Stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. The room in the 21st is the premium rooms. Newly renovated. It smells and feels like a 4 to 5 star hotel. Toilets still feels slightly dated. The car access needs a bit of work, esp. if you are visiting from abroad and rented a car from the airport. Great hotel just 5 mins walking distance from Kanda station and within easy reach to most places in Kyoto by public transport. The rooms are small as other places in Japan but modern and clean. The small double bed is just barely enough for two people. There is a buffet breakfast in the annexed restaurant downstairs that is a decent price but very disappointing.

As of this posting, there are two Ai Hotels. This one is Kamata Ekimae, NOT Kamata. Careful if you’re hailing a taxi. As for the hotel, the value trumps all. Hotel is quite average, but the price is unbeatable. Would stay here again.
