Akureyri, Hafnarstraeti 99 101, 600 Akyureyri, Severo-vostok Islandii, Islandiya 🧭 Map
Really reduced space, with just a common room to leave the luggage, and no receptionist. They didn't give me the codes to get in in advance, so I had to wait once I got there. It was also difficult to get in.
My first time at a capsule anything tbh, and I couldn't have imagined a better experience.
The couple running this establishment have created a unique atmosphere, such comfort, and a feeling of joy to get back to home away from home.
I'm now in love with the capsule concept, kudos to Japan, and this amazing Icelandic couple.
Thank you for a great stay, hope to see you in Portugal ;)
Tv remote didn’t work in room, and the power outlets in the pods barely worked as well
The pods were surprisingly comfortable. The common areas were well taken care of, and beautifully decorated. There were plenty of bathrooms - sometimes a worry at hostels. It was definitely one of the best hostels we have stayed in. It is right in the center of town, so perfect location to see Akureyri.
This is my first time staying in a Hostel. I was very impressed. Staff are helpful. The common area was big and clean.
I did not like the pool table. It creates a loud noise. It is difficult to rest after a long day of hiking or traveling. IMO
Great place for a night. Kitchen, Toilets and common places were very clean. The location is perfect. If I might say something wrong, it would be the key of the capsule did not work pretty well..it made me a bit nervous:)

its big. the nights we were there the kitchen area turned into a lot of fun. A bunch of people trying to cook in, and have a few drinks to save money turned into a big group out on the town.
Probably the cheapest accommodation in whole Iceland and the equipment is accordingly. The rooms consisted of concrete floor, 4 walls, one jacket rack and beds. No table, no chair and nothing else. This is fine though, since you get what you pay for.
The comon area is spacious and the kitchen has everything that you need for simple meals. Also the location is decent and only a 15 minute walk from the...
Took this photo in the lobby on my vacation a few months ago. Tried to figure it out who it was. Took me a minute but that's Eddie Sparks. The guy who found anonymous in the US. He's super famous in tech. Hotel was nice with the bar and outside area with roof access too.

Great location! Room was comfortable enough.
Shared female restroom need some throughout cleaning as the mildew is all over the showers. It is very hard to get a good night of sleep with people in and out slamming the main door. The shared kitchen is a good idea but could use some cleaning. Also when I booked it said that luggage store was provided free but apparently to be safe you have to get paid...
The staff are super friendly and helpful. Though a bit out of town, it is close to the bus terminal for airbus. Taking a bue to city centre is also easy and convenient. Student canteen and bar provide good food at lower price. Good value for money.
Great place, it needs some improvements
The place was amazing and the staff was very friendly. I wish the rooms would come with body wash and shampoo, or at least offer the option to buy a small bottle of body wash and shampoo at a reasonable price. I had to buy a big bottle from the store that I ended up using it twice and then throwing an almost full bottle into the garbage because I can't fly back...
Beds were comfy, kitchen and hallways were very nice. Our room was assigned wrong originally but they were very helpful and upgraded us to a private bathroom. The shower flooded the bathroom with no mat and we only had 1 towel each, so we weren't able to dry the floor, but other than that we would definitely stay again.
Nice find.
Really nice student hostel within walking distance of central Reykjavik. Clean, warm, comfortable.
One niggle - I could have benefitted from two pillows but this is a small thing and didn’t detract from the overall experience. I’d definitely stay here again.
One piece of advice. It’s not obvious from the map where the hostel is. I walked right past it and saw other people do the same...
Good stay!
Room was a great location for touring the downtown cheaply. Included free parking just a short walk away. Would definitely recommend if in the area. Only issue we had was the shower drain didn't work well.

Akureyri, Stórholt 1 🧭 Map
Decent apartment but certainly not luxury. No soap for shower and no soap holder or any place to put the soap once we bought it from a store. Very noisy location. The worst part is that we were on the 4th floor and no one told us there is no elevator. We are senior citizens and it was difficult to lug large suitcases to our room.
The location is in a major city, so there's supermarkets nearby.
The rooms are large.
The kitchen is fully equipped and the common area is has bigger space than you will need.
Very cozy!
The interior of our room was really nice. They have a very spacious kitchen and the dining room area. Very well equipped. The toilets and the showers are clean. Overall, would recommend! Especially if you want to spend some time in the city. The location is perfect.
One of my favorite places I slept while in Iceland. It was in a good location and the rooms were nice and comfy. The bathrooms were cute and had heated floors! The kitchen was big and the dining area had plenty of space for everyone. They also had coffee and tea (many fun flavor options) for guests to use. Good location, my group was able to walk around Akureyri easily from here
Nice property, very roomy. The restaurants nearby were very good.
Very convenient. No response from staff. Loved staying there though. Very nice place. Spacious, clean, modern. In the middle of a great area.

