Reviews
However, I do recommend the hotel renovates soon, otherwise, it's a waste of such a beautiful location.
Summary:
1. The facilities are indeed old. The exterior looks okay, but the interior is too basic. Friends accustomed to five-star hotels might find it hard to adapt. I had to comfort my child and convince myself, but once I accepted it, it was fine.
2. If you want a true, unobstructed sea view room, be sure to communicate with the hotel beforehand. Only rooms starting with '1' will do. The higher the room number, the higher up the hill it is, so be prepared for a cardio workout every time you head back to your room.
3. The service was generally good. I didn't feel any prejudice or mistreatment towards Chinese guests. The porters who helped with luggage were the best.
4. Cat lovers will overlook all the negatives and fall in love with this place, just like my son. He initially complained about everything, but after bribing many cats with cat food to hang out on our balcony, he was very sad to leave.
- Friendly staff
- Great location, away from some of the busier areas in Phi Phi but easy to walk everywhere, particularly to the lovely quieter beaches on the island
- Decent accommodation, comfortable and quiet
- Offer free transfers to and from the main pier
- Breakfast was okay, the variety of options could be improved
- Some of the facilities could be improved too (eg sufficient provision of decent beach towels)
The location is fab and the setting beautiful but everywhere is really dirty and tatty. Our room wasn’t made up for 3 days despite asking daily. No fresh towels or water left or even toilet paper!
The beach towels, when they actually had some were covered in holes!
Such a shame
**Facilities:** The independent cabins are really unique and charming.
**Cleanliness:** Very good, spotless.
**Environment:** The air is filled with the refreshing scent of the sea breeze.
**Service:** Everyone was very friendly. It's perfect for a relaxing 'lie-flat' hotel stay. There are many cute, free-roaming cats on the mountain, which adds to the laid-back vibe!
When returning to the hotel after dark through the jungle-like path, none of the lights were working, which felt unsafe. The pool area was extremely disappointing—there were only two worn-out sunbeds, no staff around, visible dirt, and the entire place looked abandoned and completely unsuitable for swimming. Even the sunbeds on our terrace had no cushions, and we were not provided with umbrellas unless we explicitly asked. The mosquito net in the bathroom was broken, and small insects and termites were coming out of the walls.
We experienced three room changes. Originally, we were supposed to stay in an ocean-view villa of about 45m². While the view was beautiful and the bed was nicely prepared with fresh towels, the rest of the room was in very poor condition. The bathroom was dirty, with grime around the shower area and what looked like animal droppings on the shelves. Small bugs appeared from behind the bed, and the sliding mosquito net on the terrace door was broken. At one point, when we tried to close the main door, a piece of it simply fell off, seemingly damaged by pests.
We also had to request umbrellas ourselves—one of them broke within a few hours, and the staff initially wanted to charge us for it, which felt completely unreasonable.
During the first room change, it seemed as though we were being moved to a significantly lower-standard room with a much worse view and the personel wanted to deceive us, a neglected patio, and an overall unattractive environment. We refused this option. The next room was technically the category we had booked, but still only marginally better than the first one which was overly disappointing. We were told it would be changed again the following day to a better one, but the staff later denied and claimed they cannot do it, having made such a promise a day before, so we decided to stop wasting our holiday time arguing.
The outdoor areas also appeared poorly maintained: no proper garden, visible rubbish around the paths, and several buildings looked like they were out of service. At times, the whole property felt closer to an abandoned place than an operating hotel.
Overall, this was the worst travel experience I have ever had, and based on my stay, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. In my view, it is in a condition that warrants a complete shutdown and renovation before welcoming guests again. Horrible is the best word to describe it.
The location is fabulous- close enough to walk to the hustle and bustle of restaurants, the pier and entertainment. If you have little children the walk could be lengthy.. but was fine for us. It is the last resort before the famous Long Beach so there is a lot of foot traffic to Long Beach each day in the peak season.
We stayed in a garden view room at peak time, it was okay.. but the room smelt musty, there was cockroaches in the bathroom and the shower didn’t really work. The resort also fumigates each room daily because of the bugs and insects- all these chemicals are not good for us ( in my opinion) and the resort should forewarn travellers or improve their facilities instead of spraying chemicals every day. The room had TV and YouTube and good but noisy AC. Bring your own beach towel if you can. The resort makes you check in and check out beach towels, but they were more like rags in my opinion with rips and tears.
If your mobility is challenged this is not the resort for you. The resort is quite spread out. There is steep, steep paths and steps to most rooms and only the very few front rooms do not require such effort to get to your accommodation. I’d recommend stating this on your booking or confirming with the resort before you book if you don’t want to be hiking up to your room each day.
Overall, a bearable place to stay for 3 days as we were mostly out each day but the resort could do with a major upgrade and improvements to its facilities.
The facilities here were great, having such a nice beach on your doorstep was amazing.
Staff were great especially the bell boys who helped with our luggage from the pier and to the room as I will warn you there are some steep steps to most apartments.
Breakfast we good plenty of options and overall would love to stay again!
The staff are very friendly and helpful. I would like to especially mention Mee Mee, who is extremely kind, professional, and caring. She always helped with a smile and made our stay more comfortable. Her service really made a big difference and made us feel welcome.
Overall, Phi Phi Bayview Resort is a fantastic place to stay. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing and memorable vacation.
