Hotel Piccolo in Parghelia

Quiet, very clean place, friendly and helpful staff, and top-notch cuisine. Shuttle service to the beach, 600 meters away, with assigned space, umbrella, chair, and lounger. Recommended. Michelino Beach, a charming spot with a fabulous sea, is just 900 meters away.

Amazing hotel with excellent breakfast which you can eat in beautiful terrace. There you can also see Tropea, Stromboli and beautiful sunset. We loved this place. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Hope to see you again soon.

A lovely little hotel with fantastic staff. All were super friendly & efficient,from the people who worked on reception, those who worked in the bar/ restaurant at breakfast and the cleaners. Thanks too to the guy who drove the complimentary mini bus into Tropea. He saw I struggled with the step and as if by magic produced a little foot stool to help me. It was our Ruby Wedding while we were there. My son in Vancouver emailed the hotel and they arranged for a bottle of fizz to be put in our room. We ate at the hotel next door. All the food was of a good standard but I had to remind myself not to eat too much of the pasta course or I was too full to eat anything else. We had a lovely holiday. Tropea is beautiful. The hotel is spotless and not too big . I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who wanted a quiet, family run hotel with friendly, engaging staff.

Let me start with Hotel Piccolo’s good points. The food, which as we all know is a very important part of a holiday was very good. The fish and pasta were the best I have eaten in any Italian hotel that I have stayed. Portions were on the small side for main course and sweet, twice in the week we were served melon as a sweet. Different varieties of melon but still melon !! Pasta courses were of a good size. We liked our room which was on the second floor and had a partial sea view. The air conditioning was efficient. The hotel provides free transport to the beach and to the lovely nearby town of Tropea which we used and was very handy. Tropea comes alive in the evening and is well worth a visit after your evening meal. Now the bad. Twice during the week we were prevented from sitting at an empty table on the left of the breakfast terrace, and shown to an inferior table and then shortly after on both occasions a German couple sat down. I should say the table had no reserved signage. My husband and myself found this insulting, it left a sour taste in the mouth. Some guests were certainly treated with more reverence. Service was ok, apart from the man who mostly did breakfast and drove the transport during the day. It was he who asked us to move twice during breakfast. I will finish with a warning, if you like to swim in the sea this isn’t the place for you, beach is stony with not a good entrance into the water. Sea was rough when we visited with red flag flying most of the week. Would not visit this area again as we felt it was lacking in things to do. Calabrian wine was excellent, we wish it was widely available here in the UK.

This small hotel was so nice, clean and the service was great. Hotel room was good size and the roofteracce was a great place to take sun and eat breakfast. Every day there was transfer to the beach and Tropea Old town, severall times a day.

We had the most wonderful stay att Hotel Residence Piccolo! Everything was top notch. Excellent, super friendly and very service minded staff that made everything possible to make our stay the best. Spacious room cleaned spotless everyday, beautiful surroundings, an amazing terrace where a generous and tasty breakfast was served and delicious food in the restaurant. A shuttle bus takes you to the beach and to Tropea - so easy and convenient. We will be back!

lovely family run hotel! spotlessly clean. rooms were cleaned really well every day. stunning views from the roof terrace to Tropea and the sea. no hidden costs, almost everything was included in the price. sun loungers on the beach, dinner, beach towels, bus transfers to Tropea and the beach, breakfast, shower room on the day of departure. all free. ALL the staff were AMAZING, KIND and ALWAYS HELPFUL. We miss this hotel and its staff already. we hope to be back someday. highly recommend!

Amazing holiday at this small and friendly hotel. All staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble to ensure our holiday was unforgettable. Alexandro helped me arrange train trips to Pizzo and Scilla. The shuttle bus driver was brilliant and our cocktail bar man on the terrace I wanted to bring home with me. Missing Calabria already - it’s been less than 12hrs. Xx

Just stayed 2 weeks at this lovely hotel where the staff really can't do enough for you. Very clean rooms attended to daily. Air con very good as was WIFI. TV only Sky news in English but we hardly had the TV on. Beds very comfortable and plenty of storage space. Large balcony with awning for shade and table and chairs. Tea and coffee provided but no milk so bought our own long life milk from shop in village. Shower in the bathroom was small but adequate. Breakfast on the roof terrace was a lovely setting. The cold selection and breads were excellent but hot options were lacking - most days scrambled egg, streaky bacon and not the best sausages. You order dinner at the breakfast table and have a selection of 3 starters and 3 mains with dessert being set. The options are always meat, fish or vegetable. The starters when they involve pasta are like a main meal. They do local quality Calabrian food cooked to perfection. They start service at 7.00pm but the food isn't served until at least 7.30 so they can serve drinks first meaning most people don't come to the table until about 7.20.Service is excellent. I had a few dishes new to me including red scorpion fish one night as usual cooked to perfection! The meals come with a choice of side dishes that you also order at breakfast. Special mention to the driver of the shuttle bus who drove us to the beach and Tropea on a number of occasions, to the young lady on reception who spoke very good English and was very helpful and Michael I think he was called who served us well in the evening with drinks on the roof terrace. Parghelia itself is like a ghost town during the day but the locals do come out at night especially if you pass the American bar and go to the other end of the main street where there are more bars.. The train station is also at the far end. Beware when you buy your train ticket you then have to validate it in the machine next to the ticket machine.

Thank you to all the staff at this fabulous family run hotel for a perfect holiday. Spotlessly clean, comfortable and welcoming place. A lovely solarium, sun terrace to enjoy breakfast looking at a beautiful view. Sunsets to die for. Evening meals taken next door, very good food and always something to choose. Shuttle bus really useful to town and beach. Would 100% recommend and hopefully we’ll return sooner rather than later. Ciao beautiful Calabria x
