The hotel is a 5-minute walk from Republic Square and the Iranian Mosque, and a 10-minute walk from Vernissage. The location is excellent, close to popular spots yet on a quiet street. The hotel is quite dated, but generally clean. I had some questions about the quality of cleaning in the bathroom (there were some stains on the faucets and tiles), but overall, it was fine for one night. The room lacked overhead lighting, which is ideal for rest, but since I arrived late, it was a bit dark to unwind.
I didn't like the breakfast; the best part was the bread. The scrambled eggs were cold, the cheese and sausage were stale, and the juices were unappetizing. It was edible, but not particularly enjoyable.
The receptionists are wonderful and very compassionate. We were allowed to leave our bags with them so we could explore without much hassle, as we had some time after check-out before our flight.

I stayed in a room on the 13th floor, most beautiful view of Mount Ararat at a distance, sprawling park in front, spacious room with all modern amenities, walkable distance from iconic Republic Square and plenty of restaurants and places of interest. Wifi was also superb.

This hotel is outdated and never did any maintenance to damage facilities. Rate is a bit expensive and not getting a single bottle of water as complimentary. Staff in the reception is rude saying that they’re the cheapest hotel nearby so complimentary water is not applicable. I don’t feel safe when I stayed here as the door is very old like easy to break and the lock is like the old days push button.

I totally don’t recommend this place. The worst and most unhelpful staff out there. They’re so rude and unprofessional and treat you with disrespect. The hotel is so old and dirty. Worst place ever don’t go there if you want to really have a nice time.

The hotel is horrible, very very very very dirty and old. I paid 80 euros/night. We had no water, the fridge was smelling like putting a dead body inside. The staff was not speaking English. I canceled the booking after 1 night because I was vomiting, I could not wash my tooth because they had only hot water in the bathroom and was smelling bad. That charged me all 3 nights.

To start with the positives; The hotel is located a 5 minute walk from Republic Square, so has a decent location; whilst there are hotels on The Square itself (i.e. The Marriott), Shirak will be a cheaper option. Other reviewers have highlighted the dated decor inside rooms as a negative; whilst it is dated, I saw the charm in it. We paid for a room which had a view of Mount Ararat; we got this and the view was great at times (this was / is weather dependent). The unfortunate negatives; Wi-Fi was hit and miss (largely miss) in our room, meaning we had to go out to the floor landing or downstairs to the main lobby to access the internet. A minor issue for us, but the TV didn’t have signal in the room, so we could not watch anything. A bigger negative was the staff; with the exception of one of the cleaning ladies with dark hair, all staff encountered were quiet at best, and at worst, had zero customer service skills, especially one lady with blonde hair who worked on the reception desk. I asked for a receipt of payment upon checking in and extra toilet paper for our room during our stay, to be told both times “ok” and neither request to be fulfilled. Upon check out, her only communication was to require me to pay for water drank from our room’s fridge, not even a thank you or good bye after that. In summary, for most travellers, a good location on offer, not much else…..

In the "economy" room everything is really destroyed. The sheet had a hole from a cigarette butt, the light bulbs were partially burnt out, the dishes in the room were dirty, and there was a layer of lime on the shower. The water from the tap smelled appropriate - it seemed that the plumbing had not been changed for half a century. Wi-Fi did not reach the room. They say that the more expensive rooms have better conditions, but there was no desire to check.
