Reviews
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
A beautiful hotel in an exceptional location overlooking the lake — truly stunning views. The spa is excellent, offering top-quality facilities and a relaxing atmosphere. My room was quiet and very comfortable, with a great bed ensuring a restful night’s sleep. Breakfast was perfect, with a wide selection and high-quality ingredients. Only minor point: the coffee could be better. Overall, an outstanding stay elegant, peaceful, and worth every visit.
Service was great in the Restaurant Senger and the food was delicious. We had breakfast and dinner in Restaurant Senger for nearly 5 days and we liked the food.
Spa with massages is also very good.
In general excellent experience. This was our 3rd visit during Christmas times and we like it here.
Tegernsee, Germany
May-June 2025
On our second visit to Tegernsee in June of 2025, we selected Das Tegernsee because of its location and the Spa/Sauna area.
The hotel is high on a hillside above the town and has a great view of the lake. It is also close to shops and small restaurants and the fun Cloister biergarten along the lake. Although the walk is fairly steep, it is an easy walk down, but not so much easy on the way back up. We walked to town, but took an inexpensive taxi with our bags up the hill from the train station on arrival and on departure.
The hotel has multiple buildings; each has something of a different vibe. We selected the Waldburg building, partially because it is newer, with a more modern vibe, but mostly because of its immediate proximity to the spa area. We were only a few doors from the Spa. The buildings are all interconnected by passageways.
Our room faced the lake and had a sitting area and a balcony. It was modern, well-appointed, clean and comfortable. The room was very quiet even with the balcony doors open. We asked for a fan and that improved air circulation and provided some white noise. One observation is that outlets for charging devices were not particularly evident or convienent.
Our trip was wellness and spa focused and the Spa did not disappoint. Located in a separate building, the spa included a nice indoor pool with a passage to an outdoor pool with loungers. A large, well-appointed and very quiet relaxation room has loungers and access to the pool and sauna area.
The textile-free sauna and showers were clean, well maintained and not busy. We were there mid-week. The very large panoramic sauna is separate as well. It is new and has a fabulous view of the lake. We attended several Aufguss sessions that were attended by 10-12 guests. The Aufguss Master did a great job each session and provided frozen berries, ice and fresh fruit.
Outdoor showers and a large private sundeck with lounges and umbrellas are next to the Sauna with a great view of the lake.
We enjoyed the breakfast selections and restaurant selections were very good. Service was professional and unobtrusive. All of our expectations for a Spa experience, a good quiet room, cleanliness and service were met or exceeded. We will revisit this relaxing property.
