Mediteran Hotel & Resort in Budva

Had a 7 night stay in Montenegro and chose to stay in the Mediteran, Resort & Spa. My overall review given was 3 out of 5 due to a combination of different things. The service in the hotel was decent with the staff kind enough, a few staff were dismissive but we’ve concluded this may have been due to the language barrier.

We opted for the half board (breakfast and dinner). Both provided a buffet and the dinner was definitely worth the money. They provide a variety of different dishes each day with staple items you can expect each day (for the picky eaters). Breakfast could do with more variety. The hotel may also consider offering light drinks at dinner as part of the package aside from water. Hotel also doesn’t allow food or drink from outside. They outline it’s due to Covid-19 reasons, however it may be nice for them to review this. There is a place across the road, ‘Fat Boy’ really nice burgers and chips incase you’re looking for a quick bite.

The room we went for initially was the basic with balcony. We figured in such a nice 4 star hotel, the basic room should be decent enough. However, upon arriving we noticed first that the water was tepid and the heating was slow. We travelled in November which isn’t cold but definitely not enough for a lukewarm shower. We then went to the front desk as there no effort from the staff to send someone to look into it despite calls from our room to the reception desk. They gave us another basic room with the same issue. Whilst going downstairs, we saw the housekeeping cleaning a superior room and decided to check the water temperature in their room incase there was a difference. Instantly saw a significant difference in the temperature of the water. When we went to the front desk, we highlighted how the water in the superior room was way warmer. They asked how we got access and we explained housekeeping let us in. I believe we caught them in an awkward position and they then upgraded us to a superior room. Funny that right.

Nonetheless, once the room was changed, we had a good stay and the housekeeping was really nice each morning. So I guess moral of the story, go for the superior room for the best experience of the hotel.

Despite it being off season, most enmities in the hotel was open and we enjoyed the pools and access to the beach.

It’s located very close to Budva town (10minutes) with a bus stop across the road if you don’t mind (€1.50) into the centre and Google Maps can help with the rest (reaching Budva Old Town or the Budva Bus Station to go towards Kotor or other parts of Montenegro).
