Inexpensive hotels in Tokyo

We originally planned to stay for only two nights and then move on, but given its great value for money, we decided to extend our stay for another two nights

Very good location. Very near to shinkoiwa station. Shopping and kombini just nearby. Will stay here again if I come to Tokyo

The location is fantastic, making it incredibly convenient for both travel and shopping, with excellent transportation links

It made getting in with large luggage quite a hassle, especially for women, who might find it particularly strenuous

Very close to the station. Facilities are good. Shops and restaurants are nearby. This place is convenient

Couldn't fault anything about the hotel. My only minor gripe was the steps at the entrance on both sides

The train station is in close proximity to the hotel and is literally within walking distance. There’s a local McDonald’s in case you’re homesick for some modified American fare

You’ll receive a voucher for breakfast which is served here daily. It’s not customary to tip in Japan so it’s not necessary to feel inclined to do so. Have an awesome stay and travel light!

My experience at APA hotel was actually really wonderful. My best friend and his friend (and her daughter) and myself stayed at this hotel for about 6 days

Clean and comfortable, it just takes 5 minutes to the train station.

Close to a station and plenty of stores and restaurants. The major setback to this hotel is the cleanliness of the room. The coin laundry is ineffective and I would recommend using the local store ones near by

There was also a case where 1 of my group's room got cleaned and then they forgot to put the soap bottle back

Excellent hotel, breakfast had plenty of choice and was quite tasty compared to most other hotels. Amenities in abundance available on ground floor and your room has everything else that you need

Facilities: The soundproofing in the room wasn't great. The people next door were making a lot of noise; I even thought they were knocking on my door. Cleanliness: This was excellent, very clean

There was a good choice of food in the buffet and everything we ate was lovely. The hotel is close to Kojimachi metro station, just across the road from exit 5 so simple for travelling options

Environment: The hotel is in a quiet spot despite being in a lively area. There are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores nearby, plus a popular photo spot

It's just a short walk from Exit 5 of Kojimachi subway station; other exits are a bit further. Service: The front desk service was very good

Location has a little far from train station . It use about 10 minute for walking to JR station . But room is clean and very good service .

It's a great hotel, really close to the station. There are tons of restaurants around the hotel, and even a convenience store for late-night snacks, so I never felt inconvenienced

Overall very clean and tidy. The staff was very friendly. Conveniently close to a lot of restaurants, convenience stores and the train station. 

With its location in front of the station, large rooms, and cleanliness, I think this is a good hotel for a business trip

I didn't get breakfast, but there are plenty of convenience stores and restaurants around the hotel

There's even a Daiso nearby, which was really handy for picking up anything I needed

The rooms were a bit small but it was clean and very comfortable.

The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful! I booked it because I had business in Iidabashi, and it was lovely to take a leisurely stroll along the river from Ichigaya to Iidabashi. I'd love to visit again.

Front desk was very polite and helpful when I asked them questions. Overall，great value for money，especially for solo travelers on a budget in Tokyo

I used the onsen for the first time and the first class cabin was not that bad and easy for a first time capsule experience. They stored my luggage the next day as well. Great experience overall.

It was a great location, a few stops away from Shinjuku Station so not too busy and chaotic, but still close to everything. There’s a drug store right next door, and an Mos Burger and other places to eat just steps away

Hotel was located in front of the exit to Ichigaya station. Economy class rooms were also quite comfortable for me. Restrooms and showers were also very clean. There were also some shops nearby to dine in

I stayed as a traveller but many people stay for work purposes. The television was a nice luxury, but I really like that each of the pods had two outlets and the air conditioner was really powerful

For a solo or minimalistic traveller, it does the job! Bed is big enough for even 2, it's basic but comfortable, privacy is great with the rollable curtains to hide entrance but it's not sound proof (can hear people snoring)

The location is excellent, just about 100 meters from the west exit of Suidobashi subway station

Great environment. It's located downtown, with shrines and parks nearby, making it convenient for getting around.

