Ape Rosa Relais in Florence

We were so excited for our stay at Ape Rosa, as my mother is from Florence and used to live nearby. The place definitely has classic Italian charm and is in a fantastic setting. However, we discovered so many issues that we had to check out after only one night. The bathroom had dozens of ants, both dead and alive, primarily in the shower so we couldn’t use the shower unless we wanted to step all over ants. We were also concerned about keeping any food in the room or in our bags because of the ants. Above the shower were 6” long cobwebs full of dead insects. The floors were filthy and had very clearly not been cleaned properly. The wardrobe doors were so worn out that they were nearly impossible to open or close. There were no drawers in the room save for 4 small ones in the nightstands, 3 of which had no knobs rendering them entirely useless and leaving us with one drawer that was an inch and a half deep. We specifically booked a room with two beds and were very frustrated to discover at 10pm that one bed had no sheets at all. The coverlet of the other bed had visible stains across it. The mattress on the only bed with sheets was sloped to each side, so you’d slide to the edges during the night. Staff were unconcerned about the issues which clearly speak to persistent subpar cleanliness and maintenance. To top it off, they refused to provide any sort of refund. Take your money elsewhere.

It was a bad experience for me, when I came I said - "Hi, How are You Doing..." She made a grimace and started moving her head, showing that she did not understand me, I told her 4 times - "Hi, How are You Doing..." She said that I don't speak English correctly and I have to speak - "Hi, How are You"

I have a question, WHO ARE YOU??? to teach me how shoud I talk???

After that, she told me that she studied English at the university and my English is not correct....

ARE YOU SERIOUS???

I have another question, WHO ARE YOU??? WHO ARE YOU TO TEACH ME THE LANGUAGE I SPEAK EVERY DAY???

I have never seen such rudeness in my life, after I told her that I have American English and maybe she studied British English, she fell silent and began to speak Italian with my friends, I honestly don’t understand what’s in her head ? WHAT WAS IT???

I will be coming to the same hotel in March 2023 and I want to see what will change, NOW I am leaving 1 star, reasons:

1. The extraordinary rudeness of the staff.
2. NOT adapted garden for relaxation, no cushions for iron chairs, this garden is like a fake, it is not used.
3. Room for three is small
4. The extra bed in the triple room is not comfortable with a bad mattress.
5. The air conditioning in the room for three does not work, at check-in it showed 27 degrees, from 18:00 to 11 in the morning it cooled the small room by 0 degrees, when leaving it was also 27 degrees, while we set the cooling to 16 degrees, this is NOT ACCEPTABLE AT OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE 34 degrees!!!
6. UNACCEPTABLE MOLD on the shower head - it was a total shock... (check the photo!!!)
7. The overall impression was 0 stars out of 5

I will not leave this hotel after this visit, I will definitely return and will check what has changed and leave new reviews, I was outraged that this hotel has such a high rating and at the same time it has such improvements, this is not right ...
