If I could give 3.5 stars, I would — but Google only allows full stars. All three stars are for location and staff, which are truly top tier.

First, the good:

The location is unbeatable. You’re right in the heart of Waikīkī — across the street from Halekulani and Outrigger, steps from the beach, next to ABC (which is everywhere), and right by Roy’s. You can literally walk across the street to Orchids at Halekulani. If walkability matters to you, this spot is elite.

The staff is the epitome of the Aloha Spirit.
Leanne was wonderful, and there was a gentleman whose name I believe is Aaron (or possibly Eric — apologies if I got that wrong), who went above and beyond to help me even though he didn’t have to. I’m actually moving to Hawaiʻi, and his kindness and guidance meant a lot. Their service alone deserves five stars.

Now the honest part:

The property itself is extremely outdated.
We stayed in room 1807 on the 18th floor, and the carpet was so worn and dirty that we had to wear shoes and socks the entire time. The fold-out sofa bed area was especially bad.

The bathroom off the living room had visible mold in the shower, and the entire unit feels like it hasn’t been renovated since the early 80s — maybe even late 70s. I took photos of everything.

This is definitely not a modern “resort” experience. The building is tired, and it shows.

Important to note:
The Imperial does not have a restaurant or bar, but there is a cool speakeasy downstairs in the lobby area (separate from the hotel itself). I was there for three weeks and only went once — not because it wasn’t good, but because Waikīkī has so many great bars to explore.

Bottom line:
If you care about location, walkability, and warm Hawaiian hospitality, you’ll love it.
If you care about modern rooms, updated interiors, and luxury finishes, this is not your place.

The staff and location carry this property. The rooms desperately need renovation.

It is an older hotel and the rooms need a major update, some of the rooms look like they are from the 1990s minus the flat screen test. The bathtub in my room was partly broken and if you stepped near the drain the fiber glass would shift and snap.

With that said, I know ive painted a rather grim picture, but youre not here to stay in a hotel room, this hotel is great for walking to places, and its a short walk to the beach. The staff here were amazing and helpful, and I can not praise them enough, that said if you stay here go to the misubi cafe that is next door for a cheap meal, and the bakery around the corner for a coffee and a snack. I highly recommend this area and the staff, but there is room for improvement.

Our favorite place to stay on Waikiki. The Valet Parking is the best. Location is 1/2 block to the ocean through or in front of the Sheraton Hotel.
The rooms are well appointed. Full kitchen with all the basics, plus extras you can borrow from Housekeeping, like a rice cooker, air fryer or blender.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.

It's not the most affordable, but is a decent location in Waikiki - quite a few shops and restaurants within walking distance. Valet parking only, unfortunately. Wish they would let you know that they pop in every so many days to pick up your trash. We didn't need or want housekeeping during our stay so we weren't expecting any staff to come in. Good thing we weren't in the shower or anything. Room's a little squishy since they're trying to accommodate upwards of 6 people (in our suite). Very inconveniently and randomly placed furniture, but good thing we're small/skinny people and it was only the 2 of us, lol. Very tight quarters if there's more people. Room was clean and nice otherwise. We didn't have the greatest view, but it wasn't a big deal for us. We could see a peek of the beach. Noise is interesting (it is Waikiki after all) so not for light or early sleepers. The master bedroom area was always freezing for me (which is probably perfect for others - my guess is it was around 70F and I freeze at 75F) and we couldn't figure out how to make it warmer/turn the AC off. The AC would turn off in the living room area, though. Great fitness center! Nice pool on the roof though we didn't partake (or the sauna).

The Imperial Resort was an absolute 10/10 for our first family trip from Australia to Hawaii. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredible friendly, welcoming and so easy to communicate with. Every team member we encountered genuinely seemed to enjoy working there, which made the whole experience feel even more special.

Our room was fantastic, and the facilities were a huge win for the kids. The pool, spa, hot tubs, sauna, and gym kept everyone entertained and made our stay feel like a true holiday retreat.

And the location… unbeatable. Right in the heart of Waikiki with everything at our doorstep including one of the best ABC Stores in all of Waikiki right in the same building.

The Imperial exceeded our expectations in every way, and when we return to Hawaii, we will 100% stay here again. Highly recommend!

It was a great value for three people with two bathrooms.
The view from the pool was amazing.
When I pulled the curtains to go to bed, the rail fell off. I told housekeeping the next day, and when I got back that evening, it was fixed.
I was surprised because there's a saying in Hawaii that goes, "Hawai'i time."

There is a dishwasher, but it leaks, and the TV is broken. There is no room cleaning, and you have to change your towels yourself. The hot tub on the third floor is nice, but not a jetted tub.

