Decent hotel aside from the fact that when I was awoken at 5am to the ceiling falling down in the room and water pouring into the room I was provided no compensation. I found out later the room upstairs had clogged their toilet which means the water pouring onto my head and suitcase was less than sanitary. While I was packing up to evacuate the room, plaster continued to fall from the ceiling nearly missing my head.

While I understand this issue was out of the hotel's control, I was given a smaller room for the rest of the stay and charged the same rate. There was no compensation aside from the verbal condolences of the staff. When I asked the staff during checkout I was told there was no "incidentals" on the room. Overall the lack of responsibility taken by The Fairfax at Embassy Row seems to be a theme. Their website states that they had recent security breach and customer data (credit card information, user's information) was exposed. Seems like there is a theme from The Fairfax of not taking responsibility. Just a heads up if you are looking to stay here.

Sharp service, nice large rooms; GREAT location, nice English style bar on the first floor. No restaurant for dinner, but they have a buffet breakfast which is fine but pricey; sit in Nancy Reagan's booth overlooking the hood; nice horse art; note all rooms here have a beige yellow décor, for me and others the yellow is too bright and hard to be restful, also ask for a quiet room in the back, the hotel is on busy Mass Ave and there is lots of noise. Great staff and they will remember you if you return a second time or more---I do.

+ My wife & I stayed from Friday to Sunday for trip to see Washington DC during an Embassy Open House weekend. It was across the street from the Indian and Indonesian embassies! We were given a very quiet room on top (8th) floor. The King bed room had room to move and accommodate a second fold-out luggage rack holder. We enjoyed the complimentary morning coffee.
- While the $49 valet parking was expensive, when it was combined with the discounted site hotel rate, then the overall price, convenience and value for the hotel package was very good.

+ This is a hotel that is a great value. The first floor of the hotel was recently redone and now is sleek. The location is a five minute walk to the metro or walkable to a lot of great restaurants and businesses.
- Once you get into the elevator you step back in time 10+ years in style and quality. The elevatorare worn as well as the upper floors and rooms. While dated they are still in good condition. The bathrooms have been updated. A big disappointment is that the rooms are very technology unfriendly. Neither nightstand has any outlets. I had to move a nightstand significantly to have access to an electrical outlet since like most people I charge my phone while I sleep and it also acts as my alarm. Also the is a rack to set up you luggage but once I did set it up I couldn’t get around the bed.

- Rooms were beginning to show wear, torn curtain and rug. Looks like the renovation of the hotel has begun in the great downstairs, hopefully it continues upward.

Stayed here with my MUN trip 3 nights and 4 days. The rooms were cozy and warm-feeling like the other reviews mentioned. The bathrooms had everything I needed. For its price, it was perfectly fine. I hope they finish renovations soon.

However only 4 stars because every. Single. Room. Had. The. Same. Framed. Picture of the Jefferson and Lincoln memorial. Boo

Restaurant is closed they serve a cold cont. breakfast in a ballroom for now. Good location though in a historic building. Al Gore grew up in this building when it was apartments. Pres. Reagan and his wife used to dine here when it was more posh.

I loved this hotel!! The Washington Historical vibe was great and my room felt homey. Bedding was awesome, great decor and my room was incredibly clean!! The work they’re doing on the hotel didn’t affect my stay at all and customer service was top-rate! Love the DuPont area- Mission Restaurant was great for happy hour and dinner, skip Darlington’s. There’s so much there- definitely will stay at the Fairfax again!!?