The 'ladies only' floor and lockers require a room key to access, which made me feel very secure. The locker was just big enough to fit my 28-inch suitcase! 👍🏽 The rooms are cleaned daily at 11 AM, and sheets are changed

There's a FamilyMart convenience store right downstairs, and a delicious soba noodle place too! 😋 The environment is great, but it's a bit inconvenient that the capsule only has USB charging

A nice touch was the complimentary tonic booster drink for guests. Overall, the capsule experience was unique and enjoyable. I do wonder if capsule hotels for couples exist — that would be an interesting concept to try!

No air conditioning during winter (Early Feb), had to open the window for ventilation which is a little noisy at night but still bearable

Extremely convenient location! It's near Ueno Station, making trips to the airport cheap and fast. There are plenty of dining, entertainment, and shopping options around. Navigating the subway is also a breeze

There was even a humidifier in the room!! Great for the winter months! Location was amazing! It was just a short 10mins walk from the Keisei Ueno Stn to catch the skyliner direct from Narita

I would definitely choose to stay here again next time! The room was very clean and cozy and even though it was small (on par with japanese standards) it has everything I needed

And 5 mins walk away are a few other subway lines (at least 5 more other lines scattered nearby) that can connect you to other major areas of Tokyo easily

It is a very convenient area to stay! The service staff was also very welcoming and kind! Thank you for making my stay wonderful! ^^

What truly impressed me were the amenities: free alcohol, free late-night snacks, free drinks, and a breakfast menu that included miso soup, popcorn, and so many other options! And the astonishing 12:00 PM check-out time was a huge bonus! I'm definitely coming back here again

The lockers were spacious, the bath was nice, and the bathroom amenities were also very easy to use. They had ramen and curry for breakfast and dinner, which was nice. The popcorn was also good with the alcohol

I heard that starting March 4, 2026, it will become women-only. It's a shame that men won't be able to stay here anymore, but next time I visit, I'll definitely check out the Shinjuku branch

Great capsule hotel for solo travelers. Convenient location from the red line Marunouchi line and from JR lines. Breakfasts, unlimited drinks, sauna and onsen are included

I already dream of coming back here. I don’t think you could get any more a positive experience from a capsule hotel. This will be my home base in future Tokyo trips!

It was only a few stops from Shinjuku and very close to the station, which sealed the deal. True to its name, it's a women-only hotel, which made me feel very safe

The price is relatively cheap, you're right in front of a convenience store, you don't really get amenities but you can buy for cheap... it's more of a party hostel...not a quiet one

The facilities, beddings, towel were very clean. Shared bathroom was also clean with stable hot shower. I feel safe and comfortable during the stay and highly recommend for solo/ budget travellers

Everything else is a plus! It's great value for money, the breakfast isn't skimpy, there are plenty of common areas, the kitchen facilities are sufficient, the social atmosphere is good without being too wild, and you can even watch movies

Godzilla, the Golden Gai, the Cat and Donki is just 10-15 mins away. The Mario Kart is also 2 blocks away. The people (guests) are mainly foreigners. The staff and service and their breakfast is very good

It was a great experience! I was told that this would be a self-service check-in, but there were staff helping with the check-in process. Process was smooth and quick, and the staff is friendly

The only downside is that it's about 1km from Shinjuku Station (though there's a closer metro station, I didn't seem to use it much)

Locates 5-10 min walking to the metro and 15-20 min to the main station to the airport. Nice room equipped with everything needed. I have no serious issues during my stay. Only the bed was too small for 2 people

Lovely staff, super helpful especially in filling in the luggage transport forms! It is a super quiet neighborhood so we felt a bit bad dragging along noisy suitcases when we left

Quality service, convenient location, amazing lounge area and Cafe, free to use smartphone (with internet data) for those people who didn't get a Japanese Sim card. This place is worth every penny.

