Royal Savoy - Ocean Resort - Savoy Signature in Funchal

We stayed at the Royal Savoy for a week and enjoyed our stay. The property is well located on the water (but has no beach), walking distance from the old town. We had a ground floor garden room which we enjoyed as we had easy access to the pool area. The hotel has two big outdoor pools (but only one is heated), an indoor pool, a small gym and a padel court. Our room was sufficiently spacious with a small outdoor area. Staff were nice for the most part. The price for a stay over Easter was fair especially with breakfast included and the daily food/drink allowance. There are some things the resort could do better though: (1) food quality should be better; (2) the beds were too firm for us; (3) very few daytime on-site activities (including nothing for the padel court - there is a good padel centre 2kms away). Note that there are two other Savoy properties next door - the Savoy Palace seems more upscale including the restaurant options.

Amazing experience at Royal Savoy Madeira. Everything about the stay felt special. The staff are incredibly attentive and friendly — they often help you even before you ask, like bringing sun umbrellas near the sea or the pool, which makes you feel really taken care of. The rooms are very cozy and extremely well equipped, making it easy to relax and enjoy the stay. The weather was just perfect during our visit, and the food was absolutely amazing as well. Overall, a wonderful place to stay with excellent service and a beautiful atmosphere. I would definitely love to come back.

This is an elegant, quiet hotel in possibly the best location in Funchal, so convenient for the port, marina and town. We had a junior suite, which was large and comfortable. The food is excellent and the staff can’t do enough to help. While I would say the rooms need a gentle refurbishment, nevertheless this was a comfortable and classy stay.

Beautiful hotel set in a great location within walking distance from Funchal centre. Well kept gardens and pool area with plenty of sun loungers and comfortable seating areas. Our room was stunning with amazing views. All staff were friendly and professional. Excellent breakfast and evening meal.

What a fabulous hotel, city and island! Had the most wonderful week. Such a beautiful setting . Staff were wonderful, so friendly and professional. Food incredible and cocktails to die for ! Thatchers bar is a fantastic place to sit for a pre dinner drink. Can’t really fault it. Madeira offers so much to do and the amount of restaurants within a half hour walking distance is incredible! We loved it so much we became members of the Vacation Club and can’t wait to return next year!

A friend lent us his time share apartment. What a fantastic location and place with great facilities. Very friendly and efficient staff.

What a fabulous place to take a holiday - excellent staff, facilities and food, and the location by the sea is wonderful.

We did a long weekend over the UK Bank Holiday and everything was as advertised. The staff are all helpful and attentive and the food is good. The room was massive and very quiet. We were a bit worried being near the lift but the bedrooms are actually quite far back from the hallway so we didn't hear anything. Having a dressing room was a nice touch too. The walk into town is fine, only a little bit uphill on the way back. The local restaurants are great and accessed over the bridge to the other Savoy, through their gardens and a great little lane with local places! reception were great at getting taxi's and booking places too.
