My stay at Capitol Kempinski felt like an experience in 'mindful management' of an old building. While the historical structure places some limitations on the hardware, the design is excellent, striking a perfect balance between vintage charm and modern comfort. What truly impressed me was the service; the guest service team was incredibly responsive to all my requests, and the staff's thoughtfulness and professionalism elevated the entire stay significantly. Furthermore, in Singapore's humid weather, the convenient transportation was a lifesaver. It's just a few minutes' walk to the MRT, and there are numerous bus stops right downstairs, offering direct routes to almost anywhere, making sightseeing across the city efficient and stress-free.

The hotel's location is convenient. The breakfast spread is rich and delicious, and the staff are very polite. It's also easy to find places to eat downstairs, especially the crab at Holy Crab, which is definitely worth trying.

Overall, the hotel was great. The cleanliness, ambiance, and service all exceeded my expectations, making for a very pleasant stay. The only minor drawback was the showerhead, but everything else was excellent.

The room facilities are complete and comfortable. It's in a great central location, making it easy to get to major attractions by taxi or subway. There are dining options right downstairs from the hotel and a mall nearby, which is really convenient for tourists. The hotel itself is a beautiful historic building. The hotel's buffet is also excellent, offering both à la carte and buffet options. The food tastes great, the service is good, and you can even find famous Singaporean dishes there. I'm very satisfied with all aspects of the hotel.

The showerhead in the bathroom, which is built into the wall, was moldy and hadn't been cleaned. The biggest issue was the air conditioning vent in room 340. When the AC was on, there was a very loud vibrating noise that significantly affected sleep. If I hadn't been so exhausted from walking tens of thousands of steps every day on vacation, I wouldn't have been able to sleep at all. Honestly, if this were a business trip, I would have requested a room change on the first day. But since it was a family trip and we were all so tired every night, we just made do. The breakfast was excellent, the location was great, and the service was good.

I stayed for three nights, and it was a mixed bag, for your reference.

Pros:
1. Every staff member I encountered was incredibly enthusiastic, and their English was great. The concierge service was also fantastic, whether it was at breakfast, in the hallways, or during check-in.
2. The room was very clean and comfortable. Drinking water was delivered daily, and there was a mini-bar with complimentary sodas and other items. If you wanted more, though, you had to pay extra.
3. The hotel's location is truly excellent. Taxis are readily available, and the City Hall MRT station (red and green lines), which I used frequently, is just across the street, about 200m away. Within a 10-minute walk, you can reach churches, the National Gallery, and museums.
4. The breakfast selection was decent, with both Asian and Western options. Before the meal, they always asked if I wanted coffee or tea.
5. The bedding was comfortable, neither too soft nor too firm, and all the toiletries were well-stocked. The water temperature was stable, making for a pleasant shower.

Cons:
1. The hotel is built around a shopping mall. So, either your room faces inward towards the mall's windows, offering no view and being noisy until 10 pm, or it faces the street, offering a good view but with clear road noise from cars and motorcycles throughout the night. Since the entire building is only four stories tall, outside sounds are quite audible.
2. The hotel is older, and the drainage for the sink, bathtub, and shower was very, very, very slow.

Although it's right next to an MRT station, with many shopping areas like Bugis and Raffles, and only about two kilometers from the Merlion and other attractions, it's very convenient. We stayed in a family suite, which was very quiet. We could faintly hear some sounds from the mall, but it was fine and much better than being next to a street. However, there was no view. The breakfast wasn't bad, but staying for five days made us tired of it. I'd suggest that if you're staying for a while, try breakfast outside for a day or two. Every evening from 6 PM to 8 PM, suite guests can access the executive lounge on the first floor. The food is simple but sufficient for a quick bite. The service is good, it's not crowded, and it's quiet. When we checked in, the staff initially said we couldn't use it, but after I mentioned that Ctrip stated it was included with the suite booking, they allowed us in. It was a bit odd, so if they say no, definitely insist.

Exquisite! The location is super convenient, with many restaurants right downstairs! It's also within walking distance to Clarke Quay. The room was very clean and tidy, and felt really upscale! We even caught the strong Christmas atmosphere!

Wonderful experience at The Capitol Kempinski Hotel. The heritage architecture is stunning, paired perfectly with modern comfort. The room was spacious and beautifully designed, and the service was attentive and professional throughout our stay. Location is unbeatable, with easy access to shopping and dining. Balcony is spacious and completely private. Would definitely return.

The hotel's exterior has a very British feel. The rooms don't feel very spacious because it's not a high-rise building. In mid-January, which isn't peak season, I paid around 2500 per night for a room on the second floor with no actual window – just a sealed glass panel facing the mall downstairs. You have to pass by the downstairs restaurants to get in and out, and the lobby doesn't even look like a hotel lobby. The location is good, though. I tried two hotels around the same price this trip, and this one was a complete letdown.

Won't go too wrong if you seek to taste the aunthetic chinese restaurant in town. Served Cantonese style cuisine and located at Chijmes - old convent monestary. Try their drinker prawn, roasted pork, Peking duck and soup. They have private room and reasonable choices of wine too. Easy parking at B2 and nice ambience for dinner.

Ideal place for family and business treats.

Poor service. Service staff were quite rowdy and tend to recommend pricey dishes. Food quality is so so.
26.10.2017 st
The food is nice; up-scale Chinese restaurant quality. The pork belly was really well done. The reason for the three stars is the service quality. Now I get that Mandarin is not my forte and I'm sorry if I can't read nor speak Mandarin at your level. But when the waitress starts avoiding orders altogether because we can't speak Mandarin in a Chinese restaurant; we have a problem. The communication was so abysmal I actually learned a new word for Lobster.. = Lorrister. Now THAT was quality entertainment.. it was a really nice lorrister tho ? I prolly should've double checked with that waitress if she meant lorrister with double r or single ?

Restaurant with good view and service but the steak is just pathetic. Not worth the price at all.

Food was ok but service was a let down. Went on a week day for a special dinner with a guest visiting from abroad. Caucasian male staff was too keen on clearing our table even b4 we had finished our meal and sides.Restaurant was not even half full. Absurb service. I dun mind the price or the food quality but sorely dissappointed with service. I'll never patronize this place nor recommend it to any other.

I ordered my steak at 8.17pm

My lobster bisque came at 8.45pm

The ravioli came at 9.15pm. (They took an hour to cook 9 pieces.)

Now it's 9.30pm and my steak has yet to come.

Update: 9.37pm and my steak has arrived! 8/10 quality sirloin beef steak.

Longest wait ever. Saving grace was one of our waiters who was polite, friendly and apologised. Made the wait bearable. Sadly, the other was nonchalant and did not even comment about the long wait.

Kudos to the waiter who saved the day.

This place has amazing steak. 10/10 will come back. But not as budget friendly!
24.10.2016 Wayne
Maybe I'm grumpy and I should be. Been to many steak houses in many cities. This has got to be the worse ever. For the price, quality, service go elsewhere. Morton's, Cut, anywhere.

Saw the chef take a steak out of the frig, unwrap the plastic wrap, smell it then toss it into the garbage. I should have left right there.