Breakfast was great but some guests were just so loud and the place is small with many sharing space in a large table, so it was a bit annoying for a couple of mornings

Bathrooms were not super clean and were cheap looking prefabricated units. As a 70kg 180cm person I found it quite uncomfortable to use the toilet

Great location and very helpful staff. Really nice breakfast, with some variety. The room was a bit small but it's normal for Japan.

Right next to it is the subway station. Surprisingly, there is a bathhouse! You can take a bath and even enjoy a sauna, which is very exciting. The service is excellent. For sleeping at night, you need earplugs.

The amenities is good 👍 but I guess there’s always the issue for people who book the hotel on trip. I thought I booked an individual capsule space however it’s not. The image was completely wrong and misleading

It's a very affordable capsule hotel. Not a luxury place and does not need to act like one - for 1500 yen a night you get a clean, warm place to sleep, hot bath and sauna, fresh towels, razors, toothbrushes

My regular place to stay every time I come to Japan. This time, I stayed for three nights and was not disappointed. I really like it. And next time, I'll definitely stay here.

Sec floor space where you can heat up your food and eat there but the smoke smell too heavy that I almost vomit

We had already anticipated the room would be small, so this was acceptable. This was my first time in Japan, and I chose this place. There's an elevator, the room was very clean, and the location is good

Riko at the front desk was very helpful and spoke English well. The bed was comfortable. Very near the station and plenty of restaurants and supermarkets nearby.

Booked a double room with a friend. The bedroom had no overhead light, just a desk lamp, and the space between the bed and the desk was so narrow you could only walk sideways

There's a convenience store nearby for shopping, and the train station is just a short walk away. The front desk service was excellent

We stayed in a triple room, and the one on the fifth floor seemed quite spacious. My friends on a different floor were in a triple room too, but said theirs was smaller, though I didn't actually see it

The hotel was exceptionally clean, making for a very comfortable stay. I also appreciated that the walk from Akabane Station felt safe, even for a woman walking alone at night

The amenities, especially those catering to female guests, were a pleasant surprise and very satisfying. Toyoko Inn really lives up to its reputation!

The hotel is small but has everything you need. The front desk service is excellent, and the surrounding area is well-equipped.

It was easily accessible, just a 5-minute walk from the station. The breakfast buffet was delicious!

It was a smoking room, but there was very little nicotine smell and it was very comfortable!

Knew that the place was small so the lugguges have to be placed at their lobby! Had to have everything needed to be taken out & carried to the room instead~ Was actually out for the whole day so it was of much a issue

The location is fantastic, just one stop away from Tokyo Big Sight, which was super convenient and saved us hard-working folks some money by staying nearby. My experience during the stay was excellent too

I actually love that there is a 24 hour noodles shop nearby & the noodles is really good~ Will stay here again for next solo trip if it's near my event venue!

I had to move out because the hotel was fully booked for my subsequent dates, but they still allowed me to leave my luggage there until I left Japan today

There was a Russian lady at the front desk who wasn't very good at English, but she still made a great effort to communicate with me

I genuinely thank all of them from the bottom of my heart, and I hope more of my fellow Chinese travelers will choose to stay here – it's affordable and has a great location!

Cheap, clean and convenient, starts around 4k yen per night, you can also just take a break and shower here (japanese sentou) toothbrush, shaver, robe and towel available if you sleepover

Very accommodating and friendly staff. Great service and clean amenities. I am 189cm tall and just fit in the capsule but was fine to sleep in. Staff have limited English but Google translate made communicating easy

there is also cafetarian with drink vending machine, free wifi, microwave, and charging slot for your smartphone

Downstairs by the bath is a free machine that dispenses coffee, water, lemon water, green tea and barley tea. All have the option of hot or cold and all are unlimited and free

Lockers are tall and skinny; I had no problems but if you bring a large bag be sure you have a way to store items outside your bag in the locker. There is ample storage for large luggage near the reception area

Cons: the capsule room was warmer than I'd like - I'm not sensitive to heat but it would be too hot for many others. The shower room was also very hot and steamy most of the time

