Kingfisher Hotel in Unawatuna

I travel a lot (I've been to 100 plus countries and am fairly flexible) and I found this hotel disappointing compared to my expectations. The staff was friendly and it's right on the beach. Our room was nice and large and had a great shower and looked out to the beach however the main curtain over the front window didn't work and was down the entire we were there. They attempted to fix it and briefly jimmied it briefly but never came back to fix it so we never really enjoyed the view from the room. Just in front of the bathroom sink and counter is a 1 inch raised step that's tiled exactly the same as the rest of the bathroom and I stubbed my toe 10+ times it, as did my nephew. The hotel has a number of great beach chairs, however passersby who aren't staying at the hotel are free to use them so they can quickly start filling up in the morning. It would be nice if they would reserve the best beach chairs for hotel guests but you need to get up early and reserve them with your towel. There's also a bar/restaurant next door that plays LOUD music with LOUD fireworks every hour until at least midnight. I really like the staff at the hotel and the location, but I won't stay here again.
