Hotel Encamp

My husband and I visited the Encamp Hotel with our 3 teenage boys for a new year ski trip. We were expecting a basic set up as the hotel is 3 star but were shocked at the complete lack of comfort available anywhere in the hotel. The beds were hard, pillows worse and not a single drawer to store clothes. Having said that the rooms were warm and there was always hot water. We were staying half board, but ended up eating out most nights as the evening meals on offer were dreadful and weren’t even warm. The soup was inedible and cold. Not what you need after a day on the slopes! The bottled beer offered was off and had strange things floating in it. Breakfast was fine and not really an issue. We felt bad for the staff of the hotel as they were very pleasant, especially Horacio in the restaurant. They did their best for us but we feel they are being let down by sun standard food being served and not having the facility to keep it hot. Really disappointing. On our final night of the holiday, a huge party of school children descended on the hotel, and completely took over the place! Running up and down corridors until I had enough and complained at midnight. The issue was handled as well as possible by the lady on reception but at no point did any of the teachers take control of these children until a complaint was made! I feel it’s completely unacceptable to allow a huge school party like that to arrive at the hotel without pre warning other guests. We should have been made aware and given the opportunity to cancel our booking, or the school should have been able to hire the entire hotel. The final night at the Encamp Hotel left us tired and fed up. Not what we needed with a 13 hour journey ahead of us. Definitely pay a little more and stay elsewhere!

Had problems with the deposit charged for key locker (ski room). I see that others had those problem too. So lost 10 EUR with strange explanation from receptionist, poor. Rooms clean, but small. Food most often good, but sometimes cold. Location good.
