Villa Baywatch Rumassala in Unawatuna

A good villa if you're planning to stay near a small, clean beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the only drawback is the air conditioning, which blows directly on the beds.

The location has a perfect view of the city, and is in close proximity to Jungle Beach which has a great atmosphere and is a lovely cove with shallow waves to safely enjoy with your family. The atmosphere of the place itself is quiet and undisturbed. As it is far from the city, the air feels clean and rejuvenating. You are surrounded by visually appealing greenery with comfortable outdoor furniture for things like simply reading a book to having a drink at the bar. The room fan had an issue and when we mentioned this to the owner, he immediately went to the town and got a new fan despite us saying we were fine with the perfectly working AC. An hour later, he had installed the fan and apologised repeatedly for any inconvenience. On a side note, the bathroom shower had hot water, which feels perfect when taking a shower after having some fun in the ocean and sand. If you need anything, all you have to do is ask, like if you were hungry after spending hours at the beach and were in the mood for some authentic Asian cuisine but were too tired to go out, the in house cook has many specials which you can choose from, our personal favourite was his “Chapati with Chutney”. Meals are an additional cost but was worth every cent.

The closest to you'll get to the wonderful Jungle Beach. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful, with TukTuks, doing our washing and getting the pool ready for our use. The garden is fantastic, as are the views out over the bay. Jungle Baech is a five minute walk away.

Far to Unawatuna beach, either 20 minutes walk through the jungle over rocks or a detour by tuk-tuk
Tuk-tuks are reluctant to go up the mountain where the accommodation is located
No safe in the room
No amenities for washing
Very weak water pressure

The Villa Baywatch is a very small hotel set in the most spectacular gardens. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable and an ensuite with shower. They are equipped with tea & coffee making facilities and a fridge. The area is very quiet, a short walk to Jungle Beach and a tuktuk ride to Unawatatuna. There is also a small but essential swimming pool. The staff are lovely and the breakfast is excellent. There's a very small restaurant close by, Speak to Anushka for tuktuk rides. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. This is somewhere I'll remember for all the right reasons.

A last moment plan and booked this hotel. I would say that I'm so lucky as it is more than expected. Very nice staff. Clean and well maintained. Beautiful view from BBQ area. Very close to jungle beach. A homely feel and nice garden. Keep it up! Thanks to the hotel and staff.

Excellent food and service. Lovely family holiday. We will definitely go back again soon.

Villa Baywatch offers some of the best views of the Galle bay with easy access to the jungle beach. The staff and the service offered is splendid and I would definitely be lodging here if I am in Galle again..

Fantastic views. Very easy access to the beach. Great place to relax, dip in the pool, swim in the sea and watch the evening sky from the lovely outdoor BBQ area. Very friendly staff.

Me and my family visited Villa Baywatch Unawatuna for a three day stay. The stay was extremely enjoyable and relaxing. The balcony's open up to a splendid view of the bay which in the mornings was a picture of calmness and tranquility. After a sumptuous breakfast done by the cook we walked down the cliff to the beach. The beach was absolutely fantastic and after a sea bath and needless to say downing a couple of cool beers we trekked back to the Villa for lunch and an afternoon siesta. The view in the evening was even great as the lights of the entire Galle town and the Fort can be seen from the Villa which is a wonderful site. Access to the Villa is also very easy as it is minutes away from the highway exit. Overall excellent stay. In fact waiting to go back....
