Reviews
I see some kids from school trip have left bad scores, but it didn’t happen in my stay. (E.g. the public bath room was clean)
There are many shopping streets around the hotel, and it is very convenient to eat. By the way, I recommend a barbecue restaurant called Asuka BBQ at the entrance of Nishiki Market, which you can walk in directly.
The Japanese style of the room is very comfortable. I stayed in the Orange Room. There is a small courtyard view outside the room window, and there is also an independent bathroom. The Japanese-style integrated bathroom experience is good. There is also a courtyard on the first floor to visit. I didn't experience the big bath on the underground floor. A cup of matcha will be provided after check-in, which tastes good👍
Looking forward to having the opportunity to stay again
The room is very large. The family room has two rooms and a separate bathroom and shower room. The Japanese wooden structure is also very distinctive. There is a hot spring downstairs, and there is a small and exquisite Japanese garden. Most of the waiters are older and very polite.
If you book a one-night stay and two-meals plan, both breakfast and dinner are Japanese. Dinner will be delivered to the room, and it will be served in several rounds before the next few dishes. The dishes are different for three nights, and the third night is shabu-shabu. Breakfast is eaten in the restaurant, and the table is full of various small dishes or boiled food. In terms of taste, most of the dishes are OK, and it is still good as a special experience.
Disadvantages: The booking rules are very rigid. My husband and I, a couple, are traveling with a one-year-old child. The system only allows us to book a family room with three meals, and the price is based on three adults. But in reality, the child can only eat a small portion of the food, and most of it is wasted.
The worst part of the stay was they only have buckwheat husk pillows (basically a bean bag) and did not have any western style pillows. Was shocked to have not seen this mentioned in any other reviews.
With that said, if you can tolerate the pillows, I think this is a very cute, traditional, old style hotel with big rooms in a great location. One evening when we got back, a woman served us tea in our room and chatted with us. We got a different little treat and little origami’s left in our room everyday. We took our shoes off every time we entered, and they stored our street shoes in a closet.
Breakfast was served in a communal room overlooking a beautiful courtyard garden. Times offered for breakfast were early - 7, 730, or 8. Big kaiseki meal with a changing protein, vegetables, miso soup, rice everyday. It was nice to start off mornings with a traditional Japanese breakfast.

Cafe and Restaurants near hotel
Hands down the best out of five places we stayed at during our Japan trip.
At first I thought the portion was small but I was wrong and it was filling! The smoked pork has a really nice texture and the sauces is sweet with a tingly taste. I would go back and try the others!
