Absolutely fabulous. The finest hotel, the finest services, the best hotspring setvice and superb food. Will always want to come back.
Our family of four stayed here in the suite. Experience was fantastic in every way. Service was top notch from the moment you step foot until you leave. Rooms were as expected; clean, comfortable beddings (both mattress and futon), and the view was picturesque. Both private and public onsen was great. Not many people in the public onsen when I was there. Public onsen has outdoor portions which was...
Wonderful experience. The rooms and views are fantastic, and the staff goes above and beyond to help. Thank you!!
Ryokan with a modern twist. Appreciate the convenience of an in room onsen in our suite. Have all the modern conveniences and yet have a ryokan experience. Kaiseki dinners in partitioned enclosures lent some privacy.
Everything about the stay here was exceptional. Staff were incredibly well mannered and couldn't do enough to help us. We were able to get a pick up from Gora station to the hotel, and found it to be an easy experience.
They gave a quick tour of facilities upon check-in, even an escort to the room. Carried baggage from driveway and deposited to our room. I was the only one in the public bath at 5pm. The meals were amazing. While unable to accommodate gluten free diet with traditional cooking, they were very kind in informing which dishes had gluten. 5/5 you should stay here

Our stay at Musashino Bekkan in Hakone was a beautiful and unforgettable experience. The hospitality was exceptional, with staff who made us feel genuinely welcomed from the moment we arrived. The ryokan’s traditional design and serene atmosphere enhanced the charm of our visit. The hot spring baths were a true standout—immaculately maintained and incredibly calming, with natural spring water that...
We loved the springs and the authentic experience. The whole hotel is designed to become a place for rest and relaxation. Dinner was great, and breakfast was a bit unusual for us, as we did not quite get the food (it was unusual for us). Overall, I would recommend staying here.
A true Japanese experience. The onsen was amazing, we were a family and loved it. We also had a great experience with breakfast and dinner, very Japanese! Totally recommend it
The people who served us the meals, especially the elderly woman, were very kind and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Unfortunately, the experience with the housekeeping staff was quite the opposite. One man entered our room without asking while we were recording a light-hearted video, which made the whole situation feel very awkward. Overall, they came across as rude and also refused to keep our luggage...
This hotel is a paradise in the mountains of Hakone! Traditional style of the rooms - it feels like you are living in a Japanese family. We were prepared a traditional dinner, which was served in our room. It was very tasty and varied! The hotel has 3 onsen: 2 - private, 1 - public. We visited only the private ones (you need to book a time in advance at the reception upon check-in, the visit time is...

Awesome place with great service. The staff is beyond helpful. The open-air onsen is beautiful and worth visiting. The room included dinner and breakfast - everything was of high quality and taste, though if you don't like the fried fish in the morning or pickled vegetables you might not like it. Will definitely stay again if ever had a chance.
This was, without a doubt, the best hotel I've ever stayed at in Hakone Yumoto. First, let's talk about the location. It's quite a walk from Hakone Yumoto Station, with lots of uphill sections, so I'd recommend taking a taxi. There's a convenience store about a 10-minute walk from the hotel, but we didn't go because of the uphill return journey. Secondly, the service. The service here is truly a...
This is outstanding ryokan. Everything was great. Open-air onsen is nice and not overloaded with people. Dinner and breakfast very tasty and with variety of dishes. Thank you very much for hospitality.
Amazing hospitality. We were traveling with a one-year-old. We were greeted, accommodated, and explained everything. Everything was done for our comfort. The hot springs were amazing, and we took the opportunity to try the private onsen and spend time with family. Our little one loved it. There's also a ping-pong room downstairs with a play area for children—it was very comfortable! Dinner and breakfast...
A wonderful ryokan, friendly staff, delicious food and a cozy onsen.
It's an amazing place for great price! Staff is very lovely and welcoming, rooms are clean and nicely orginized, onsen is on smaller side but very neat. It's located very close to Hakone station as well. Highly recommend to try it at least once!

