Good place and location , a lot of technological innovations which is pretty cool
If you want to make international friends and are into the backpacker vibe, this is the place for you. Very clean. Polite staff. Able to store luggage before check in. Location is right in the middle of the tourist district. Sometimes the elevator was very slow to pick you up if a busy time. My capsule room had a rip in the screen which let light in. Of course, the nature of this hotel is you are close...
Overall great experience at the Millenials Kyoto. When you arrive there is a possibility to leave your luggage before check-in.
The bed is quite comfortable, the bathroom could be a bit cleaner ->dust falling from the A.C fan…
The service is impeccable (there is even unlimited cofee/hot chocolate… available all day long)
Breakfast could have more fresh pastries (they where taken out of the plastic...
Hotels in Kyoto are really expensive during autumn leaf season, so this place is a great value for solo travelers. They provide slippers and towels, and the shared bathrooms are very clean and modern. The showers are spacious, and the staff are friendly. It's a bit of a walk to the subway on the main street, but very convenient for buses. Everyone staying here is quite quiet. The only downside is the...
The location is perfect with nice environment. The staff is friendly. Excellent place for people doing digital nomad
This capsule hotel was a great experience ! The capsule itself was big, the bed was comfortable. The common area had a nice vibe with people chilling all around. Very good location! I would definitely like to come back :)

The staff were kind and lovely. Even though my mother is not good at speaking English, the staff slowly gave advice. The service was very impressive. If anyone is traveling alone, I recommend this place as an option.
A capsule hotel and sauna located along Shijo Street. This time, I only used the sauna. The sauna front desk is on the 6th floor, the lockers are large, and the inside of the building is very spacious and clean. A large-scale renovation was completed a few years ago, and in addition to the large sauna, there is also a sauna on the rooftop, and there is also plenty of outdoor bathing space. The jacuzzi...
the onsen, spa and sauna is like the best i experience in kyoto man. very comfortable and relaxing. the breakfast was very good with alot of different varieties everyday.
Great location, love the spa option. Lots of rules. If you have tattoos you can cover it with bandage's
Just a few minutes walk from Gion-Shijo station and not that far from the shopping streets.
Great service and location, however, was kinda disappointed with the capsule as I felt stuffy inside and ventilation weren't that great.
I do love the sauna though, there's the roof sauna and hot spring.
Perhaps the sauna could indicate more English posters to educate the tourists on proper sauna etiquette
Honestly the best capsule hotel I've seen so far! The perfect location, very friendly staff, clean rooms, etc. The free sauna use is amazing, there are various kinds of sauna and baths that you can enjoy and even massages that aren't expensive.

I give them a 10/10 rating, but I should mention one issue. I paid tax twice—the staff asked for a tax payment, even though the online payment I made earlier already included taxes. This was a bit disappointing
lovely hostel. Should bring your own amenities as not provided
The hostel is very nice and modern. Good location in the heart of Kyoto but a bit distant from subway stations and buses. Yet still easy to travel to famous tourist spots in the city. Cabin was standard size with nice common areas at basement. Large storage room allowed you to keep luggages before checking in and during your stay which is a plus . Facilities in hostel were very good. Staffs are very...
I loooove Piece Hostel Sanjo! The staff is super helpful, its in a very good location whereby you'll reach the train station or bus stop in less than 10 mins by foot! The room is actually quite spacious and I love the area that you can just hang out to eat your kombini meals or people watch! Didnt use the rooftop at all though cos its winter and having breakfast (that you pay for) is convenient when...
The beds were incredibly comfortable, the common lounge was exceptionally luxurious, and the restrooms were very well-maintained. The only downside was the location, as it's a bit far from the subway line.
Really liked this hostel. Everything was clean and had good facilities. Close to key attractions too!

The room was clean and nice. It was also fun chatting with everyone on the common floor on the 2nd level.
Staff were all really welcoming & lovely! Nice social vibe as well. All clean - but room for improvement I think. Thanks, would defo stay again!
It was a very comfortable stay the staff could speak English and was really friendly and helpful. The accommodation itself felt clean and welcoming
Very nice hostel..enjoyed my 4 days stay here, lovely people at reception always ready to help you..next trip i am gonna stay here for a longer time...thank you k'shostel👍
Good location, walkable to metro station and some tourist attractions. Provides shoe rack and slippers to change upon entering, has lift to access all floors. Shared kitchen and common area is spacious and comfortable, provides kitchenware, stove, cutleries, coffee and tea. Toilets and bathroom are clean and equipped with hairdryer. There is storage under bunk bed but need to prepare your own lock...

