Guest House WA - Hostel in Kyoto

The location of the B&B is quite good, not far from Kyoto Station, and the receptionist was quite welcoming, but the overall experience was truly depressing.

The B&B is located along a main road leading directly to Kyoto Station, and the soundproofing in the traditional Japanese building is practically nonexistent. My room faced the street, and the entire wall was made of ordinary glass, allowing me to clearly hear pedestrians and cars passing by. Staying in the room at night was like sitting on the street, a road that's incredibly busy, with an average of one car passing by every minute, often accompanied by several bosozoku (those who ride on the street). Honestly, I'm usually lazy and never write a review, but this one was incredibly painful. My friend and I stayed up all night, unable to fall asleep, and we were groggy and disoriented when we checked out in the morning.

Secondly, the B&B didn't specify the strict showering times. Upon arrival, we learned that showers on the third floor closed at 9:30 PM. The receptionist told us we could shower later on the fourth floor, but we were surprised to see that there was also a time limit, closing at 11:00 PM. When I went there, I happened to see someone taking a long bath in the only public bathhouse, despite being on a tight schedule. I waited at the entrance from 10:10 PM for half an hour before finally getting a chance to shower. It was truly terrifying.

This B&B does have its merits. Although it doesn't have a private bathroom, the cleanliness is quite good, and the front desk lady was very attentive and considerate. However, accommodation is ultimately a place to rest, so if you don't rest well, there's no need to complain.

If you're considering booking this B&B, please confirm whether the room faces the street and the soundproofing. The B&B owner can sleep in a room on the second floor facing the street for the night. You'll understand what I mean. If the noise level can't be improved, at least provide guests with earplugs and inform them of the serious, unreliable soundproofing issues.
