The Peace Hotel is an absolute classic, with a constant stream of people taking photos by the entrance. Stepping into the lobby, you're immediately struck by its impressive historical grandeur. The concierge manager in the lobby was excellent, proactively helping guests take pictures and even giving tips on the best spots and angles within the hotel for amazing shots – truly adding to the experience! The room was impeccable, very spacious, and the view was fantastic. All in all, staying at the Peace Hotel truly makes you feel like you've arrived in Shanghai.

Excellent location, right by the Bund. It was Mother's Day, and I wanted to make it special for my mom. The service was fantastic! A big thank you to the lovely front desk lady who upgraded our room.

Came to Shanghai with my family specifically to experience the renowned Peace Hotel. The front desk kindly upgraded us to a connecting city-view family room. The breakfast was definitely good and we enjoyed it a lot. All the hotel services were excellent.

This nearly century-old building is a masterpiece by the British Jewish entrepreneur Victor Sassoon. Renamed the Peace Hotel in 1956, it largely retains its original charm. They offer two daily hotel history tours (free for guests, at 10 AM and 2 PM) if you want to delve deeper into its past. In the evenings, you can enjoy a performance by the famous Old Jazz Band at the Jazz Bar starting at 7 PM.

I chose the Peace Hotel for its history, prestige, location, and the vibrant Bund area. I was truly impressed by the meticulous service and attention to detail after checking in. This is what I consider a true five-star experience, far surpassing any Marriott property. From the quality of the breakfast and the training of the staff, to the turndown service, the placement of the bottled water, and the presentation of the welcome fruit, every aspect reflected top-notch service. When I went to the rooftop to enjoy the night view, I was thoughtfully provided with a blanket (it was quite chilly on the rooftop in May!). Additionally, at the Jazz Bar, they offered detailed explanations of the drinks and inquired about preferences, and during the intermission, they even reminded each table about the start time of the next set. It was a truly wonderful and memorable experience.

The location is excellent, the service is top-notch, and everything is spotlessly clean. I really love the Peace Hotel; they even provided a thoughtful welcome fruit basket. The jazz band in the bar was absolutely fantastic!

This is an old, well-established hotel in Shanghai, and the service is truly exceptional. Every staff member is warm and welcoming. The potstickers at the breakfast buffet are, in my opinion, the best and biggest in Shanghai. I'll definitely have to try the 'Indian Room' next time I have the chance!

I've always wanted to bring my loved ones to stay at the 'Far East First Hotel' – Shanghai's Peace Hotel. This holiday, I finally got to experience this timeless hotel with them.

The Peace Hotel boasts an excellent location. A short walk to the left across the road, and you're at the Bund viewing platform, just 3-5 minutes on foot. This is incredibly convenient, especially for families with elderly members and children. Right outside the hotel is Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, where you can stroll, eat, and shop at your leisure! When you're tired, you can just head straight back to the hotel to rest – that's what a true vacation is all about.

The hotel staff were all incredibly warm and attentive, making us feel right at home. During check-in, we not only received a complimentary room upgrade, but there was also a wonderful surprise. April 30th was my daughter's birthday, and I hadn't mentioned it during check-in. However, when we returned to our room after an evening out, we found a small cake from the hotel on the table. This unexpected gesture was truly touching.

When we turned on the TV, we were surprised to see a welcome message with our names on the screen, showing the hotel's thoughtful attention to detail. As for breakfast, the Chinese and Western restaurants are now combined in the Jasmine Lounge. The breakfast spread was extensive and of high quality, offering a delightful array of choices. My package only included free breakfast for two adults, not for the children. I was fully prepared to pay for my child's breakfast. However, when we entered the restaurant, the waiter only asked for our room number and then escorted our family of three to our table without asking for any additional payment for the child's breakfast. This felt very human-centered; even though my child had just passed the free age limit by a few days, the hotel's considerate and thoughtful approach made us feel very comfortable.

The room we stayed in was also very spacious, with a large bedroom, comfortable beds, and a generous bathroom. We also received complimentary fruit. The bedding was extremely comfortable, especially the mattress, ensuring a very peaceful sleep. The bathroom was spacious, featuring two washbasins. In addition to the shower, there was also an oversized bathtub 🛁. After a day of exploring, a relaxing soak in the tub washed away all the fatigue – it was incredibly comfortable.

