Crowne Plaza Shanghai Nanjing Road by IHG in Shanghai

I was really drawn in by the room photos on Ctrip when I booked, but the reality upon check-in was a huge letdown.

**Facilities:** The room type displayed on the platform was completely different from what I got. The decor was old and dated. According to the hotel staff, some room types have been renovated, while others are still twenty-year-old designs. However, all the room photos on Ctrip showed the newly renovated ones. My actual room had outdated facilities, a strong musty smell, and cracks in several places on the walls and wallpaper. The overall experience was really poor.

**Environment:** The soundproofing in the room was terrible. I could clearly hear doors opening and closing in the hallway, and conversations from the next room. My neighbors were very noisy that night, making sounds until very late, which severely impacted my rest. I barely slept at all.

**Hygiene and Service:** On the positive side, the bathroom condition was acceptable, and the staff's service attitude was decent.

**Suggestions:** I hope Ctrip can strictly vet hotel photos to avoid misleading customers. I also hope the hotel can standardize its room renovations, clearly differentiate between old and new room types, and improve the soundproofing to prevent more guests from having a bad experience.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff on reception. They gave me an upgrade to a mini-suite. Room very spacious and very comfortable. I would definitely return to the Crowne Plaza.
