Location, Location, location
This is a very old hotel that has never been closed for remodeling. The rooms are stark, small and often noisy, but clean and supply everything you need for a great visit. We walked everywhere, including museums, tours, and restaurants. The staff was a high point because they were friendly and tried to accommodate any need that they could. Don't be afraid to ask! It's definitely a trade-off; a reasonable price and a great location but not a particularly nice room.

The hotel is dated, but I found it clean and I would stay here again. The location cannot be beat if you want to be close to all the sight of DC. I found the neighborhood safe and I walked around one night after dark. The hotel does need a serious update and if you’re looking for luxury, this is not the place. The staff were all great! I did find the staff at Harriett’s (attached restaurant) a little rude.

Don't let the pictures fool you. The rooms are very cramped and the bathroom is a size of a coffin. Had to ask for fans from the front desk because the room was so hot. The door to the room wouldn't lock the one night we were here and was told "the maintenance man will be here in the morning, so just lock the door from the inside and you'll be ok". Yes the hotel is old but trust when I say stay away.

Very old rooms, Bathroom door does not work, dirty beds, no coffee machines, no microwave, WI-FI does not work inside the room. Stay away from this hotel

Hotel was dated, as everyone has noted, but the bed was clean and comfortable. I probably wouldn’t have stayed here with young children because the carpet was kinda gross and the outlets- let’s just say I didn’t use a hair dryer out of fear it would blow a fuse, but my 18 y/o daughter and I were attending a show at The Warner Theater, which is directly across the street and the safety of the closeness and city-wide location for the price could not be better. Perfect for our 1 night snooze for that purpose. Room had a small refrigerator, which many nicer/pricier hotels I have stayed at did not! Downside- it’s not even cold out but the radiator banged all night and the room was stuffy, our neighbors chain-smoked allllllll night and the smell was choking me, and finally, the “double beds” are very small. If my husband was here, it would have been truly uncomfortable with two of us in bed, and we are not larger people, so bear that in mind. All in all, quick visit, place to put your head that felt safe, was inexpensive and right near all of the big tourist areas.

Ok. You have to consider why you’re looking at hotels in this price range. If you’re looking for location, look no further! It’s very close to many of the local sights. Whitehouse, Washington monument, National Mall, Constitution Avenue, National Archives, Fords Theatre and others all within walking distance. It’s firmly down town so you’ve got varied restaurant and shopping options. However, it is not modern nor (more concerning) particularly clean. The hotel is shabby. Public areas neglected. Our room (on the 4th floor) was not as clean as it should be. The carpets were grubby. The edges of the carpet, under/around the bed was dirty. There was a half inch of dust and grime (no exaggeration) on top of the “art” on the walls. The A/C was choked with dust and archaic. There was a wire running around part of the room, I don’t know where it came from nor where it was going. BUT the bathroom was clean (rust stains around the plug not withstanding) and the bedding was clean - for some these are the most important aspects. The wifi was very good and free. My son and I were in town for a football game, and relatively happy to take things “rough and ready”. If my wife had been with us we wouldn’t have even put the suitcases down before turning around and walking out!

We have prepared before staying at this hotel, and maybe because we have no expectations at all , we can kinda accept the old room. Only soap are offered in the room, but with such great location and price, we have nothing to complain about. They offer to keep your luggage after you check out, which is what we need.

It was ok. An older, in fact historic, hotel so take that into consideration when booking and you will enjoy what the Harrington has to offer. It is pretty good value for money for the location in Washington DC. Very close to Smithsonian museums, shops and eatery’s.

Great location, but a dive. Bathroom was about the size of a large closet. Musty smell. No idea how to run hvac and my room was freezing. I slept in a hoodie to keep warm. No counter space in the bathroom. I would never stay here again. It felt like staying at grandma’s house.

Ok not writing anything new. The hotel is what I expected. It is old, rooms and hotel are very dated. It is in no way a nice hotel. It is clean and in a safe area. Great location ( you can walk to the mall, metro is also close by) and price is right. DO NOT stay at the Harrington if: *you plan to spend a lot of your time in your room * you like nice hotels with modern amenities Let’s face it if they updated the hotel the nightly rate would probably at least double. If you book just enjoy the location so you can explore DC and spend the money you saved on a nice dinner

Really nice! The food was good and as a one-person patron, I was still attended to rather often. I would definitely go back there again.

