Relais Della Porta in Naples

Relais Della Porta was an ideal base for a few days in Naples. The location between the Spanish Quarter and Historic Center was a great area to explore, with easy access to the Toledo metro station. The building itself was a memorable part of the experience, with incredible history and architecture (including restored fresco ceilings and an entrance through a hidden door in the gate). The staff were very helpful and offered lots of tips on the area. They provided a generous free upgrade to a beautiful, spacious room. Breakfast included a vast, delicious selection of local baked goods.

We stayed at Relais Della Porta twice in September 2025 (3 nights at the beginning of our trip and 2 more nights after Sorrento–Amalfi–Ravello). Location: Perfect! Right on Via Toledo in the heart of Naples. Walking distance to all the important piazzas, statues, restaurants, famous pizzerias, metro stations, and Beverello Port for ferries to Capri and Sorrento. Couldn’t be better. Hotel Setup: The property has two parts. • Via Toledo 368 (3rd floor): Historic palace with frescos, main reception, and older rooms. • Via Toledo 373 (2nd floor): Modern, very clean, spacious rooms (ours even had a jacuzzi). The lift works but there are about 10 steps down to the entrance from the 2nd floor. Both buildings look like traditional Italian apartments from the outside, not like a hotel. Rooms & Breakfast: Rooms in 373 were spotless and modern. Interior rooms are quieter—rooms facing Via Toledo can be noisy. Breakfast is served in both 368 and 373, but the 368 breakfast is richer and served in a more elegant room. Guests from 373 can also eat there. Service: Special thanks to Mr. Mohamad at reception in the evenings—he was amazing. Extremely helpful with restaurants, transportation, and any requests we had. He made our stay even better. Summary: • Fantastic location • Clean, modern, spacious rooms • Very good breakfast • Warm, helpful service • Entrance and lifts are more like residential Italian buildings than hotel style, but this is part of the charm

Our initial thoughts on the entrance of the hotel were reserved, little tiny door and very old lift. We were skeptical as to how the hotel itself would be. However we were greeted warmly by Esther and her colleagues, they took the time to share the history of the building with us and made us feel very welcome. Our room was beautifully spacious and had charming character. We only stayed for one night. We wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is centrally located and easily accessible from metro. Next time we will return when in Naples. Thank you for making our stay special

This hotel was a gem in the middle of a chaotic city like Naples. It was in the perfect location, served great breakfast, and the staff was amazing. Alessandro created a wonderful itinerary for the day that I used. I would stay here again.

Difficult to find from the street, but a beautiful historic hotel. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Rooms were spacious and amazing. We wish we had been able to stay longer.

We had a wonderful 3 days here. I love the big hotels but I also love the boutique ones and this had bags of character. The little hobbits front door at the entrance is something we will never forget! The room was very spacious, the bed was great, the air conditioning works like a dream (it was 33 outside) and everything was clean. Its very well positioned to get anywhere in Naples quickly. The breakfast was good but the best thing was the staff. They were lovely - from the receptionist (owner?) Who stayed up to let us in at 1am because our flight was delayed to the cleaners. Its a great little hotel, quirky for sure. I would recommend staying here for sure.

Beautiful historical hotel with the ceilings from the 16th century, plus it serves a very good breakfast and is situated right in the centre of Naples with only 5 min walk from the Spanish quarter and all the typical Italian restaurants and trattorias and only four subway stops from Piazza Garibaldi, the main train station. The nearest metro station Toledo is only 1-2 min away by walk. The hotel is situated on the third floor and you can choose to either take the stairs or take a lift but you would need 10 cent for each ride. The rooms are clean and spacious and the receptionist and the hotel staff is always willing to help.

Loved this hotel! All the staff were friendly, room was comfortable with a balcony and a jacuzzi. Breakfast was delicious! A great experience.

This was the best hotel on our Italy trip. Amazing attention to detail, beautiful room, total service orientation - and simply a stunning city palace in a historic building. Location is superb - in the old town and next to a metro station with a non-stop line to the central train station. Oh - and the breakfast was actually outstanding. We really loved it.