Food was great. Room was spacious and clean.
We loved having our own onsen to enjoy and it was wonderful to enjoy traditional meals. There is a free shuttle bus from Hakone Yumoto station to Hakone Yuyo hot spring resort which is right across the street from the hotel that we were able to use. If you have large luggage the shuttle bus doesn't work because it has no luggage storage. It was a short walk to the train to start our Hakone Loop journey...
The food is good, the location requires a walk or a taxi. Comfort Inn
The hotel is in a great location. You can take the free shuttle bus to the Hakone Yuryo next door. The front desk manager is Chinese. Both dinner and breakfast are very rich, 🉑so it is worth the money~
The traditional Riokan Onsen experience was awesome in this place. The rooms are newly renovated, we had a private onsen with mountain view., the food was amazing and the service was great. It’s was a bit pricey but was worth the experience.
Since it gets dark in Japan as early as 5.30 pm we were in for an adventure trip to find this destination. Although this place is close to the railway station it was so dark that we struggled finding this location. Our disappointment baesd on the spooky trip to this place was soon replaced with joy once we entered this place. Its a beautiful onsen resort with a wonderful staff. The hospitality and...

A wonderful hotel! The dinner was incredible: beautiful, delicious, and filling. We ate everything. Bring something to help your stomach digest. Wagyu, crab claws, and lots of tasty little appetizers. The room was wonderful. Very clean, with a beautiful view from the window. They made our beds for us while we were out for dinner. We slept softly. The onsen is wonderful. There's a shared room with...
Great location, close to the train and funicular stations. There's a very pleasant park nearby, with a teahouse and workshops. I really liked the hotel itself – the atmosphere, the views from the windows, the living room, and the onsen – amazing. The kaiseki is luxurious, with lots of seafood. The onsen is simply lovely. So cozy and quiet. You can spend half an hour in a private one. Perhaps it's better...
It's larger than a family hotel, but smaller than other hotels. There were many Europeans and Americans, as well as locals. There was a Chinese waitress who was very attentive and wonderful. The food was also quite good. 👍 The downsides were the management, which was mediocre. The hotel is located on foot, and I couldn't walk to the nearby bus station, and the management didn't help. Usually, hotels...
Great view from the hall and from the room, great room itself, as well as dinner and breakfast. Close to the station, easy to get to. I liked everything. The onsen is small, but quite cozy. I recommend it.
An excellent hotel for complete relaxation, the room was huge by Japanese standards in a traditional style, I immersed myself in Japanese culture 😊 And dinner and breakfast were simply amazing, very tasty and very plentiful 😄 In general, if you want to soak in a hot onsen and enjoy the mountains, this hotel is perfect for this!!
Amazing experience. The food was great, the staff was very nice, the onsen was beautiful. There was only one other family in the hotel, so the public onsen almost became private. We were very impressed with the sashimi and wagyu beef dinner. I took off one star for cleanliness, but maybe that was because of the overall "shabby" look of the place (it shows signs of time). Anyway, the atmosphere of the...

An ok place which we stayed at cause we booked late and most places were sold out. It was basic and functional, but needs a refurb. Bathroom was extremely small as can be the way in Japan. The bathroom taps/shower were a bit of a nightmare to get to a decent temperature and volume. Beds were firm. The onsen was very functional and was extremely hot. Yukata provided and get to choose the size which...
This was a place I can only enjoy as a one-time stay. I can't see myself going back again with my family. The place is a little old, so the walls are thin and you can hear the people next door. They will give you earplugs, so if you have troubles sleeping you can use them. However, the problem of your neighbours hearing you is not solved. If you have baby screaming, they can hear you. If you want...
Very cool older Ryokan. The age is part of its charm. The staff were so friendly and helpful and accommodating. The breakfast and dinner buffets had a nice selection of foods and the beer pouring machine was great. I was able to drive to many spots from this location. If you’re not driving then plan on lots of walking up hills and I did that one day and I was huffing and puffing. Haha
like this hotel, value for money. they have indoor and outdoor onsen. reception staff speak fluent english and very helpful to help us to make a toll free call to tokyo.
Hotel was ok. No wow effect. Everything seemed a bit old. Staff was helpful and polite.
Services are good. The building is a bit old. The en suite bath tube is quite small. Going to the nearest bus stop, for H-line bus, takes about 7 minutes up a slope. This is ok for travelling locally sight seeing but maybe too much hard work if dragging luggage.