Ah, one of the best hostels in Gion because you will meet so many foreigners here & make friends at the dining table. The best part was the kitchen & shower area. Super clean. They have almost all equipment to cook good food & enjoy at the dining table.
I stayed at The Ryokan Hostel Gion in Kyoto and had a great experience. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the entire place — including the showers and bathrooms — was spotless. The atmosphere felt cozy and friendly, making it easy to relax after a day of exploring the city.
The bedroom space is quite small, but it’s comfortable and convenient for short stays. Overall, it’s a great choice...
Lovely hostel with clean and comfortable amenities, fresh towels provided daily and located in a very central area near bus stops, subway station and Gion.
Our only hiccup was the dryer on the 4th floor not being able to dry our clothes too well. Not a big deal, the laundromat across the street is extremely well kept and useful.
Highly recommended for anyone wanting to visit this corner of Kyoto
Although everything is shared, the space was clean, even the restroom. There is a bathtub so if you are lucky no one is using it, you are free to do so. I just unfortunately have been assigned a bed that is beside the entrance so I wasn’t able to sleep immediately hearing the door slide every now and then. Also, I could hear every time others slide their curtains so it did take time before falling...
I love our experience in staying here. The staff are very kind and polite. They also recommend restaurants or places near the Hostel.
The exterior of the place is very traditional and the interior is very homy. There also a public area, where you can sit down with your friends to talk and a public kitchen where you can make a coffee.
There is also a convenience store near the hostel, so there are...
I stayed in the private rooms, so I am unaware of the true hostel experience here. The private rooms are very clean and modern, although they can be a bit cramped when all four bunks are occupied. They have a mini fridge with freezer, a microwave, and a water heater in the rooms. The public area is also very friendly and clean. No shoes allowed but they supply you with slippers.

Very clean and modern looking hostel. Drawback is location, but it’s close to Ryōan-ji and 50 min walking to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest.
Beautiful architecture and really the best youth hostel I been to in this world. Great breakfast
Very nice place & clean. The staff very helpful and friendly too.
The environment and surrounding makes you feel super comfortable.
Sadly, I only stay 1 night but will definitely come back on my next trip to Kyoto, Thanks…
Good youth hostel you can find many places around and you can also eat inside the youth hotel they have a restaurant

Everything was amazing. Very clean, silent, and they store the luggage after check-out. Awesome.
The location is good near mtr.
Can walk around 30mintus to another attraction, the colleagues so nice , you can cook by your self .there are many supermarkets nearby. Cause Japanese’s food didn’t have enough vegetables. The colleagues will help to clean. But there are little noises at 6am ,someone will turn on the lights and package there luggage.it depends on the roommate quality.
But I kindly suggest...
The hotel is about a 20-minute walk from Kyoto Station. The hotel only provides one towel and does not offer face wash or cleansing water for women. Male and female guests share the same bathroom and toilet area. The breakfast is not very diverse.
Everything was fine, but breakfast is terrible😞
it was close to sightseeing around of center kyoto
highly recommend and when you come to first time kyoto
every bus station very close in walk 5-10 minutes
everything was perfect. the only regret I had was not staying longer
bed was spacious, locker with lock, free breakfast, shower with bath tub, receptionist was really helpful

The location is beautiful for everyone who wants to be closer to nature and have more peace and privacy.
It is very clean but small. Also i think that washing and drying clothes option should be cheaper.
This is the best hostel I've ever stayed in! From its location (2 minutes from Arashiyama train station) to the coffee machine, tea selection, and the huge TV in the dining area with a view of a Japanese garden. The service is top-notch; they helped me with all my questions and even lent me a power adapter. There's an izakaya next door where you can enjoy a delicious dinner. I'm so glad I chose Arashiyama...
The hostel is near the bamboo forest and restraunts. They don’t keep luggage past 12pm which is an inconvenience, however everything else about the hostel is great.
I stayed at Mulan Hostel during my visit to Kyoto and really enjoyed the quiet, comfortable atmosphere. The room was small but clean and well-organized, with everything I needed. The staff were kind and helpful, and the location made it easy to get around. A simple, peaceful place to rest after a day of exploring.
Having stayed in Arashiyama already for 1 day at another nearby hotel, I hadn’t anticipated liking the area so much. I located Mulan Hotel and stayed in the dorm bed for 2 nights. Being the only guest there, the beds and common areas (such as bathrooms, kitchen etc) were clean. They had access to a washing machine and dryer which was appreciated after 2 weeks of travel.
Presented with a discount...
The owner is kind and the facilities are very clean. The bathroom, sink, and shower are conveniently located. However, the stairs to the 2nd and 3rd floors are a bit steep and narrow. Please note this if you are carrying a carrier. Bath towels, face towels, toothbrushes, and toothbrush cups are provided. There is also a 2,000 won coupon for a nearby hot spring bathhouse, so be sure to get it and go...

