Hotel Hispania in Playa de Palma

Forget about 4 stars! At best it’s 2, and even that is questionable. We paid over €300 per night, and it’s hard to explain how disappointed we are. Nobody expected luxury, but with 4 stars and this price there should be at least a minimum standard.

The only good thing is the location – and that’s it.
The food is all pre-packaged, it doesn’t taste good at all.
The hotel room doesn’t even have the bare minimum you would expect: the beds squeak and are extremely hard.
On Booking.com you can book a French double bed, but when you arrive they say they don’t even have such a thing.
You even have to pay extra per day for a safe in the room!

I’ve stayed in many hotels, but I’ve never experienced anything like this.
Definitely not worth the price!!

They up charge for everything: we needed to use the safe, which was 3.50 euros a day even though it was already in the room, a deposit on the beach towels were 20 euros a towel and when we went to check out and were going to go to the beach before our flight we’d have to pay yet another 20 euro per towel cash only deposit. Even thought we had said we already paid a deposit and they talked about how we didn’t understand them in Spanish, which I understand Spanish and knew what they said. Very poorly ran by the younger people. A middle age lady from Cuba was great and very helpful. Great location right on the beach and close to restaurants but they all have promoters or people outside heckling to get you to eat there. Room was ok. The beds were very hard and squeaky, seemed dirty, staff was quite rude. I called to ask if there was soap and shampoo before arrival and they laughed at me, but it was a soap and shampoo in the same bottle, I wouldn’t expect that for a “4 star” hotel. Also when we were checking in two girls said they got all of their items and towels stolen from the beach so be careful. Wellness spa area is also extra, fitness room was very outdated, the pool is in a small corner and isn’t very big at all. I wouldn’t recommend staying here the area in general is very touristy full of drunk Germans yelling. AC also barely worked, and no complimentary water was provided after they said how water isn’t safe to drink there.

Very disappointing experience, especially considering for one of the hotel’s best rooms, but did not meet even basic expectations.

The bed frame in the room was broken and unstable (risk of collapsing), the room was dirty (especially under the bed and in the corners), the curtain rail was hanging off, and there was no soap provided. It was clear the room had not been properly cleaned or maintained in a long time.

When I brought this up to the front desk and requested a refund after the first night (I had booked for three), the manager offered another room, but I decided to leave due to the overall poor state of the room—including an elevator incident where guests got stuck. Rather than addressing my concerns, the manager focused on asking to pay a €25 drinks bill, which felt very dismissive and unprofessional.

This experience was far from what you'd expect at a 4-stars hotel in terms of quality and costumers service. I do not recommend staying here, and I would advise future guests to be cautious.
