Ascott Huaihai Road Shanghai, Xintiandi in Shanghai

I'm shaking with anger in the middle of the night. I was on a 24-hour whirlwind business trip to Shanghai, and because my last stop was near Huaihai Road, I booked the Ascott Apartments on Huaihai Road. The room was so bad I felt like I was staying in some nameless motel next to a train station from the 90s. The facilities were old and poorly maintained, the tissue box was empty, and the ceramic sink was cracked… I put up with all of that because it's a prime location and the hotel has been around for years; I just wanted convenience for my trip. That night, I was prepared to tolerate the weak air conditioning, so I folded the thin duvet in half and wrapped myself in a bathrobe, intending to tough it out for one night since I had an early flight the next morning. But then I woke up in the middle of the night, freezing. I was already on the verge of a cold, and now I'm definitely sick. Instantly, I was furious 😡😡😡😡. I called the front desk to complain. They wanted to send a technician to fix the AC at 3 AM??? I called again, absolutely fuming. The duty manager, smelling of smoke, came to apologize and reassign my room. I swallowed countless swear words that were on the tip of my tongue because it was too late, and I couldn't think straight about how to unleash my anger. I feel like I'm too well-mannered, otherwise, I should have been in the lobby in my bathrobe, yelling at everyone. Tomorrow morning, this crappy hotel and I would be trending on local social media! And to top it off: this room cost nearly 1000 RMB a night!
