Reviews
Checking in was incredible I was met by a wonderful woman. She was the most uplifting and incredibly professional person I have ever met.
Rooms were breathtaking and the cleanliness was amazing
Unfortunately, that is where the compliments stop
Service staff and food in the Oceana was the biggest letdown breakfast was terrible definitely the biggest light down considering the price and the service when it came to booking I had called the resort on six occasions today double checking my booking was completed. I was met with incompetence and rudeness going back and forth to confirm a reservation was ridiculous. The only glowing positive was the three female wait staff that I had over the 3 visits were incredible they would bend over backwards they were kind to my daughter. They were really lovely.
I’m still waiting for a manager to call back over the poor food quality and the horrific back-and-forth for today still waiting.
The hotel itself is beautiful and has such great theme. The views of the park are incredible. The rooms were comfortable and the amenities were very nice.
Breakfast was OK. There were a lot of options, including churros, which was exciting. I love the dining room, but every day I wanted to be seated in the bubble area and unfortunately, I never got to.
Only took off a star because it was very expensive, and we later stayed at the ambassador hotel, which I don’t think was worth the price difference.
Come to find out the outdoor pool was closed because it was spring and raining, which I get, but then we found out the pool downstairs was part of the spa and had an extra charge. Kind of a letdown and definitely not what we expected, especially after hearing so much about the hotel.
The wives stayed back with the kiddos so me and the other dad went to handle check in. First hurdle was just getting into the hotel. Security was no joke. My app stopped cooperating and my ticket would not show, so I called my wife and she sent me a screenshot. Still got denied. It took several minutes, multiple checks, and the other dad finally had to use another pass to get us through.
Not gonna lie, it felt less like entering a Disney hotel and more like going through TSA at LAX. Tiny guards, big authority.
Once we finally made it inside, the lobby was a complete cluster. Packed with people everywhere trying to check in and no real flow at all. Eventually we got to the same front desk and took turns with the same rep.
At first he seemed nice enough, but when it got to my turn I asked for 3 extra pillows because my back has been messed up. Then the other dad asked for extra pillows too since he had his two girls with him. Back to back we were both told they were out of pillows.
That instantly felt off.
We get to the room and I call housekeeping myself asking for the exact same 3 pillows. They show up fast with zero issue. No drama, no we are out, nothing. I told the other dad to do the same and they brought his up too.
So now I’m sitting there thinking, were they really out, or did the front desk just not want to help us?
That part left a bad taste in my mouth and honestly made us feel singled out. For a hotel at this level, that kind of front desk service is unacceptable.
One of the elevators was out of service for our entire stay, which made getting to and from our room on the 10th floor much more time-consuming than it should have been. The check-in process also felt more complicated than expected, especially having to check in just to get park tickets and paper passes. It was surprising that everything came as paper tickets in a folder that we then had to keep carrying around in the parks.
We had breakfast at the buffet restaurant, and the underwater theming was really cute and gave the space a bright, airy feel. The food was okay, but not especially memorable, and there were only a couple of vegetarian options, so it would not have been my first choice if there had been more convenient alternatives. We also tried the Cantonese restaurant, which was just okay. My family enjoyed the seafood, but the meal did not feel especially filling.
The hotel gift shop was another area that felt a little underwhelming. For a Disney property, I expected a stronger merchandise selection, especially compared with other Disney hotels we’ve stayed at. One of the most disappointing parts of the stay was finding out at the very end that the drink coupons we had been given were actually for unlimited drinks in the park during our stay. We had originally understood them to mean one drink per person total, so we barely used them and probably missed out on well over $100 in value.
There are definitely some lovely touches here, and the location is hard to beat, but the comfort, convenience, and communication issues kept this from feeling like the deluxe Disney hotel experience we were hoping for.