I stayed twice at the Akihabara Bay Hotel: the first time for a 7-night stay, then for a 3-night stay. It’s a simple but efficient capsule hotel

However, there were no signs of the grime or mildew that usually come with so much humidity, and the showers themselves were quite clean

Five floors of capsules, with toilets and lockers on each floor, a lounge on the basement level, and the showers and washing machines on the ground floor. The hostesses are welcoming and kind without being intrusive

Also it never gets 100% dark in there as the light in the hallway where the capsules are placed are not shut off at night. Overall a great hotel! It's so nice and peaceful here

Excellent hotel for a single male. One capsule fits a 190lbs 6ft 1 male. Ample amenities. The hotel is not missing anything.

Wonderful experience at this oyado! The service and amenities were outstanding

Literally, nothing needs to bring! The artificial hot bath was amazing! People staying in Oyado were so respectful and quiet, keeping others privacy. I will comeback here and anywhere in Japan

It was clean, comfortable, quiet, i appreciated the Onsen (if you don’t like that, take note that there is only one private shower), the food & most importantly, i felt safe, my previous experiences were in Mixed dorms and it was catastrophic, never again, i wish there were more women only capsule hostel

But i’d like to say, kudos to the staff for keeping this place as clean as they can, it’s 9 floors total + food area + onsen + reception and lots of capsules etc, i was often awake until 5am and i’ve seen them constantly preparing, cleaning and making sure everything’s fine, i know some will say “yeah it’s their job…” but still, it’s appreciated, so thank you ladies for your hard work, i hope that...

There’s a Lawson, 7-Eleven and small grocery shop close and the stations not being that far away. Wifi was constant and good + the dining area has seated places where you can use/charge your phone, computer

The room lights were broken, and the soundproofing and light-blocking weren't great. However, the overall environment was clean and tidy, the bathroom and shower were comfortable, and there's a coffee shop downstairs

Very cool and peppy environment. The staff are very helpful and speak English. The hotel ( or a dormitory) has various options like bunk beds and regular rooms for families. The cafe is open to local visitors too

I stayed at a single room, which is enough for me at really affordable cost. And its near kuramae station, so it’s easy to get around.

I just stayed at this hostel with my friends from April 10th-15th, and it was a fantastic experience, especially for a short trip

Good value for money but we stayed in a room that was the size of the bed :)

Focus Kuramae is great as always, my first stop for Tokyo by far.

☺️ This time, I had a meal plan, and while meal vouchers were supposed to be given at check-in, they weren't, so I was confused when I went to get breakfast. You can choose between a croissant or a rice ball

First time for me in a capsule hotel, much cozier than I expected. For someone like me who likes a proper meal before starting the day, the breakfast was a bit meager (a cup of miso soup and a rice ball)

You are given a cup for drinks, and you can help yourself to coffee and other beverages. There is a welcome drink in the lobby, and it changes every day. This time I had apple juice and orange juice

Best of all, there was a large public bath, which was great for soothing away my fatigue

If I have the opportunity to travel solo, I would definitely like to stay here again

But that's really a matter of personal preference

With JR and subway access, it's quite convenient to get to other places. This time, I discovered that about a 15-minute walk from Minamisenju, you can find the super-secret Minowabashi Station on the Arakawa Line tram

No issues at all, apart from the small room size. The price was good, and even though the single room didn't have a private bathroom or toilet, the shared facilities were very clean and rarely used

Two stops from Nippori Station, about a ten-minute walk from the station. There are supermarkets opposite the accommodation and outside the station. The room is small and basic, just enough to open a large suitcase

A large blanket is provided, which makes for a comfortable sleep. The environment is very clean, and there's a microwave and hot/cold water, but no conditioner. For this price, there's nothing to complain about

The room was spacious enough for 1 person, i can open my 28 inch luggage there easily. For the price that i paid, i can say it’s worth the price. One thing that i like, it’s equipped with mini refrigerator

The location is excellent, with a large supermarket and several convenience stores nearby. It's also just a 5-minute walk to both the JR station and a subway station
