My wife and I returned a few days ago after 2 lovely weeks in the Athena. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful (bar,reception and housekeeping). I could name some but that would be unfair to others. Cleanliness and comfort were top class and breakfast choices were fantastic. Add in pool and great location near beach, shops and restaurants. We would find it impossible to fault this hotel

We have had a fantastic week at this hotel and can highly recommend staying here. The room was super nice, as was the whole hotel. The breakfast buffet was quite good with good omelettes. We travelled with our friends so we had 2 rooms. The rooms have no balconies , no views at all. There is only a wall front of the window. You can only see the wall. Nothing else. The breakfast was really not good enough. Eggs, bacon etc were very cold. In general very limited, cold and untasty breakfast. Although the breakfast was included, we went out for breakfast. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Good value for money. Room was clean and the pool area was lovely. Staff were very friendly and helped us when needed. You have to pay a small price for air conditioning in your room but it works amazingly and if you need a hair dryer or iron they have them at reception if required. Every minute of our stay was great. We were treated by an unbelievable way. Both, the main restaurant and the a la carte restaurant serve meals that are value for money with high quality. Small, silent ideal relax place. with delicious foods and high quality services. We were on the same place for 10 times during last 15 years. So I think I feel there like home. The beach is small but clean the sea is with crystal blue water.

Simple rooms but it's exactly what you pay for. The staff is very nice from house keeping to servers. My wife asked if there was gluten free bread available and the lady working breakfast said no but asked how long we were staying. The next day the lady came with a package of gluten free bread. That made my wife's day. If we ever come back to Rhodes we will be staying again.

The location - right on the beach is great but you know that before you go. The welcome (very late evening) was perfunctory rather than warm with very little information given. We also had a noisy a/c unit. I am wondering what people really want. Yes the hotel is old-fashioned and needs renovation,, in a middle of a not attractive place, and selling food items at crazy prices, but apart from that it is fine for Greek prices and standards. We spent a wonderful 11 days (in July) at this hotel. The service is good, the food as well, varied. Beautiful enviroment , pool, well-kept yard, and greenery. The rooms are clean and tidy. The organized beach is a bit farther away (especially when going with children), but the city of Rhodes is only 5–6 bus stops away (10–15 minutes) from the hotel. Super 3 star hotel with a nice bar right beside the beach. This hotel is clean and has super nice staff. 30 seconds to walk to the beach. They also have sun beds at the beach. Food in their beach side restaurant is very nice and nice prepared. The pool erea is also nice with good sun beds and a nice atmosphere.

The best hotel with best service and the best staff. They do everything they can for their guests so that they can relax and really enjoy their holiday. Elvita Bar Restaurant has a good menu for lunch and dinner. You can relax by the pool or walk 20 meters and you are on the beach with plenty of space between the sunbeds.

As many others have mentioned before me, it’s the staff here that makes the difference. They work hard, long, summer hours but somehow manage to be polite, welcoming and friendly. We stayed at Matoula Beach for a week in early October. Initially we were allocated a very small room. When we mentioned this to reception, we were transferred to a lovely spacious pool view room. The hotel had a pleasant relaxed atmosphere, and all the staff were very friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. A really comfortable stay - and highly recommended.

We had a lovely time at matoula beach...our second holiday here and was as good as the first one. I bought the All Inclusive stay at the hotel, the room I stayed in was quite bearable, but the food was very poor, the portions were tiny and the food was not always warm. I do not recommend this hotel due to the poor food and noise associated with the close airport.

The hotel staff was very nice, the restaurant staff were very helpful and kind. We felt very flattered that we chose to stay at this hotel.
