I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. It’s right in the French Quarter, so everything is within walking distance and very convenient if you’re trying to explore, eat, or go out. That’s honestly the highlight.

Aside from that, the stay itself was just okay—nothing impressive. The biggest issue was the unexpected charges. When I arrived, I was charged a $120 deposit twice. One is still pending, and another charge (around $110) was actually taken and hasn’t been refunded, with no clear explanation.

I had already paid for my stay through a third-party app, so I was not expecting to be charged additional fees like that at check-in. There was no clear communication about these charges beforehand, which made the whole situation frustrating and confusing.

At this point, I don’t even know what the $110 charge was for. The lack of transparency and unexpected fees really ruined the experience for me.

Great location, but poor communication and billing issues. Thumbs down.

Overall stay was okay. The best part was the location. Customer service was terrible. I already paid in full when booked the room. There was a cancellation flight prior to check in due to bad weather condition. I informed them as soon as I know. But things didn’t sort out until 3 days later. When checking in they told us the reservation was no longer available. I am a frequent traveler. This was my worst experience that I ever experienced. I would not suggest to anyone or staying here again.

Checked into our room today for a 5 day stay. Off to a great start. Missed the valet fellas name, but he met us with a huge smile and ready to help. Eric the Bellman rounded up our luggage and offered plenty of tips to enjoy our stay. Super friendly and professional. Joy at the front desk was top notch. Friendly and helpful. Nice room with a Bourbon street view. Joy told us about a few places in the hotel where my family can go to play board games. The lobby isn't built for that. If our entire stay is half as good as day 1, we are in good shape.

I want to give a huge shoutout to Brian, who truly went above and beyond during my stay. He was extremely informative and attentive every single time I crossed paths with him. Even when I didn’t ask, he took the initiative to explain things, give directions, and make sure I knew exactly where everything was. That level of awareness and care really stood out.
What impressed me most was when I was speaking with the front desk about finding a balcony to smoke. Brian overheard the conversation and didn’t just point or give vague directions he actually walked over and physically showed me where the balcony was. That extra effort made things so much easier and showed how committed he is to guest comfort. Brian’s professionalism, kindness, and willingness to help made my stay much more enjoyable. Employees like him are the reason guests return. This hotel is lucky to have him, and I truly appreciate his outstanding service.

The Astor has a charming lobby and friendly staff, but it has some problems. At night in our room we found a cockroach on the wall, and after killing it, it was hard to find on the brown-patterned carpet, which may be the reason for the brown color (and for the poor lighting? only a few lamps aside from the entrance and bathroom). I booked the hotel for a conference, through the conference the cost + tax was about $200 per night, and the package did not include breakfast. Therefore, we needed to shop for food and keep some in the room - luckily there is a refrigerator and there are CVS & Walgreens very close by. But the room has no bowls, cups, or utensils, and we asked twice with a positive response but did not receive any. Furthermore, after I accumulated cups and utensils from the conference or from restaurants, housekeeping threw them out when we were not looking, so after that we had to hide them whenever leaving the room. There is no complimentary water, hot pot, coffee, or microwave in the room. At first the heat was not working but to their credit that was fixed immediately. There is hot water for the shower, and good WiFi. The hotel has a central location near shopping, food, and entertainment, but the flip side is that there is very loud music from the street until 3 AM or so (our windows did face the street on a lower floor).

Loved the room wish I could’ve had a better view, was facing a building lol. The air conditioning was freezing thermostat didn’t work. For older handicapped people a higher toilet would have been better. The first keurig wasn’t working and it should have two blankets in the room since it was a two queen beds. But THE FRONT DESK CREW ESPECIALLY JOYWAS A JOY JOY JOY JOY❤️❤️! The double duo was charming smiling we took pictures with we felt like family. Love you guys ❤️❤️
Also Eric the Bell Person was a Complete Gentleman! Very friendly communicative knowledgeable and helpful to me and my girlfriend. Definitely represent your hotel!❤️

Was there in December, it was quite cold in the room and since it was having a window to canal street also quite noisy. The room was ok but the other facilities are quite worn.

