Hotel Caparena in Taormina

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The staff were rude and were not confident in English, making every interaction frustrating. The pool had mould, and so did the rooms, which also reeked of damp. Rust was everywhere, from fixtures to balcony railings, and litter covered the grounds. The food was awful—bland, poorly prepared, and barely edible. What shocked me most was when I started taking pictures of the mould and rust for documentation. A staff member saw me and became aggressive, eventually threatening to call the police if I didn’t stop. I was stunned—rather than fixing the issues, they tried to intimidate me for exposing them. To make matters worse, there was a moment when a half-naked woman was walking around the lobby. When I approached reception about it, they casually claimed they had “tried” to deal with it—but all I saw was them standing around and watching, making no real effort to resolve the issue. This place is a complete disaster—unsanitary, unsafe, and totally unprofessional. Avoid at all costs.