The property keeper was a very nice guy, he was personable and welcoming. Thank you
The Hostel was very clean and comfortable, I would definitely stay again
Situated in a quiet neighborhood, this guesthouse has ample parking and a very nice cafe with a full lunch and dinner menu, bar and fresh made bakery items as well. The shower/sink /toilet areas were clean, bedding was very comfortable. The building, public lounges and rooms all felt safe. There are plenty of lockers to lock up extra belongings and a few outdoor spaces to enjoy some fresh air and conversation...
Super close to downtown Reykjavík
very nice and quiet just outside the downtown. bit of a walk to the busy downtown area of Reykjavik, but if you don't mind that then its worth saving for a less crowded and easy going area. Plus side it was closer to larger stores you may want supplies from (big grocery/costco/etc) and it was easier to hit the road to drive out to tour different sites. Parking was free if you can find it, but there...
Unfortunately, a bit unfriendly in the restaurant, but the food was great.

Great hotel, fabulous restaurant.
Loved this little hotel. Warm and comfortable and the restaurant was delicious!! Gorgeous dining room and food was next level. One of the best meals we had in Iceland. Staff were lovely! Helpful, friendly, just a great spot all round.
Our favorite
This hotel was our favorite. The location was beautiful and the property was charming. Our room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and staff super friendly. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area!
Great historic hotel!
Loved this place! Great character and thoughtful decor made it special. Excellent location and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Immaculate throughout. Highly recommend!

Staying in Dupivorgu is mainly a last resort choice for the itinerary. There is no hotel available in Hofn that day. All the rooms in this hotel are in a large wooden house, with ant nest rooms on both sides of the narrow corridor. The room was very small, and the bathroom was closed with a simple curtain. Location's fine for a hostel!
Nice vibes in the common room.
This part of Iceland is mercyless cold in winter! 🥶
Good thing I shared the hostel with only two others this night. Could afford a second blanket. ✨️
Kitchen was well equipped for a hostel.

Great place to stay also with the camper. We arrived here in winter and were amazed by how well and cozy the hostel is equipped also for people with the camper. We enjoyed one warm evening in the common room and cooked in the very well equipped kitchen. The Art all over the place is just great. The bathroom was clean and tidy!
Very cool and eclectic place! We stayed the night in our camper van, but the indoor space was super cozy and nice to hang out in! Kitchen was well stocked woth anything you would need. Free wifi. And 1 cup of free coffee in the morning! They have showers included but I didn't use them.
This is a great hostel to visit if you are on an Iceland road trip. It’s surrounded by quiet, beautiful landscapes, and the vibe within the hostel is so chill. When we were there, the locals held a concert with live music and singing, and it felt like we were part of the community. The interior also has a very cool design.
Such a nice place, and very cheap. We had a functional but large 8 people dorm for my family of 8, the common areas are so beautiful that you just want to stay and hang out. Washing machines available.

This place is new, clean. But it is better to provide free towel for customer
It was very easy to check in, I arrived really late and I loved the self check-in!
Ok, in every sense, value for money.
The only thing to complain about is the size of the common area, specifically the kitchen is very small for the capacity of the accommodation.
This was such a cute little hostel! The kitchen was very cosy and had everything that someone might need. There were lots of washrooms so never had to wait. The rooms were really cozy and everything was very clean. Will be coming back here on our next trip!

Nice place with comun areas and complete kitchen for cooking whatever you need, in a charming town.
It was an unmanned hotel; when I arrived around 7 PM, no one answered the door (there was no notice on the door). Other guests told me I had to go to "Hotel Framtid" on the street to get the key. The room was fairly comfortable, and the living room and kitchen doors were large.
The hostel is well-equipped, with spacious and adequate rooms. The kitchen is very complete, and the common areas are pleasant. Parking is free and easily accessible.
The bathroom could be improved; the entire floor was wet. The fire alarm went off almost at midnight, which wasn't very pleasant.
Check-in was convenient.
Noisy when we have to share the kitchen and dining room with an italian group.
Clean with lots of space in rooms and common areas. Kitchen had multiple stoves, ovens, sinks, ketles, etc. for all. Sitting area was jice and had a foosball table, which was nice. Oveall great place for our family.
Would stay again if we come back to iceland. Big kitchen, Big lounge area, large rooms. Comfertable big beds and a nice small town feeling