Highly recommended, traditional Japanese style hotel with silk soup. The hotel offers two time slots for dinner at 6pm and 6:30pm every night, and two time slots for breakfast at 8:00am and 8:30am. If you see the standard of their meals, you will understand why they require exact meal times, because their meals are not business hotel buffets, but Kaiseki cuisine level. The staff of this hotel speaks...
The hotel is located near the station, small and beautiful. Hot springs and dinner and breakfast were very nice. The Japanese-style room was damp and cold, but when I tried to turn on the air conditioner for heating, I could smell mold, maybe it hadn't been cleaned.
The room is very big, very quiet, has a separate hot spring bath, very clean, the dinner is amazing, I like it very much, the landlady is very gentle and kind
Approximately 15 minutes from Hakone Yumoto Station It is a small hotel, suitable for a quiet rest. Kaiseki cuisine was delicious and the staff were friendly. After using the open-air hot spring for 40 minutes without disturbing others, we had dinner. The changing area at the open-air hot spring is old and needs improvement. I had a good rest
Japanese style, just so-so, may not be suitable for Chinese people Hygiene: clean Environment: OK Service: The private soup is good, recommended. Breakfast and dinner were not satisfactory. There was no fruit or ice cream at this price, and there was no milk or eggs for breakfast. This hotel is still very stingy.

Very impressed with the dinner. Tempanyaki style. Cooked on the spot. Very elaborate dinner with finer details.Treat you like king. Bravo
I had a great stay with my brother. Lovely breakfast and dinner. Facilities were clean and functioning well. Staff was kind and helpful. The location is a bit uphill, prepare to walk on an incline for 5 minutes.
When we arrived, we were given a welcome drink and snacks, and then we took a short break and went into the hot springs. The food was excellent, and the staff were all nice. I would love to stay here again.
This was my third time here and I was once again very satisfied with the consistent service and food. The food in particular was creative and delicious, with dishes that I wouldn't normally be able to eat. I'll definitely come back when I want to relax.
What a beautiful area. Serene environment. Prebooking of hot stone spa and jacuzzi were easily done once registration online was complete.
The hot spring is only public and is charged on top of the room rate. The mountain view is OK, but unfortunately we didn't encounter good weather. It's a long steep slope from Gora Station. Not recommended if you have a lot of luggage.

A very nice ryokan. We had a room with a beautiful view from the window, and it was very clean. Nothing was broken or damaged. The furniture wasn't new, but that had an authentic charm. We really enjoyed the lobby and the onsen (the views from them were stunning). The location is convenient, within walking distance of the ski lift. The staff is very friendly. I'm leaving a review of my two-night stay alone in a double room. Location: Shinjuku - Hakone-Yumoto Station (Romancecar/1 hour 20 minutes) - Ryokan (J-Line bus/40-50 minutes). The Romancecar ride is convenient. If you take the J-Line bus, it's crowded, so you'll have to stand. When checking out, ask the receptionist and they'll give you a ride back to the station. Cleanliness: The bedding, closet...
A very nice ryokan with nice staff and beautiful view. I was just a bit shocked that they made me pay the food for 2 persons even though I have just booked for one.
The location is eight minutes' drive from the station, but there is a car to pick you up. The hotel has a beautiful environment and first-class air. But the hotel is a bit old. The dinner and breakfast were delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful, and there was someone ready to make the bed at night.