7.89$ Black and Tans with the tan being Sam Adams. Very attentive staff.
6$ Sam Adams on Sat afternoons. Burgers are pre-cooked. Iowa State alumni club gathers here.

Second d Visit, First Review (Dec. 2017) The first visit was approximately 1 year ago at the "sister" location on I and 19th. On both I had their bread pudding and a few Guinness My travel partner on this occasion ordered the turkey wrap with a side salad. First and importantly, this is a pub. If you enjoy this kind of setting, wood bar and paneling with booth seating and the Irish-style accrutremonts, you should be comfortable here. The bread pudding was served this time with two "puffs" of whip cream. (Prefer one scoop of vanilla ice cream) The pudding was served hot and the texture was rich and fairly substantial on the tongue with a slight egg and nutmeg hint. The Guinness was what you expect, Guinness, no complaints. The turkey wrap was of good taste and portion but did not stand out. The salad was fresh and enjoyable. The service was friendly and efficient, though our visit was at an off-site time. The bathroom was appropriately clean and there were paper towels for use. A solid 4 ?'s. Cheers!

Don't bother. I waited 5 minutes to be even acknowledged by the servers. Then I waited 20 minutes at my table while trying to grab the server's attention but she ignored me. I tried ordering at the bar but the server said that I would be helped in a moment. I finally left after wasting 30 minutes and grabbing my own menu. It felt like a surreal dream where you're invisible.

Dinner here on a Thursday night. Comfortable place, sat at the bar. Excellent service, good drinks and very good dinner. Had the Bangers and Mash. Recommended.

We have come to this location as well as a number is others on numerous occasions and have always gotten great service until today. We waited almost an hour for our food and on top of it our daughters food didn't come out with the rest. She waited another 10 minutes. Food was cold and our friend complained his burger bun was mushy. It was not even busy, the place was pretty empty the entire time. Hope this is not a sign of the direction this one is going in.

Service was great! Walked in with 30 people. They handled it like champs. Food great, beer was great too. For sure will return
30.12.2017 Daniela
We waited at least 10 minutes in this place and nobody came to show the menu nor to bring some drink. One of the waitresses was talking to some customers, saw us and kept talking to them all the time. The other one crossed us 3 times and didnt say anything. We decided to leave and we went to the bar across the street, where we were served right away, without waiting for!!!
Bad for you Gordon Biersch to have such shameful service!!!
27.12.2017 Jason
This is a great place to stop and get a bite to eat or grab a drink. Best beer prices in the city, probably because it is their own beer. Try out their beers with a sampler, then order a bigger one. It is not the best beer or food, but its a safe bet. The pretzel we ordered had way to much salt on it, but its pretty big and good for at least two people. When we walked in the host wasn't there so we stood there for about 5 minutes before a server helped us. I would try and find another place to eat or drink, since this is just another chain, but if you can't decide or just want some apps and beer, or you're staying close by, then it is not a bad choice. For the beer sampler, it is only five bucks, super cheap, but when they bring them out they just place them on the table, next to the beer list, so no fancy presentation and you are not sure if you're actually drinking the beer they said it was, but it is only five bucks. The garlic fries are not a bad choice either, I would not call them legendary, but they are a safe choice.
21.12.2017 Anna
Waited at least 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged by our server, and then over an hour for food to arrive. Our server messed up our drink order. Lack of service would've been ok had the food at least been good or unique but sadly it was neither. We would've been better off going to the shake shack across the street.

It was normal. Nothing special. Staff were okay.

Small dining area. Homeless man inside asking everyone for money and staff never made him leave
19.08.2017 Alex
The service itself was terrible. I agree to acknowledge that foreign workers are less likely to understand their customers. However, such language barrier prevented an ideal quality. Moreover, we resorted to complete two transactions for one meal due to their inability to properly process the order(We ordered few salads with Gucamoli and they forgot to add them up.) I am well aware that Subway usually trains their employees. But I'd really advise to select employees with basic knowledge of English.
02.07.2017 Timothy
First of all the oatmeal raisin cookies are easily a highlight of this particular Subway. This is one of the most popular eateries in the food court as it will be alive during lunch time rush the staff is friendly and quick. Pretty good choice within the Ronald Reagan Building

Lots of space to sit, and reasonable rates. There was not wait when I went in.