Furthermore, our return train tickets were for around 4 PM, so a 12 PM check-out was a bit inconvenient for us. After contacting the front desk and explaining our situation, the hotel readily agreed to let us extend our check-out time to 1 PM. This was truly thoughtful and eased our worries.

If I had to suggest an area for improvement, I think it would be great if the bathroom could have a laundry hamper for used bath towels and towels.

Had a great experience, especially with the service – they were very proactive and helpful in resolving any issues. I also really enjoyed the breakfast, especially the fruit and freshly squeezed juice. You always see people taking photos there, it has a very 'Flourishing Blossom' vibe. The room was clean and tidy.

The historic Fairmont Peace Hotel, built in 1929 by the British-Jewish businessman Victor Sassoon, holds a special place in history. It's where Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Mei-ling got engaged, and where Lu Xun hosted Charlie Chaplin. Countless celebrities have graced its rooms. Previously, the Peace Hotel comprised both North and South buildings and was once known as the 'First Building in the Far East,' an iconic landmark on the Bund.

I was incredibly fortunate to stay here this time, a truly immersive and delightful experience. Step out, and you're greeted by the architectural wonders of the Bund and the observation deck offering stunning views of Pudong. Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street is right at the doorstep. The location is absolutely superb.

The hotel also houses a small museum, which feels more like an exhibition hall, with regular guided tours. A magnificent glass peace dove with outstretched wings dominates the center of the lobby. Despite its century-old history, the hotel boasts comprehensive and modern facilities. Every corner of the hotel is picturesque, perfect for photos.

All the staff were warm and polite, providing very thoughtful service. However, there was a minor lapse when the concierge staff placed my checked luggage on the floor.

The hotel's ambiance is fantastic. I requested a high-floor room overlooking Nanjing Road during check-in and was assigned a room on the 7th floor, also facing Nanjing Road, which offered excellent views. Lying in bed at night, I could admire the Nanjing Road nightscape. Perfect!

The package also included drinks and snacks at the Cathay Room on the top floor. After discussing with the hotel, we opted to exchange it for a performance at the Jazz Bar. An 80+-year-old jazz band performs there nightly, accompanied by a resident singer. We were given two complimentary drinks – one cocktail and one juice – along with chicken wings and peanuts. Listening to jazz, enjoying a drink, and munching on snacks was pure bliss.

The room perfectly blends classic and modern styles, with comprehensive amenities. The bathroom was huge, and there was a walk-in closet and a very large bathtub. The bed was super-sized, with soft and comfortable bedding. The room was spotlessly clean, and the toiletries were all high-quality. Before we returned to the room in the evening, the staff had already prepared it for bedtime.

Welcome fruits and exquisite chocolates were also thoughtfully provided in the room. They were so beautiful, I almost didn't want to eat them! The in-room coffee bar offers complimentary coffee, while the mini-bar items are chargeable.

After enjoying the jazz, returning to the room for a relaxing shower and a good night's sleep was simply wonderful. So happy!

Breakfast was served at the Jasmine Restaurant on the first floor. The East-meets-West buffet offered an incredibly rich selection, with what felt like nearly a hundred different dishes. There was so much food, I almost couldn't try everything. Upon being seated, the server brought a cup of coffee and a pot of tea. In the end, I piled my table high with food and savored each bite. I ate so much I could barely walk out – utterly satisfying!

Leaving the hotel, I felt quite reluctant to go.

Came here on a weekend early afternoon and there was no wait for a table of 4. Tea sets like most afternoon tea, nothing special. Very unimpressed with the service.

While we were eating, manager came to our table and randomly asked if we wanted still water. We gave her a very confused look and said no. She repeated the same question two more times, while we continue to give her the same confused look, before she asked us to remove the bottled water that we brought it and left it on the table. Later we requested refill for the coffee pot, but it never came. We asked once again and was told they will bring it over. After a long wait, we asked again. At this point we were was getting very impatient at this point since we waited for half hour for the refill and expressed our frustration. The waitress then finally tell us because we got the coffee a la carte, there is no free refill. Instead of nodding their head and acknowledging the request, they couldn't tell us in the first place?

Being Chinese myself, I understand the culture is to avoid confrontation and be indirect. However, the two occurances made me very uncomfortable and unwelcomed. Perhaps they should gear their services to what fits their clienteles.
