Gialel Guesthouse in Rome

Absolutely disgusting. This is far from a B&B it more like a halfway house/slum. Sent photos to the WhatsApp number with the imagines and got a response of 'hi?' We were waiting for TUI to sort our issue but the manager ignored all communication from them. We left after one night and payed to stay elsewhere. Literally the worst place I have ever stayed. This was the bathroom we were faced with upon arrival. I managed to hunt down some antibacterial spray and cleaned the toilet just so I could use it 🤢

We are a well travelled family and have stayed in some odd places and we are not picky by any means.

The location is superb with nothing being more than 30 mins at most, the metro (Repubblica) is approx. 10min away and has super links to most of the city.

Easily get to all the main attractions (such as Collossem in 15 to 20 mins ia the above metro

But then there is the room.... the biggest thing that we had an issue with is the bathroom the shower only delivered COLD water the same with the sink.

The fridge just needs throwing in the skip, due to the black mold that was growing inside it.

We had the fourth floor room and I can honestly say it felt like you had to climb to the Spanish steps every time you returned to the room, for those with poor mobility I would advise checking which floor you are booking.

Communication was fantastic all the codes needed to gain entry to the apartment block where supplied early which was great.. if you are arriving late at night or early morning please book in first with the vendor so that yiu have access to the codes and room.

Roma is a beautiful city with some amazing sights.. I hope you enjoy your visit...

We arrived in Rome in the mid-night and they literally told us we don't care about how you spend the night and come back tomorrow so we can check you in. Although I later realized that a self check-in was possible. As a result we had to book another hotel and pay extra for one night.

They didn't provide breakfast although it says on their website that breakfast is included. When we asked whether breakfast is included, the woman replied very rudely that this is a guesthouse and not a B&B. When we had asked for self check-in on the night of our arrival, we were told that they are a B&B, not a hotel.

30 minutes after getting into the room, we were locked inside as the lock on the door started to malfunction.

The doors are locked with keycodes, which anyone knows as soon as they are there. So, anyone can literally open your room's door while you are out.

They claim on their website that the building is handicap friendly, attached you can see a photo of the stairs. There's an elevator which is operated using a key. You need to go to the 2nd floor to get the key (during your check-in). Besides, people on a wheelchair can't fit into the elevator since the door is too small.

The furniture in the rooms may break apart anytime, and it's written that anything broken will be charged to the guests lol.

The only good thing is the location. The next good thing is their room service which they clean the rooms daily.
Other than these two points, I can't say any other positive points.

The hotel was near the city, making it easy to get to places in the city, so the location was good. However, getting in and out of the rooms was a hassle. The lock combinations were confusing and took us 30 minutes to figure out each time. The walls are very thin and the bathroom was separate to our room. There was a key for the bathroom as well which was also very confusing. The quality wasn’t the best, but okay to live with.
