If you're British then don't bother with the hotel! They don't like the British!
It took ages to check in at reception and cattle get better treatment.
The food so bad you wouldn't feed it to pigs.
Forget using the lifts because because it's quicker to climb the stairs because either they didn't work or in use.
The hotel is soo outdated that you'd think you had gone back in time to the 80s. Best to knock it down and start again.
The beach is just across the train track but you'll better off finding a better hotel somewhere else and just put up with a 10 minute walk.
Good view of the sea if you're lucky enough to get one but none of the Brits unlucky enough to be in this hotel didn't get one.
All I can say if you chose this hotel, good luck and look forward to the flight home!

Good food, clean rooms, reasonable prices - some of personnel could be more friendly.
EDITED, minus one star, after 12 nights of staying here:
This hotel is a "rusted" jewel. Located very close to the beach, looks a bit dated mainly because of BAD maintenance, in my opinion. Most of the personnel scarcely addresses a smile back, when you're greeting them (sometimes, answering you back, but usually like being "obligated" to react somehow). Bad reception service, seen other guests scandalised there; couldn't help not to agreeing - especially when, in our LAST MORNING THERE, the receptionist told us the check out must be earlier with an hour (while the previous evening, we have asked about that). Luckily, all our luggage was ready - but the taste was BITTER... Would check-in there again, ONLY IF the personnel would be changed. Maybe not 100%, but most of them, don't have anything to do with tourism services... Pity of the hotel's location&(maybe)history, they're (even literally!) ruining it ALL!

This hotel is very bad. The toilet blocked and the cleaner wiped water from the toilet all over the hotel room floor. The staff in the restaurant are very rude and seem to hate all the hotel guests. The staff at reception have no customer service skills.

This hotel is just awful. The receptionist sucks, we've waited for 2 hours to check in. We were first in line, and she kept on counting money etc... Furthermore the elevator didn't work, the food was poor and the hotel was noisy. And they paint pillars on walls because they're too lame to buy real ones.

Very out dated needs a good refurb, bed we're very uncomfortable I had backache supposed to have been a relaxing 5 days was in agony would not go here again, food was bland

The views was beautiful and that is it. We was bitten by bed bugs on our first night resulting in my legs ful of red blistered bites all week. The food 😔 Awful. Croissants are the only edible breakfast and salads. Maids are lovely and clean every day. That is it.

Stayed in July 2019 for 7 nights half board.
Rooms were basic, but it appeared that the bed sheets were never changed only remade every morning. Food is mediocre, continental breakfast and buffet dinner, lots of choice but dinner was hit and miss. Expensive Wi-Fi and no free tap water at dinner. Staff were friendly though not attentive, asked on 4 separate occasions for TV in room to be fixed, was promised that someone would come and look at it but this never happened. On one night waited at reception for 20+ minutes as key to bedroom was not working - issue had been reported earlier and we were told to go back to reception to resolve after dinner - no one was on duty at reception and a long queue formed, quite unprofessional but for the price and rating expectations were met. Very loud (though this is mentioned when booking) due to bar/club next to hotel. Location is the redemption as Calella is beautiful, very touristy but there is a lot to do throughout the days and nights so you don't have to stay in the hotel for long periods of time.

Hotel is the first line to the sea but like all the others hotels you should cross the street and then walk under the railway. But it's doesn't matter because it's very close. The rooms are clean and the bathroom was restored. Some rooms have a grate lovely sea view (100-108, 200-208, 300-308....) Breakfast is not very good, not too much to choose, but very good dinner and supper.