Hi Eco Hostel has a great atmosphere for all ages, we found it a lovely place to meet people and enjoyed the cafe bar and kitchen areas. Our superior double room was very comfortable on our first stay, but the double room was less comfortable and it was really noisy on Friday night, so we wouldnt choose it again on a weekend. But on other nights, it is an ideal place to meet people.
Wow! I really loved this location and the community was great! I have stayed at multiple hostels in my travels so I am familiar with shared spaces. I stayed in the 8 room female dorm with a shared bathroom. They provide ear plugs and all the guests I encountered were courteous. The price was phenomenal for all of the amenities. I used the kitchen daily and loved all of the community space to hang out...
Beautiful and friendly hostel. Rooms are cleaned daily. Very friendly staff. The owner is lovely and has a beautiful dog. The bar area is a plus, full of sofas, chairs, and all kinds of games. Last but not least, a magnificent terrace overlooking the main street downtown. The kitchen is open 24/7. Super central location.
Alicia as very productive and she helped us in a very professional manner she was amazing at her work,We was with our friends and could see that she was very talented and make our time So special! Thank you Alicia !
The location is excellent, with easy access to food options and shops. I stayed in an 8-bed female dorm, and the room was very spacious with its own private bathroom and a hairdryer provided. However, the storage space is insufficient, and there is no bedside reading light for each bed, which would have improved comfort.
The common area is large and very impressive, offering plenty of space to relax...

I have booked this pod for my trip in Reykjavik in 2019.
I am really sad that it is temporarily closed because it is an awesome place to stay: from the unique pod feature (which is super safe and cool - and trust me you won't feel claustrophobic), great location, awesome staff, all the way to a cool wall feature with all the guests' signature on it. I've made friends and nice memories and I hope it...
The idea of the pods is amazing, they give you almost the privacy of a private bedroom (except noise-wise), but at the price of a dorm bed.
Staff was kind. Price was great. I appreciate they sell some snacks, so you don't have to go out if you are just a bit hungry and have no food. Ok location. The reception has nice couches and a great view.
Not enough space for baggage in the room. The kitchen is too small. Half of the showers don't work.
But location is excellent.
We tried it because the pods looked fun and a bit more private than a typical hostel. There were more than enough toilets for the amount of guests, and they seemed to be very clean. The pods did not seem to lock at all but would still recommend for the experience.
Great location, quirky concept, but has gone downhill a bit since I last visited 4 years ago. Not just as fresh and more of a hostel feel than it used to have. Maybe just because it was peak season, but the pods don't lock anymore, the TVs weren't working properly, they don't offer headphones so I could never use the TV as I had wireless headphones. It was fine, but not as amazing as I remembered.
We stayed here overnight and enjoyed our time here. It was very clean and quiet, even in the day. The walls are cool with everyone’s signatures. There is a kitchen to cook/store your food or leave it for someone else. The common area has a great vibe. Free wi-fi. There are small lockers for carry-on sized bags, but checked bags sit unlocked in the room. Our stuff was safe and nobody messed with it...

