Reviews
From the very beginning of our booking, Arty was incredibly attentive and helpful, answering every question we had with care and patience. What truly impressed us was that she remembered our arrival date and proactively reached out on the day we were traveling to provide detailed information about boat transfers, room arrangements, and many other questions we had.
Throughout our stay, Arty made us feel genuinely welcomed, well looked after, and completely at ease. Her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail truly stood out and made our experience extra special. The rest of the staff were also wonderful and supportive, creating a very welcoming atmosphere overall.
The hotel food was delicious as well — especially the pizza, which our whole family absolutely loved.
We are very grateful for the exceptional service provided by Arty and the team, and we would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a warm, professional, and memorable stay.
When we asked to move rooms due to the stairs, we were moved to the cheapest room with no refund, or asked to pay another 800 per night for a Superior room we had already paid for.
Very poor customer service. We checked out early, only staying for two days (we paid for four)
While the rooms are basic and a bit dated, the hotel offers a rare sense of tranquility. The highlight for me was the wonderful local atmosphere. In the evenings, the beach comes alive with several Thai people singing, dancing, and sharing meals. I even joined a group of local kids for a game of football on the sand—it was so much fun! Combined with an exceptionally authentic breakfast (both Thai and Western), this place felt like a true, soulful escape.
- When you get off a long tail boat or the ferry, there is a solid chance you’re walking in knee deep water for a few meters. I’d recommend wearing sandals and shorts.
- Laem Tong beach is isolated, there is a paved path to the next village but it will not get you all the way to Tonsai Pier, this requires a boat. So buy snacks at the 7-11 before coming here. There is a motorbike that will get you to the next village for like 100 baht.
- The long tail boats run 24/7, but after the last ferry, they charge 1,500 baht, and even more after it’s dark.
I had a great experience my 5 nights here. While some of the complaints from the other guests were valid, I think I came with a different perspective, and although a bit anxious after some reviews, everything ended up being pretty great. This won’t be as bad as the worst Airbnb you’ve ever stayed in, and it won’t be as nice as a Four Seasons. The rooms are dated but for the price point compared to the other properties adjacent, it was totally fine.
I stayed in a standard room on the 2nd floor so I didn’t encounter any strange smells in the bathroom, and the AC was excellent. WiFi is also strong as well. The mattress was totally fine, and I would say I’m quite sensitive to firm mattresses.
I didn’t quite understand the complaints about the stairs, yes a bit steep, but if you’ve been anywhere else in Thailand, this was a non-issue if you don’t have mobility issues.
A continuation of the above, I don’t think I needed to touch my suitcase at all since leaving Tonsai pier, their staff was so diligent about carrying our suitcase everywhere, including carrying it in thigh deep water getting off the boat to reception, and then to my room. Their staff as others have mentioned were a big highlight.
The Thai Food was great here, more expensive about double, from what you get from Bangkok but looking left and right, as well as understanding how you got to the island, should hopefully give you a perspective of why it’s a bit higher. Still cheaper than any Thai place in most of Europe. I can’t speak for the pasta or pizza, but others say it’s not as good as their Thai food here, hopefully that doesn’t need an explanation on why that’s not entirely relevant. The breakfast had a good selection, the person by the egg station was a pro.
Something others haven’t mentioned, it’s very clean here, the beach didn’t have garbage, the property was well maintained, and despite some age in the room decor, the cleaning staff did an excellent job of cleaning and getting the sand out of the rooms.
The one complaint I had was that the walls are very thin, you can hear everything apart from a normal level conversation from other rooms. Since it’s not a party area, everyone’s asleep by midnight. There was some construction/landscaping noise in the mornings, but having stayed at other resorts in Mexico and North Africa in a similar price point, this was also the norm there too. The tractor and motorbike noise others mentioned is a non-issue, it comes once an hour in the late morning and afternoons and its carrying guests and luggages. Despite the vanity here, locals do live and work throughout the island, and they too need to live their lives and go about their day.
If you booked a stay here and got a bit worried reading these reviews, I wouldn’t worry. Everything was fine as long as you have a good expectation of what this resort is or isn’t. It’s very quiet (at least in December) and the beach is amazing.
Cleanliness: Clean and tidy.
Environment: Excellent surroundings.
Service: Excellent service.
