with barred windows. We thought of a mistake. As we entered the lobby, our nose and a sudden scratch in our throat made us realize that everything was wet and moldy. In the hall was a sitting area on a very dirty and old carpet. We knew immediately that we would not stay there. We knew, we have no alternative and 2 suitcases in the luggage, so we booked a room first for one night. The elevator was narrow and hung with a tattered cardboard. We didn’t want to touch anything here with our fingers. We had our room on the first floor. When we left the elevator our eyes fell immediately on the carpet in the hall, which must have been blue at some point. We’ve stayed in a lot of hotels, but this blew up the frame and was just not to be exceeded by dirt and disgust !!! Please take a look at the photos of the room, especially from the mattress. My stomach is turning around, if I thought to this time. We checked out immediately, because we knew ... Nothing in the world could be worse, as to stay here. Who would like to lie down in such a bed ?? We searched for a long time and found the "Redbury Hotel"in the early evening. This was a bit more expensive, but at least clean and overall in an acceptable condition. You will find moisture problems everywhere in Miami and Orlando. With an outside temperature of 40 ° - 45 ° degrees and an interior temperature of 18 ° - 20 ° degrees, this is no surprise. If you are looking for thermo windows with triple glazing or even a tight door - no indication. Where heat combined with ultra-high humidity, meets air conditioners that simply add a little pineapple or flower extract to avoid penetrating mildew odors. Nobody should be surprised if the condensation only runs down the front door with single glazing. However, there is, as just mentioned as a small tip, also affordable hotels in Miami Beach, the problems have quite well under control. We recommend everyone not to be fooled by the fancy lobby photo of the Lorraine Hotel, which appears almost everywhere on the portals. This image was probably taken 10 years ago, immediately after the renovation of the entrance hall, and has nothing to do with the current state.
