Beyond Hotel Takayama 1St in Takayama

Excellent apartment in the heart of Takayama. It is an easy 5 minute walk with luggage from the train station. Quick and easy to reserve with excellent communication throughout the booking process. Unit was easy to find and well marked. Key Box and codes were given in advance and correct. The unit had 2 bedrooms. The front bedroom has 3 beds and its own air conditioner. The second bedroom off the kitchen has 3 beds and its own air conditioner. Plenty of electrical outlets for everyone. The kitchen has a small stove top and refrigerator. We didn’t eat in any but had it had the dishes if decided to. Has a bidet toilet and nice shower room. Washer and dryer in the bathroom. It had extra toothbrushes, laundry detergent, bath soap, shampoo, conditioner and plenty of towels. Common room has its own air conditioning unit with views of the street. The is a great place to stay and close to everything with all the necessary amenities for an extended stay.

Very friendly and helpful staff! They were incredibly kind and gave us lots of good information about the hotel and town (in very good English). They had lots of recommendations and even offered to set up reservations. They checked times of restaurants and such since they may have been different because of COVID and the holiday season. The room was a nice size and very clean. Came with all the amenities you expect. Also a spa was available to rent for free! You could use it privately for 45 minutes which was very relaxing. My only complaint is that the beds and pillows were extremely firm. But the massage chair in the room helped with any tense muscles afterwards. Overall would recommend this stay for a good room, good price, great location, and great staff!

This place is very nice. It was included in the package I went on today. The room is amazing with a massage chair to relax in and the room is fully stocked. Plus free spa I get to go use. Plus it was fun to see a little of the surrounding town and get some local goodies. 😁✌️

The hotel is very close to the JR station and the bus station only 180 metres. The staff were friendly, smiley and good at English who could help my stay more enjoyable. In the room, there is a massage chair which released the tense from my walking. I also loved the Nespresso machine in the room. The pyjamas were soft and comfy as the bed. The hotel also provided the smart phone with free call all over the world - but I didn't use it.

The service at this hotel is friendly and efficient. The staff have a little English but communication was never a problem. They have a ‘hole in the wall’ car park which was a novelty for us but worked like a charm.

We chose a twin room and it was spacious and well appointed.

The breakfast had plenty of Western and Japanese choices and was perfectly adequate.

It is about 10 minutes walk to the historic town area and 15 minutes to the large shrine. Both of these features are a must see in Takayama.

Excellent hotel. The room was very smartly designed and spotless. The bathroom was very contemporary and had glass walls that made the room seem even larger. Breakfast buffet was terrific. The spa for ladies had 3 whirlpool/jacuzzi tubs at onsen temperatures. Good location.

We were on a Tour and were put in a tiny smoking room at another hotel. We left and checked in to the Best Western. Room was huge and clean and modern. Breakfast was very good. As nice of a hotel and staff, that I could ever want.

Good option near the station, very easy to find.
Rooms don't have a ton of charm but are clean and the double rooms are reasonably spacious for Japanese standards. You can book them for single use for a quite reasonable price.
The main attractions are a 5 minute walk away. Didn't try the breakfast, but you may consider heading to the Onigiri shop around the corner or the morning market along the river.

Out of the hundred or so places I have stayed at in Japan this hotel had probably the nicest staff I have dealt with for this class of hotels. I ended up with a room with a loud snorer next door and they were gracious enough to provide me with another room in the middle of the night. The tap water provides delicious Takayama water and is drinkable. One downside is the beds were a little bit hard.

Hotel is located less than 5mins walk from main bus station. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. The old town is also within walking distance. The double room was spacious, very comfortable and clean. The Japanese breakfast was delicious. Staffs were polite and very helpful.

Great location and receptionist can also speak English and helpfull. Room are clean and comfortable.
