Review:
I stayed at Steps Hotel Batumi for two nights, and it was a terrible experience. There was no room service, the staff were rude and unprofessional, and the hotel illegally charged me 100 GEL at the reception.
Because I didn’t know the local law or language, I was forced to pay. This place is a scam, not a real 5-star hotel.
Avoid this hotel at all costs!
لطفا از این هتل استفاده نکنینید . اینها از شما اخاذی میکنند
There are 4 elevators, one is only for stuff, second one was not responding at all. Third one is used by stuff to clean up carpet at prime time(why not), and the last one, that I was waiting for 30 minutes, and the it was stopping on each floor all the way down, when it came to Ground level, and the next one P(parking since there is the button) was supposed to go to the parking, but no, apparently that one does not go there, so it went up again!
Stuff did not bother even explaining this or notifying. Also, I’ve chose hotel, because I wanted to have a meeting room, they target that they have them, but at the property they told me that they don’t have a meeting room!
Constantly problems with electricity, no light every day for an hour or so. I don’t care how good is food there or the room itself, I rate overall experience - and it’s an awful experience.
They need some proper maintenance and attention to get this hotel to have some potential.
I'm wondering what standards classify this hotel as a 5-star establishment.
Firstly, it's not located by the sea; only a few rooms have a corner view. The staff at the reception are unhelpful and lack basic communication skills, which clearly indicates they need training.
I noticed towels laying on the parking floor, and initially thought it was a mistake. However, I saw the staff repeatedly taking towels from black bags collected during room service and just tossing them on the floor!
There is also a terrible smell coming from the water channel near the hotel; it resembles a swamp, complete with the sound of frogs. On two occasions when I returned to my room, there was a fishy odor inside, reminiscent of a fish market. I called for assistance, and although a maintenance person came promptly and was very respectful, he couldn’t do anything about the issue, which seems to stem from shared AC ducts.
The worst aspect of my stay was the elevators. The building has four elevators, but two of them are exclusively for staff use and require a passkey. The remaining two are a nightmare; I often had to wait 15-20 minutes for them. The corridors have no air conditioning, and once inside the elevator, there is no fan or air recycling. As a result, it gets crowded—up to 15 people with no airflow, which is uncomfortable.
It's evident that the building is not fully functional yet. You can see this in the waiting area for the elevators, which is completely empty—no cameras, no air conditioning, and no paint; the walls are still bare concrete.
Overall, serious action is needed to address these issues!
