Hotel Antea Sozopol – By The Sea in Sozopol

We stayed here for one night and I’m glad it was only for a night.
Let me start with the positive sides of this hotel
It’s pet friendly
The sea view room is a great room, you feel like your sitting on the sea
The location is great, 5 minute walk to the beach

Now for the negative side
The hotel is old, the lifts can only fit one person
The minute we opened the door to our bedroom the stink of cigarettes was awful, we aired out the room all day and as soon as we closed the door the smell was back. So clearly the walls are smelling
The bed super uncomfortable
The breakfast was awful, the coffee was horrendous, the apple juice tasted of cheap sweet chemical. The only thing I could stomach was toast and water.
The swimming pool was out of order
And now the best bit. When we went to pay the receptionist was happy to over charge us. When I said you are overcharging us she said “oh they must of gave you a 10% discount” I went on there website showed her the price of a room and no they didn’t give us any discount she was just over charging us.
It’s a bit cheeky to charge 90lev when you can’t even use the swimming pool.

Overall - The hotel is very old! The staff is not friendly and the kitchen menu is ridiculous poor. We had paid breakfast with a choice of eggs or sausages. Nothing more than a few old and tasteless fruits and coffee from the machine. Everyone having breakfast in the restaurant was talking how bad this hotel is. The price for a night in this hotel is far too high for what you get! I am so disappointed. The furnitures in the rooms are so old and the room was tiny.

Parking around the hotel is such a nightmare. We were there for 5 nights and we always had to park miles away and leave the car on our own risk on the busy streets.

The pictures on their advert is probably from the top departments that cost much more but if you are to book a double room, don’t expect to feel comfortable on your holiday.