Not alot of parking space, not handicap friendly, TV didn't work. It was a small room with 1 pillow on each bed.... however, it was warm and not overly pricey and had a chocolateon the bed. Breakfast was ok.
Rooms were the smallest we experienced during our trip, not very good value compared to other places we stayed. Fine for one night but the water pressure was dripping, and you can hear people outside and in other rooms, there was barely anywhere to hang or put your luggage, and there was one power outlet for 3 people. Breakfast was nice, waffle maker, yoghurt and cold bits.
Good little place for a layover, the room was clean and comfortable and there is tea and coffee provided. Breakfast was ok but didn’t include hot food, but was good for the price.
The location is great, right by a pub and some restaurants.
The only issue was the noise, specifically the doors that shut with a loud bang and rattle, so any time someone goes in or out you can hear.
Based off the following: price of the hotel, cleanliness of the room/hotel spaces, and location, I give the Puffin Hotel five stars.
Located in walkable distance of Black Sand Beach and the local brewery. Hotel room was clean and presented as advertised. The bed was comfortable.
The breakfast was included and had a good variety including: meat and cheeses, waffle maker, Skyr yogurt, some cereal,...
So the location is great. We were close to Trek our excursion company and close to some really good restaurants. The rooms were very dated and small, but the thing that was the most annoying is that they didn't have any shampoo/body wash. Which when people are traveling around they can't bring giant bottles of shampoo with them and for the price of over $250.00 for the night! I think I should have...
The location of the hotel is perfect. You have the famous Black Diamond Beach just a walk away, a petrol station, restaurants and the most beautiful view to wake up to. This hotel is excellent! Even though it has shared bathrooms, they are very convenient and clean. The kitchen is fully equipped, allowing us to make breakfast and simple stir-fries for lunch. We plan to stay here again after returning our rental car.
Best location in the central area, walking distance to most attractions in Reykjavik, and easy access to buses going to Keflavik airport. Highly recommend! (Do bring shower shoes for the shared showers tho. The bathrooms get a little icky after a lot of use).
This hostel ranks among the worst I've experienced in Europe.
The 4th floor is supposed to have hairdryers. On my first day, I asked the front desk and they said one should be there but it had 'disappeared'. They had spares, but never restocked them, so I had to go down and borrow one every time. Once, they even lent me two broken ones in a row.
In the restrooms, I'd find one out of three stalls...
This place is amazing, book here if you're going to Reykjavik. When we arrived I accidentally booked a day late but the receptionist immediately helped me fix it and even though we were like 4 hours early for check in they let us into our room! We booked a double room but got a free-of-charge upgrade. Both rooms had TVs and they were great. This hostel is right in the city centre and it's on the seafront...
On my very first day, I bought a pizza without realizing there wasn’t actually an oven 😅
Instead of letting me feel awkward or disappointed, the person at reception immediately noticed and kindly showed me an alternative way to sort it out. That small, thoughtful moment really stood out.
Great atmosphere, great people, and unforgettable energy. You meet so many like-minded solo travellers and somehow...
A very... unique experience, my first time staying in a youth hostel. There were 2 guys and 2 girls, each from a different country. I wouldn't recommend bringing large suitcases, as there's not much space to open them in the room and the aisles are quite narrow. It's a good idea to bring disposable bedding (sheets, duvet cover, pillowcase) and a lock for the locker.
It was better than we expected, friendly staff, clean amenities, spacious room, kitchen was provided as well, knowing everything is so expensive in Iceland, we can’t avoid to prepare our own food while getting ingredients from supermarket nearby. We’vecaught our first northern light in our life at the hostel nearby as well! Everything seems so perfect!

The service was excellent, the rooms were clean, the breakfast was good, and parking was convenient.
The place was very clean, and it was easy to check-in.
The kitchen was big and well furnished, but got a bit disappointed seeing there wasn’t cooking oil, salt or pepper.
The bunk beds were comfortable enough, but the lack of privacy curtains was a bit off putting. I got to sleep in my room alone, so it’s not too bad, but I wouldn’t like having strangers come and go and just see me sleep.
Finally...
Great kitchen area for hostel. Well stocked and lots of space to cook and eat.
Loved the dining room! But not the flies ;)
The room with two bunk-beds was very small for four people. It was hot, stuffy and poorly soundproofed.

Great little place to stay - felt at home and had everything we needed. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights here - a dream come true for me! Friendly folks as well :) totally recommend
We were 4 friends and shared a family room. The room was enough for us and was also clean. The shared kitchen and bathrooms were used by all guests and although there were so many people, it was always clean. People show consideration for each other here. We liked the sauna. Only the rooms were a bit noisy, so you could often hear snoring from the other rooms.
I love Hafaldan hostel. Stayed here for the third time and was not disappointed. The place is so warm and inviting, and the complementary sauna in the basement (which has been added since I was last there) is amazing. Highly recommend.
The Hostel is a very nice, charming place. It has a great, well equipped kitchen and a nice dining room. The rooms are very clean, but a little alert. Thomas and the nice young woman are very kind and helpful. The guests are international and open minded. I am happy we habe been there.
This is a very special hostel with a warm family vibe. It's just walking distance away from the rainbow walk and makes a good stop for the ring road trip.

We had the pleasure to stay in the old house which is from 1906 and has been used as a hostel for over 50 years now. The house is kept in it's old condition with some necessary modernizations. I stayed here during a week-long conference in Hafnarfjörður and absolutely loved it. The place was comfortable and the hostess is the sweetest!! I also recommend visiting the nearby public swimming pool Suðurbæjarlaug, which is just a 10min walk away.
This hostel experience was so comfortable that u barely notice u are in a hostel. The kitchen is very well equiped and spacious. Rooms are tidy with ventilators and curtains that block the midnight sun. The receptionist Wael was super friendly and helpful. The bus station from which access the bus to the city is in a walking distance.
Overall, it is a good and budget-friendly stay (3.5/5). The location is excellent — close to the airport with many restaurants nearby, which is very convenient.
The hostel has shared bathrooms and a shared kitchen!
The only downside was that the room was too hot, and unfortunately, we couldn’t switch to another one. However, the owner kindly provided an extra fan, which helped a bit!