Aromatherapy stay. Just lovely. I’ve and close to attractions and one of the best locations in Kyoto. Rooms are bright, extremely clean, love the smells of essential oils. Shops and food close close by. Great place and affordable.
This was definitely a highlight. The bathhouse is a bit small but when you have it to yourself it is amazing. Area is pretty good, close to the market. Staff are really helpful and even let me check in early! Just the facilities are a bit old but that's what the experience is for ig.
Your hotel's service is seriously problematic. Other hotels provide check-in information and passwords three days in advance, but your hotel staff kept insisting that they would only provide them upon check-in. By the time I arrived on check-in day, I had already left, and your hotel staff kept giving me nonsensical requests for check-in information! After confirming that the information was correct...
Basic room but overall a great and affordable stay in Kyoto. Shared bath and no tv but who needs a tv in Kyoto?
Thank you for your help. I will use your service again.
Both the interior and exterior of the building are very stylish. The room was spacious and relaxing as there was no UB.
The sound of doors opening and closing and footsteps walking down the hallway were quite audible, but the rules regarding shower usage times and playing music in the room were clearly written in the notices, so I thought I could stay comfortably.

An old house with all its pros and cons. Warm. Toilets in the yard. Good location.
Nice hostel close to Gion. I spent a good time there.
This is a very unique hotel. It has no central heating, making it impossible to sleep in the evenings and at night. There's air conditioning, which is supposed to replace the heating, but it's not up to the task. One downside is that the toilet and sink are located outside. Washing up in the morning requires all the strength you need to go outside in November in light clothing and wash your face with...
Lovely little traditional Japanese wooden house turned hostel, they have free porridge in the morning and little snacks and tea in the relaxing area. Room was clean and comfortable and the price was fantastic.
The walls in the room were like cardboard—very thin. The glass facing the street made everything very loud, including people walking above. When booking, specify that you want a room away from the entrance, otherwise you'll hear everyone coming and going. The room only had a toilet and sink. The shower, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, and kitchenette were shared. You could get tea and coffee for free...
Great house, very convenient to check in. Very private and affordable! The bed is very comfortable, all kinds of facilities are very complete, free tea is available 24 hours a day, and the owner is attentive and enthusiastic.

Room : We got the room at the 2nd floor. Room cleanliness is a little poor, there're dust over the corners. Easily hit the roof pillar 😂 but it was just to experience the 100 years old house, so okay..
Self check in. They provide simply porridge with nothing else but salt for experience.
No water bottle provided.
Location: about 5-8min walking distance to Umekoji station which is quite convenient...
The room was clean, but the house was old. There is only 1 restroom and 1 bathroom for 7 bedrooms. People need to wait for their turns to use them. The restroom and bathroom are not as good as other hotels that we used that were about the same prices.
I would expect more from this hotel with the price of $70/night.
The receptionist speaks English well which is a good sign.
Cool place!
There are several old Japanese houses - all belong to the hotel. There are cute lounge places, one has a library (with even some books in English).
I like the old interior and dim lighting. Also a little garden outside.
I think it’s great way to experience Japanese culture!
Very traditional stay, the hotel was both an experience and accommodation. Comfortable futon beds and good toilets. Quite and great facilities. Bikes were a great way to see the city.
Pleasant stay for a winter night of solo traveller.
It was cool of them to not require any check in and check out process, I booked with Agoda and they told me it's fine to just leave the cash in the room before leaving.

I suddenly needed to stay overnight in Kyoto and made a reservation on the same day.
The inn was clean. I only stayed there for one night, but it was a comfortable stay.
A warm welcome. The capsules were nice and fairly well insulated. The kitchen was well-equipped. The bathrooms were adequate. Bicycles were available for a very reasonable price. Note: Before and on the day of check-in, the staff will email you to confirm your check-in time. Be sure to reply. Don't be late. A 1,000 yen fee will be charged for every 45 minutes past the check-in time.

The owner of the hotel was very friendly and pleasant. The sleeping place was not very comfortable, but I did not find other options for living near the Golden Temple. In general, it is ok for one night, even good that it is not very comfortable, so there is more incentive to wake up faster, take a shower and leave. Thank you!

We first stayed at Gion Ryokan Qbeh in 2014 for our honeymoon, and it left such a deep impression on us that we always hoped we would return one day. In 2025, we finally came back — this time with our kids — and it was just as magical, in a completely different but equally meaningful way.
This stay, we booked four private ensuite rooms, which was perfect for our family. The rooms were beautifully...
The stay was nice. Showers were clean and there was free coffee. The traditional beds were oke for a couple of days, but not for a week. I was looking forward to a place with curtains and a good bed. Location is perfect!
We stayed for 6 nights and loved it. Very helpful, friendly staff, great location and well equipped kitchen with free coffee you can make in individual drip. Amazing hot water for showers. Attracts a young, quiet, friendly group of international travelers.

Super comfortable hostel with a clam and relaxing vibe. The amenities and personal hygiene products provided definitely exceeded my expectations. Staff was helpful and responsive to emails. Guests were respectful and quiet so i had a very good night sleep here.
I’ve stayed here twice now, 3.5 years apart and both times it was an excellent experience, would come back again!
Clean and quiet, the bunks are so private and roomy it seems more like a capsule hotel than hostel (but the price of a hostel!)
This was my 4th trip to Kizuna! I absolutely love the vibe and friendly atmosphere.
