JI Hotel in Shanghai

This Ji Hotel might work for a quick one-night business trip, but it's definitely not suitable for a family vacation lasting three nights or longer. I was accompanying my 80-year-old parents on a family visit back to Shanghai, hoping they would have a comfortable stay. To my dismay, the room, costing over 600 yuan a night, turned out to be the worst Ji Hotel experience I've ever had!

While the staff were friendly and courteous, the service quality was subpar, and the basic facilities were frankly terrible. Firstly, when I booked, there was no mention that the 'breakfast included' option didn't mean a buffet at the hotel restaurant. Instead, it was a pre-packaged box delivered to the room, containing just an egg, milk, a corn bun, and an apple.

Secondly, we stayed for four nights. In an effort to be environmentally friendly, we didn't request fresh bed linen every day. But what truly shocked me was that over these four days, not once did the housekeeping staff make our beds!!

Thirdly, in my experience with other hotels, whenever I'd leave in the morning and return in the afternoon or evening, the room would have already been cleaned. However, this time, when we returned on the first afternoon, our room hadn't been cleaned. When I inquired with the staff, they explained that they don't disturb guests in the morning and typically clean rooms in the afternoon. On the second morning, before heading out, I specifically hung the 'Please Make Up Room' sign on the door, indicating that the room could be cleaned in the morning. Yet, when we returned in the afternoon, the room *still* hadn't been cleaned. I was forced to call housekeeping just to have them empty the trash.

On our last night, after a tiring day, we returned to the hotel looking forward to a hot shower, only to discover there was *no hot water whatsoever*!!!

I can understand that this Ji Hotel is centrally located, that the rooms are small, and that the windows face a corridor. However, the service standard here is miles apart from any other Ji Hotel I've experienced! Has the overall quality of Ji Hotels declined, or is it just this particular branch whose management and service are in dire need of improvement?

There was not place for having breakfast and the party noise coming from the street was very loud on Friday night.
Otherwise location is perfect.