This place needs renovation. I was surprised with the amount of rust not only in hot spring area, but in the room too. And just the overall experience. I'm soory, but I don't recommend this place
I went on a two-day, one-night hot springs trip from Tokyo to Hakone! My boyfriend and I were looking for a casual, two-day trip, and we decided on Hakone, a tourist destination with great hot springs and fresh air. First of all, there's a train from Shinjuku to Hakone, so it was very accessible. And once we arrived in Hakone, we could take the opposite train to Goura Station, the station closest...

The ryokan is conveniently located. The parking lot offers a picturesque view of the mountains. The ryokan itself is certainly old and tired, but it still has the atmosphere of that anime-inspired place. The baths are good, though the public ones were a bit crowded. Overall, the impression is positive, and we thank the staff for their care. However, the ryokan is quite old, and inside all the rooms there is a smell of age, which makes it not very pleasant to stay there. We loved this hotel; it's much cuter in person than in the photos. Everything was very clean and well-maintained. They have private bathrooms, two inside and two outside. The hotel is clean, tidy, and practical.
Directions from the station exit. Walk up the hill on the left hand side for a couple of minutes. You will see a liquor store and food store. Turn left into this street. Friendly staff and nice view with Fuji mountain. Stay peaceful.
The room was decent, but the view from the first floor wasn't great. I imagine the higher floors would have a better view. The food was good, typical Japanese style, and the service was also good.
The scenery is beautiful, and the location is great, right next to Lake Ashi. The rooms are quite large and the facilities are good. Very friendly and helpful reception. He drove us to the station. Also the lady in the restaurant. The food was excellent. Lot of fresh seafood. Sauna and public onsen were great. We also got timeslot for private onsen. The location is about 10 minutes walk from station but quite hilly road. It was a nice walk when we did not drag our luggages. View from our room was excellent
The hotel does not provide body towels, and you have to pay 500 yen for one. Shared toilet, and you have to wait to go in the cubicle. The ambient is a little creepy 😅
We stayed here to be close to the train station. I guess we didn't realize it was a double bed room with no private bath (it turned out to not be busy, so it wasn't a problem). But no bathroom amenities available, no towels and no clear place to take a shower. The beds were ridiculously hard (I've slept on grounds while camping that were softer than these beds). Staff was very pleasant to interact...
It was a room-only stay. It would be perfect if they increased the number of shared toilet stalls! Also, I wish there was Wi-Fi in the rooms.
For a one-night stay package that included two meals, all-you-can-drink alcohol, and a private onsen, it was absolutely flawless. The service was very friendly, although their English was a bit limited. Definitely the best value for money in Hakone Yumoto!
The room was a decent size. The pajamas provided were very comfortable, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious! The subway station is right across the street, just a stone's throw away. The area is very quiet, and a morning stroll around the Imperial Palace was lovely.

The room was clean, a standard Japanese-style room, but it didn't have a private bathroom; we had to use the communal onsen for showers. The room is a traditional Japanese Style. The environment was very relaxing and surrounded by nature. The hot spring was amazing with bamboo forest surrounding which gives the most calming vibe.

The bathroom is shared! There's a sink in the room, but going to the bathroom in the early morning can be inconvenient. If you don't know the location, it might be difficult to get there. Buying a local free pass is convenient. The food is so delicious that it's worth all the inconveniences mentioned above. Highly recommended!
Great service and good value for money on the food! 👍 The bathroom is a bit old though. 🙃
The building felt a little worn, but everything was exceptionally clean and functional. We liked our traditional Japanese room. I was afraid that we'd be cold there in November but we managed to heat the room really well with the AC. We could easily book a private onsen room just for us upon arrival. Very satisfied, such a historic hotel is in a great location. The food is good and the accommodation is also good and satisfactory 👍
This is a surprisingly old hotel. While many of the amenities are dated and some rooms lack private bathrooms, my personal experience makes it highly recommended. An older traditional ryokan. The hostess was so kind and provided delicious meals. There is a small onsen available as well.