Great food and drinks, awesome range of sport to watch and you even get your own speaker to listen to whatever TV you are watching at the time. Will come back and spend more time there. A must visit in Waikiki for the sports bar drinker.

Stayed nearby at the Sheraton so just a easy 5-minute walk. Our party of eleven was seated quickly, within a couple minutes of arriving and all service fast and friendly. Large TVs surrounds dining areas with a good variety of sports. Food arrived also quickly and hot, with generous portions and plenty to share. Would suggest picking a few items to share instead of one dish per person unless you’re really hungry! Had to go for the pastrami sandwich and wasn’t disappointed. The corned beef and pastrami eggs Benedict with country potatoes was a little salty, but one has to figure that it’s got two meats combined so it will naturally be like so. Would return for drinks and dessert... was just too full from the large portions to order any!

What I ordered: pineapple ballpark sausage w/fries. Couple of beers.

My experience: great service all around, plenty of TVs to watch any game (15+ around the bar), hostess and bartender were extremely helpful and customer friendly

My food: Please never order the pineapple ballpark sausage from this place...yes there was tiny bits of pineapple in half of the sausage but it was bland and they for some reason served it with salsa, the bun was terrible and way too much for the dog, and I could cook a better dog in my college kitchen. The fries were, surprisingly, on point, crisp, with more than an expected share.

Evaluation: I’ll come here to watch a game, but I’ll only drink beers

WORST PF CHANG'S LOCATION EVER AND I'VE BEEN TO MANY!!!! I guess because this location is a major tourist attraction they are okay with being mediocre. You'd think this location would be top notch so tourists don't go back home with a bad taste in their mouth but I guess mediocre service for tourists is acceptable at this location. I feel like I was robbed especially at $15.50 for a plate of fried rice that sucked!! All of our food was wrong and had to be corrected twice and the corrected food wasn't very good either. It definitely wasn't the PF Chang's food I've come to know by visiting a few different locations. To top it off, our waiter almost cheated us 50 dollars. The ticket was for 85 dollars. We put a 50 dollar bill and a credit card inside the book. When he came back, the receipt showed he charged the full amount on the credit card and also kept the 50 dollar bill. When questioned, the waiter said "oh I'm sorry I thought that 50 was a 10 and thought it was my tip." We were extremely disappointed because we love PF Chang's and were hoping that while on our vacation in Hawaii we could have a nice dinner at PF Chang's but I suppose that was asking for too much. ?

Love that PF Chang's offers glutten free but wish they would offer the fried rice as a side dish as well. I like the beef and broccoli with fried rice.

Score is lowest because service was less than expected. Beef and broccoli dish was only half the size I get on the mainland. They didn't offer chop sticks and were very skimpy with white rice on my daughter's order.

We we're welcomed by a not so friendly hostess but once we we're seated I fell in love. Our waiter was so very nice and very attentive. Loved their lo mein noodles and the plates to share! Great prices for the large plates. Would absolutely go again just hope the hostess would be more friendly and inviting! Possible a smile as well.

We had a really good time. The buffet was delicious and they also had vegan and vegetarian options.
The dancers were amazing as well as the singers, and the host was very informative.
Personally, I loved the evening show. We could see the sunset, the Diamond Head and all of Waikiki Beach in the background. It was truly magical.

I've been to every luau on the island and this one has hands down got to be the absolute best. Literally the only upscale luau on the island. It was incredible!! Service was great, food was OUT OF THIS WORLD, setting was gorgeous, show was very entertaining, the capacity of the luau was small about 100 so it felt intimate and it wasn't super noisy, we ate on actual dishes (not plastic/paper like other luaus) and the cash bar was great too!! Had an amazing time. 10/10 would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone and EVERYONE!!!

Paid almost $400 (2ppl) to watch a pretty boring show. The restaurant next-door has a patio where you can watch the entire thing for free and choose the food you want. The food is my biggest complaint. Buffet style with IHOP quality. Advice, eat next door and watch show for free. The dancers were tired and not in sync. So wrong to take advantage of tourists like this.

While we were staying at the Royal Hawaiian, we went to the Aha'aina dance show/celebration during the week of Christmas and we very much enjoyed it. The weather was not very favorable that night, but all the RH staff were very friendly and accommodating, and we were promptly assigned to a table inside the restaurant.

Though not lavish, the buffet was quite good. The Aha'aina dance show was excellent – with many type of dances, including the iconic Hawaiian dance and fire performance, were all performed accordingly – so there was simply no need to get to the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Note: Seat selection is on a first-come-first-served basis so try to arrive early if you can.
