Dimora Al 36 in Rome

I never leave reviews, but this experience was terrible. First off, we had to call to enter the building and were left waiting outside after day long journey (also an unreasonable expectation to have someone with a foreign number call long distance to enter). When we were being shown around we were told "this is not your room" and we thought he meant the pull-out couch that was set up. Flash forward to the next day we're rushing back to our hotel room and the door is answered by a family staying in our room. Turns out they had moved all our stuff. Aparently they tried calling (we did not recieve any calls) and messaging (I recieved an email close to 10am, well after we had left the room for the day, on an email that could only be checked when connected to wi-fi). After we had called the manager came with our new keys and instantly started blaming us for not receiving the calls or checking emails. Any communication the previous night would have been fine and saved us this headache. When you book a room for two nights, be wary you may be booking two rooms. (The window was also left open so I am currently sitting in a room full of bugs). Totally ruined the day. We stayed here because it had great reviews, but the snarky comebacks on the one star reviews definitely make more sense now. I reccomend staying at the freedom travelers hostel a few blocks away. I had a great experience with them when I was in Rome in 2022 and they've also since renovated.

Edit: lots of lies for sure. We notified we would arrive between 2-3pm. We arrived at 2:10. I have submitted a screenshot of all the communication we received today. Funny that you can reply to a negative review in a couple hours but not give your guests adequate CLEAR notice for a room change. We wish you a more communicative business!

I didn't even need to stay at the hotel for the experience to be horrible. I booked a room for the summer through booking, they confirmed it and charged me the money, in fact, they charged me €72 more right away, an hour later they sent me a message through booking that the card was incorrect and to keep the reservation I had to change it, I didn't want to do it because they already charged me and they could charge me again, so I called the hotel and their response was “I'll look at it and call you” (the man speaking in Italian and I in Spanish), hours later they called me and I call again to be told the same thing, I call again and they tell me to talk to my bank that they have not received the money. The next day I called my bank and they told me that the money has been sent but that they have to confirm it, if not or they did, it would be automatically returned to me in 7 days. After all this, my reservation is canceled because I did not change the information, so I call. My bank to verify that they have not collected the money and confirm that they have, which means that they collected my money and canceled my reservation, in short, a scam. I proceeded to cancel my card and talk to booking to tell them about the situation. The next day the hotel called me and told me verbally that the reservation was confirmed that the manager forgot to press the button, the fact is that the man from the hotel spoke to me on WhatsApp to confirm, again verbally the hotel, I asked up to 4 times to confirm it through the application, but it passed me by, so I continued with the process with booking, who took the decision and returned the money to me from the hotel who did not even respond to them, very good management by booking. Finally I still have no news from the hotel and although booking has refunded my money, the hotel kept mine, in short, a horrible experience.

Very rude behaviour from the guy who owns the place..no welcome or greetings ..i understand there was a delay to arrive at the place and it was due to a long train journey from venice but the owner was rude on us for coming late and claimed that he contacted me twice to know the check in time which was a false claim.. i never received any messages from the owner on the check in time and i am not sure is it the fault of the owner or agoda..overall the place is really good and tidy but the owners rude attitude disappointed the whole vibe of the place..will not come back again for sure