I read reviews ALOT. This time tho my husband planned the entire trip, so I was unsure, right off Bourbon what we would be walking into. Always a party...Right? EVERY staff member was friendly and most helpful. But, Im friendly so there's that. Our room was clean. We had everything we needed. I will tell you tho if you like a firm mattress with AMAZING pillows this place may not be for you. Also if you like your showers cold with no water pressure this place isn't for you. HOT WATER that felt great after a long day of walking. We even had a spotless little fridge that we filled with candy apples from right next door and POPEYES and of course leftovers from Golden Wall which has the best fried rice. We will definitely be back...GREAT PLACE TO STAY!!!!!

It's right there at the corner of Bourbon and Canal Streets, and you can't beat that location.

The place is a bit old but very clean and their breakfast is great. And there is a great ice cream place beside the hotel and restaurants all around.

On vacation, beat my friends into town so I stopped here because it seemed a little nicer than walking further down Bourbon. Super attentive (and attractive!) wait staff, tried to local drinks (Sazerac) and some local beers, ended up bringing my friends back later. The crowd was good with a solid ambience and some college football to watch. Will stop by if I'm in town again.

Great atmosphere! We sat at the oyster bar and made new friends! Fantastic raw oysters (but that's a NOLA given), gigantic steamed shrimp. Great place to rest and refresh. The menu item is pretty much the same as everywhere else, but you can pick out lighter options if you need a break from the fried and smothered.

We didn't have a reservation so we had to wait an hour 1/2. The service was great, the bread and oysters were amazing, we also ordered the crab cake and the crab stuffed fish we didn't like it at all. The waiter had it removed from our check that was nice. It wasn't worth the wait for us.
19.11.2017 David
Ordered their smothered chicken plate to go. One of the best smothered chicken plates I've ever tasted. And we were lucky to get it. When we got there dinner had not started. They were still serving lunch. But one of the chefs was nice enough to let us order their smothered chicken plate. And it was outstanding. The chicken was made perfectly. Tender, moist, plenty of flavor, well seasoned. The gravy was just as delicious. It made for a great combination. Two thumbs up for the smothered chicken plate.

The inside of the restaurant was very clean and the staff very helpful. Again I appreciate the Shelf willing to take in order from their dinner menu before dinner actually started.

Cons - I waited a while for someone to finally come serve me (He was pretty fast though). I get the char broiled oysters and ads the crab meat, I wouldn't recommend them here. They tasted fishy and I had a lot of crumbled oyster shell parts in my oysters. There was very little crab meat for the extra price they charge. I got no napkins, until I asked.
Pros - Food did come out pretty quick. The Riesling here was sweet, which I like. The crab fingers were actually pretty good.

Good food served with attentive staff. We had the bar menu due to hurricane Nate but it didn't disappoint. Excellent service

Food was really good! Im a picky eater and I don't eat seafood. I had lobster with my prime rib and the lobster was amazing, I'm obsessed now and love lobster. The best prime rib ever, all the food was very well seasoned. The mashed potatoes were also amazing!

Me and my family just had dinner here and the food was incredible. Otis our server was incredible, and Gene his assistant were so attentive and very professional. Take good care of these guys and they will do the same in return. When I come back I will come back again!!!

Very Popular even in November means crowded in the morning. The coffee is good and the Beignets are great. Prices are reasonable,

Excellent place to chill for a while found in the midst of the craziness of bourbon street. Beignets and the coffee are great. Live music when we were there. Worth a check out.
01.12.2017 Bill
1984! The beignets are delicious - served hot, crunchy around the edges, and smothered in powdered sugar. Staff are attentive and kind. Prices are inflated but the French quarter caters to tourists, so that's to be expected. Make sure to clap for the guitarist and leave the staff a big tip!!
25.11.2017 Daniel
Lovely open courtyard with live music but don't come if looking for friendly helpful service
24.11.2017 simonali6819
Live music in the courtyard is great, but the service at the cafe and the bar next door left a lot to be desired. Went twice, but quickly left the second time as there was no table service and I didn't relish being served by the abrupt barman who pours you a drink in about 5 seconds and then tells you to leave his tip in a bucket on the bar...
