Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilikai in Honolulu

I wish I could give this place zero stars. Our experience at the Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilikai was appalling, and I would never recommend it to anyone, especially those with elderly family members.

The entire ordeal started when the front desk manager accused my 85-year-old, wheelchair-bound father of wetting the bed. This accusation was made without any evidence, and the manager herself never witnessed anything to justify it. To make matters worse, she made a completely inappropriate and disrespectful remark about the property “not being a hospice.”

This comment was not only uncalled for but deeply hurtful. My mother, who grew up on the island, was there for a funeral, grieving the loss of her younger sister. The last thing she needed was to be treated so poorly and made to feel like second-class citizens. I can’t even begin to describe how painful it was to see my parents, Island natives and Wyndham timeshare owners, treated this way.

To top it off, they placed a $3,500 security hold on our credit card for a mattress—an amount so absurd it’s borderline offensive. We’ve visited this property many times before, but I can promise you that my parents will NEVER stay here again. In fact, I would rather sleep on the beach than go through another experience like this.

While the room itself was adequate albeit outdated, this was, without a doubt, the worst experience we’ve ever had with Wyndham timeshares. I understand that accommodating every need can be challenging, but there’s no excuse for the level of disrespect we were shown. To insult your guests, make false assumptions, and then charge an outrageous fee is beyond outrageous. Stay far away from this property!
